I could now almost certainly tell.
Forget about cleanliness… I slid my finger into Yumi’s vagina, then held it to my nose to sniff. I needed to determine if there was a scent of semen.
But right now, her vulva smelled of sweat, her own juices, everything mixed together. I couldn’t tell.
Plus, Jihoon was still young. Would his semen even have a strong scent? I had no way of knowing.
I noticed Yumi slept even more soundly after drinking.
Despite all my fussing with her, she only occasionally clamped her legs together or shook her head slightly, showing no signs of waking.
Yumi couldn’t hold her liquor at all; she got drunk easily since she rarely drank.
How could I possibly piece together tonight’s events?
I could wait until morning to ask Yumi, but she might only remember fragments.
Or I could sneak over to Jihoon’s room while she was out cold and interrogate him—and maybe give that brat a good beating.
Wait…even though the surveillance system failed tonight, the home computer’s hard drive must have captured something.
It felt like grabbing a lifeline.
I rushed to turn on the desktop computer.
It had originally been in the living room, but after Jihoon moved in, Yumi worried it would distract him from studying, so we moved it to our bedroom.
After booting up the computer, I frantically searched through the jumbled video files.
I didn’t have the patience to organize them properly. I pulled up every video file I could find and started playing them one by one.
After bringing Jihoon home, Yumi began preparing dinner with surprising speed. While cooking, she kept glancing at the clock on the living room wall.
Seeing this, I knew she was checking how long until my return. Yet when she finally served the meal, I still hadn’t come home.
Jihoon and Yumi sat facing each other, propping their chins up, staring at each other.
Yumi kept glancing at the clock.
Slowly, time passed.
Yumi couldn’t help but shake her head in disappointment. She guessed I might not be coming back tonight.
“Mom, when are we going to eat?”
Jihoon was already hungry. He’d been staring at the food on the table, swallowing repeatedly.
He was growing fast, with a healthy appetite and a tendency to get hungry quickly—perfectly normal.
“I’m sorry, dear, I forgot. Let’s eat…”
Only then did Yumi remember Jihoon hadn’t eaten yet, and she apologized to him.
Seeing this, I felt a little touched.
I had thought Jihoon held a more important place in Yumi’s heart than I did, but now it seemed that waiting for me to eat had made her forget about feeding her child.
It appeared my place in Yumi’s heart was at least equal to Jihoon’s.
Jihoon devoured his meal at the table while Yumi ate distractedly.
Half an hour passed without my return.
She went back to the bedroom, glanced at her phone, and let out a wry smile, her eyes tinged with self-mockery.
She placed the phone back on the nightstand and stepped out of the bedroom.
But as she walked out, she unexpectedly headed toward the refrigerator.
She pulled out a bottle of red wine she rarely drank, one I’d bought for her, suggesting she sip a little daily for beauty benefits.
But Yumi seldom touched it, having little taste for alcohol.
Tonight, however, her mood seemed low, and she’d taken out the wine to drown her sorrows.
“Mom, why are you drinking?”
Jihoon watched as Yumi poured herself a glass of red wine, slightly startled, and couldn’t help but ask.
“Nothing, I just feel like drinking. Too bad you’re still young, otherwise you could have joined me for a glass…”
Yumi said with a smile, though it held a hint of bitterness. Our conflict had deeply hurt her.
“Sure, we can drink now…”
Jihoon glanced at the bottle of red wine, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
“No, you’re still growing. Wait until you’re an adult…”
Yumi shook her head, her expression unusually stern to emphasize the seriousness of her words.
“Okay, I understand. Mom, you should drink less too…”
Jihoon lowered his head to continue eating, but I caught a glint in his eyes.
Though he told Yumi to drink less, deep down he secretly wished she’d have more.
After all, the saying “liquor loosens the tongue” isn’t just known to adults.
Yumi drank only one glass of red wine, but it was three times more than she usually had.
After finishing it, her cheeks flushed slightly.
“Jihoon, go do your homework. Mom will check it after I finish cleaning up…”
Yumi stood up.
Though her body didn’t sway, her steps were noticeably light and unsteady.
Jihoon nodded and went back to his bedroom to work on his assignments while Yumi tidied the table and dishes.
Everyone knows red wine has a lingering effect, so by the time Yumi finished cleaning, her body had begun to sway.
“Jihoon, make sure you finish your homework, okay? Go to bed right after. I’ll check it tomorrow during class…I can’t do it tonight. I’m going to bed first…”
After tidying up, Yumi returned to her bedroom to change into her pajamas.
Her movements were slow and deliberate, and she kept shaking her head. The dizziness in her head seemed to be getting worse.
She felt compelled to stop by Jihoon’s bedroom to remind him before heading back to her own room to rest.
“Okay…”
Jihoon responded without much reaction, though a hint of disappointment flashed across his face.
He knew I was back, meaning Yumi couldn’t stay to sleep with him tonight.
Jihoon continued his homework while Yumi staggered back to her room. She collapsed onto her bed and soon fell into a deep sleep.
The clock read exactly 7:30 PM.
As Jihoon worked on his homework, he kept glancing at the clock on the wall.
It was unclear whether he was checking if Yumi had fallen asleep or gauging the possibility of me returning home tonight…
