「The next morning.」

Gu Mian brought Wen Qian breakfast as usual. It was then, while everyone was talking about the nightclub, that Gu Mian learned Yin Zhi had taken Wen Qian to South City the previous night.

His expression instantly soured. "Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?"

"I’ll protect her," Yin Zhi said with a frown, clearly displeased by Gu Mian’s reaction.

His usual gentleness gone, Gu Mian sneered, "A wanted Beastman? Who can you possibly protect?"

While a nightclub wasn’t like other public places—in fact, for a wanted Beastman, it was relatively safe—the same couldn’t be said for humans. It was full of all sorts of people, and danger was easy to find.

Especially for a delicate female like Wen Qian.

Even with the scent of a Beastman on her, there was no guarantee someone wouldn’t get ideas. Besides that, among human females, Wen Qian’s looks were the closest to the Beastman standard of beauty.

The Beastman aesthetic wasn’t just about physical appearance; it was more about her aura...

"But I’m fine..." Wen Qian, genuinely afraid the two would start fighting again, quickly interjected. She then added, "And it really wasn’t as scary as you think..."

It was just singing and dancing. At most, the atmosphere was a little more intense than a bar.

Gu Mian was very familiar with the South City Nightclub, but he went along with what Wen Qian said. "Really?"

"Yeah, it was pretty fun! We’re going again tonight, so you can come with us," Wen Qian said cheerfully.

When he heard they were going again, Gu Mian subconsciously shot a cold glance at Yin Zhi. But when he heard Wen Qian’s invitation, his expression immediately softened.

A smile touched his lips as he said in a low voice, "Then Qianqian will have to show me the world."

His words made Wen Qian puff out her chest proudly. She agreed readily, "Then we’ll call you before we go."

"Okay," Gu Mian agreed.

「Nearing ten o’clock.」

Though reluctant, Yin Zhi did as Wen Qian asked and obediently called for Gu Mian.

Wen Qian had taken a nap in the afternoon, so she was full of energy that evening. She was sure she absolutely wouldn’t end up dozing off like she did yesterday.

"Qianqian, sit in the front," Yin Zhi said.

"Qianqian, sit in the front," Gu Mian said.

The two Beastmen had spoken in unison. They glanced at each other, both equally displeased.

With one more person than yesterday, the back seat would be relatively crowded, and neither of them wanted Wen Qian to be the one who was squeezed.

Ling Xuan, on the other hand, was on pins and needles when Wen Qian sat down in the passenger seat. His back was ramrod straight.

’Don’t think I don’t know the Young Master is secretly watching me.’

Outside the nightclub, Chi Heng and Chi Ye were already waiting.

Before Wen Qian could make introductions, Chi Ye took the initiative to greet Gu Mian. Clearly, the two already knew each other.

The group entered the nightclub one after another.

This time, a guide led them to the B1 level.

They descended a long flight of stairs and walked downward for quite some time before they finally saw the ring Chi Ye had mentioned.

Inside a huge iron cage, two bare-chested Beastmen stood with ferocious glints in their eyes. They faced each other, muscles taut, ready to throw a punch at any moment.

By now, the iron cage was surrounded by spectators.

They waved betting chips in their hands, letting out cheers like a roaring tsunami. In that moment, the passion seemed to fill the entire floor.

The two fighters glanced at each other, and an intimidating, fierce aura instantly filled the air. Before Wen Qian could even react, one of the Beastman’s fists slammed viciously into the other’s body, creating the distinct sound of muscle hitting muscle.

The next second, the other Beastman’s fist flew out as well. His movements were swift and merciless, carrying immense power.

Another thunderous roar of cheers erupted.

The relatively timid Li Jiu was stunned by the scene. He quickly backed away, his two round eyes wide. As the two fighters clashed, he subconsciously flinched.

’Wasn’t this supposed to be a place for singing and dancing...?’

Both Beastmen fought with all their might, and soon their eyes were bloodshot. Their faces and bodies were covered in bloody scrapes from the blows. The entire arena was filled with the smell of hormones and blood, and the piercing cheers of the crowd.

Li Jiu, trembling, was about to use his power as an Inspection Envoy to quickly locate the Critical Stone Fragment, but the next second, Gu Mian’s hand clamped down on his shoulder.

He shot Li Jiu a meaningful look, gesturing with his eyes toward a tall woman in the corner who was quietly watching them.

It was Chi Ye’s ex-wife.

But soon, their attention was drawn to another person: a man in a black suit and a fedora. His face was hidden in shadow, and he held a cane carved with intricate patterns that looked to be of extremely high quality.

"That’s the nightclub’s owner," Chi Ye said with a frown.

The man leaned in and whispered something in the woman’s ear. The woman in red then swayed her hips and walked toward Wen Qian and the others. A moment later, she held out an invitation card.

Ling Xuan took the invitation and glanced at it, his expression changing instantly. "Young Master, it’s a Life and Death Contract to enter the competition."

’It seems they’ve misunderstood something...’

’He thinks we’re here to compete.’

"It’s deliberate," Gu Mian said, his face darkening. Then, as if he’d realized something, his voice grew colder. "They know about the Critical Stone."

This was human territory, yet something from the Beast World was here. It was highly likely that someone had leaked information about the Critical Stone.

"So what they mean is..." Wen Qian frowned. Then, as if a thought struck her, she said, "Don’t tell me they want to make..."

"They want us to compete," Chi Heng said in a low voice.

To take anything from the nightclub, a Beastman had to compete and win ten consecutive matches.

This Beast Fighting Arena was different from other underground fighting rings. Here, there were three types of matches: one to win money, one to win lives, and one to win objects.

Winning money, as the name implies, meant winning betting chips.

Winning lives meant winning the Contracts of the Beastmen who had sold themselves to the nightclub.

And winning objects meant choosing any single item within the nightclub to take away.

"No way, that’s too dangerous," Wen Qian gasped.

A Beastman had already fallen in the cage. That was just one match—what kind of ridiculously powerful Beastman could win ten in a row?

Even a powerful one would be useless; their stamina would never hold up.

"We can have Chi Heng go up..." Chi Ye said, rubbing his chin.

Chi Heng can turn into a Werewolf. From the looks of it, a Werewolf’s strength is far greater than a Beastman’s, which would significantly increase their chances of winning.

Yin Zhi asked, "Are you planning to have Chi Heng stall them?"

Chi Ye nodded. "You guys take the Inspection Envoy and find the Critical Stone’s location. Chi Heng and I will stay here. If we split up, our chances will be better."

Gu Mian was silent for a moment, then shifted his gaze to Yin Zhi. "Gather your people."

No Beastman had ever won the tenth round in the Beast Fighting Arena. Stalling for time was a last resort. Besides, even if they successfully found the fragment, getting it out would be no easy task.
