My Cat Turned Beastman Won't Stop Kissing My Neck
Chapter 162: I Can’t Remember’Seriously? A big Wolf Beast like him can still blush...’
’Is her Beastman lover the innocent, pure-hearted type?’
As Wen Qian mulled over this possibility, the look she gave Chi Heng grew increasingly strange.
"What are you thinking about?" Chi Heng cleared his throat, his voice sounding a little unnatural.
Wen Qian shook her head frantically. "N-Nothing."
On their way back to the room, they ran into Chi Li and Chi Shang again. The moment the two brothers saw Chi Heng, they immediately spun around, pretending to admire an oil painting on the wall.
"This painting is, uh, quite nice, heh heh..." Chi Li said, biting his nails and forcing a smile.
Chi Shang nodded frantically. "And this wall hung on the painting is pretty interesting too."
Chi Li shot back, "Wait... do you even hear yourself?"
"..."
Chi Heng shot the pair a suspicious glance. ’How had he never noticed his two older brothers were so obnoxious?’
After returning to their room with Wen Qian, and once she had showered, she discovered the Attendant had left her a flimsy, red slip dress. She hooked a finger through the strap, sizing it up in silence as her calm composure began to crack.
’Seriously? It’s *this* sexy?’
’The neckline is so low, it’s so short, and it’s even trimmed with lace... What’s the difference between wearing this and wearing nothing at all?’
Still, Wen Qian braced herself and put on the slip. The Attendant had already taken her old clothes, so if she didn’t wear this, she’d have nothing to wear at all.
Staring at the woman with flushed cheeks in the mirror, at the incredibly seductive slip she was wearing, Wen Qian fell into a momentary silence. She reached for the door but lost her nerve several times, unable to summon the courage to open it.
’I mean, if I go out looking like this, he’s definitely going to get the wrong idea, right?’
Meanwhile, Chi Heng was leaning against the sofa, reading a book. It had been a while since the sound of the hairdryer had stopped, yet Wen Qian still hadn’t come out.
The man frowned. A little concerned, he set his book face down on the table and rose to walk toward the bathroom.
The translucent sliding door made a soft sound. Chi Heng’s hand, raised to knock, froze in midair. The next moment, the door slid open from the inside, revealing the woman’s radiant face and slender, graceful figure...
His Adam’s apple bobbed twice, noticeably. Chi Heng’s eyes darkened. "What took you so long?"
"Uh... D-Drying my hair," Wen Qian blurted out as an excuse.
Hearing this, Chi Heng didn’t call her out on the lie. He just gave a faint nod and stepped past her into the still-steamy bathroom. As they brushed past each other, Wen Qian’s body tensed for an instant. She kept her eyes half-closed, trying desperately to ignore the masculine scent wafting off him.
The door closed again, and Wen Qian let out a long sigh, as if a great weight had been lifted from her shoulders.
She quickly scrambled onto the bed, pulled the covers over her face, and rolled back and forth. She didn’t know why she was so flustered, but it definitely had something to do with the slip she was wearing.
She remembered the look in the Attendant’s eyes when they delivered the clothes, and their thought-provoking words: "This is the young madam’s battle armor"...
Wen Qian rolled over in bed and stared at the ceiling for a while, completely bored. Her gaze happened to fall upon the book lying face down on the table, and her eyes instantly lit up.
She had assumed it would be a military novel, full of valor and strategy. However, when she flipped the book over and read the words on the cover—"A Study of Brain Tissues"—she froze for a second.
A flicker of surprise replaced the anticipation in her eyes. She raised an eyebrow. She had expected a tale of clashing armies and epic warfare, not something so academic.
Her curiosity overcame her initial surprise. Wen Qian’s eyes slowly scanned the pages, and as she delved deeper, she was shocked to realize that books in the Beast World were vastly different from those on Blue Star.
Every line in the book was about Beastmen, and she now found herself poring over the exact page Chi Heng had been looking at earlier.
It clearly listed the six major causes of amnesia and their corresponding remedies, like a mysterious key about to unlock her forgotten past.
Her lips parted as she repeatedly murmured the book’s contents. Instinctively following its instructions, she squeezed her eyes shut and tried to retrace her deeply buried memories.
But after only a moment, Wen Qian’s head began to throb as if it had been struck by a heavy hammer.
She opened her eyes, both shocked and overjoyed. She was happy that the book’s methods seemed to actually be working, but shocked that what had surfaced in her mind were not images of her past.
Gently setting the book down, Wen Qian pressed her fingertips to her temples, trying to relieve the sudden discomfort. Her head was groggy, but she still couldn’t remember anything from her past.
But amid the mental fog, a few names popped into her head without warning.
The names seemed familiar, as if she had heard or seen them somewhere before. Racking her brain, she suddenly remembered—they were from the phone she’d brought from Blue Star...
A flicker of confusion and bewilderment crossed Wen Qian’s eyes. She bit her lower lip, a thought rising in her mind. ’Could my relationship with those people be more special than I imagined? Why else would I only remember their names?’
But the moment the thought appeared, she felt it was absurd.
She gave a self-deprecating smile. ’Is this a case of "stolen fruit is sweetest"?’
But whatever her past with them might have been, she didn’t want to dwell on it right now. She had Chi Heng. She couldn’t promise him over and over that she wouldn’t leave, only to secretly pine for other men.
Just then, the bathroom door was opened from the inside.
Chi Heng stepped out, wreathed in steam, with nothing but a bath towel slung loosely around his waist.
Droplets of water slid slowly down his sleek, well-defined chest. His full, powerful pectoral muscles radiated an irresistible, sexy charm. He casually held a smaller towel in one hand, nonchalantly dabbing at his firm abs. His every move oozed a lazy, casual grace.
The sight made Wen Qian’s face instantly flush. She instinctively yanked the covers over her head, trying to shut out the world.
Funnily enough, the dull ache in her head was suddenly gone, and the random names that had just popped into her mind vanished without a trace.
Watching her reaction, a mischievous glint flashed in Chi Heng’s eyes, and the corner of his mouth curled into a faint, almost imperceptible smile. It was barely there, yet it held an ineffable, doting affection.
Striding forward, the man’s movements were natural and fluid. He pulled the covers back, and his broad, strong hand settled on Wen Qian’s slender waist. With a slight tug, he gently pulled her into his embrace...
"No hiding," he murmured, kissing her earlobe affectionately.
His breath was warm against her ear. Wen Qian tried to pull away, but there was no escape. In the end, she simply buried her face in Chi Heng’s chest.
