My Child and I Married a Billionaire
Chapter 311: The Innocent Filter ShattersWhat the fuck, what is even happening?!
Damien Vaughn actually has a sister! He was finding a man for his sister, and he was even telling me to hurry up?
If he hadn’t known Damien Vaughn for so many years and understood his temperament so well, Brandon Jacobs would have thought he was on a whole other level of scheming, making Brandon feel utterly outclassed.
He’d always been into girls with long legs and a cool, fierce vibe.
He had to admit, Damien Vaughn’s sister was exactly his type.
But this was just too...
The thought of getting with the sister while her brother watched gave Brandon Jacobs a serious mental block.
"Hey, miss, what’s your name? Are we, uh, uh..."
The girl opened her mouth, speaking fluent English as she expertly draped a hand over his shoulder.
"Elsa. You’re not bad looking, and your body’s fine. Since you’re his friend, your overall quality can’t be bad. You’ll do. Come with me."
Before Brandon Jacobs could even react, Elsa grabbed a bottle of wine in one hand, seized him by the collar with the other, and dragged him into a nearby room.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, miss! Elsa! Elsa! Wait, don’t start undressing me, hey..."
Damien Vaughn turned and went upstairs.
In the largest room upstairs, Mrs. Vaughn lay quietly, her body covered in medical monitors.
Damien Vaughn sat down beside her, took her hand, and pressed it against his face, lowering his head.
After what felt like an eternity, just as Damien Vaughn felt his patience wearing thin, his phone finally buzzed.
He glanced at the screen. Brandon Jacobs.
"Mom, I’ll come see you another day. Get some rest."
Damien Vaughn stood up, placed a light kiss on his mother’s forehead, and quietly made his way downstairs.
The living room was just as they’d left it, but Brandon Jacobs looked like a completely different person.
He was fidgeting like a nervous bride, unsure whether to stand or sit, to meet Damien Vaughn’s gaze or to look away.
Damien Vaughn said nothing, simply walking past him. Brandon Jacobs followed him back to the car.
He’d had a million questions on the way there, but on the way back, he was as quiet as a mouse.
They were halfway through the drive before Brandon Jacobs still looked like he hadn’t recovered from the shock.
Damien Vaughn glanced at him, suddenly feeling he was rather pathetic, and reached out to pat his shoulder.
"Thanks for your trouble. Let me explain what’s going on."
"She is indeed my sister. Her English name is Elsa, but she doesn’t have a Chinese name because she’s not my father’s biological daughter."
"What?"
"As you know, my parents’ relationship was rocky back then. They started fighting constantly about a year after I was born. My father had someone on the side, and my mother is a very strong-willed person. She couldn’t accept his infidelity, so it was only natural that she chose to retaliate. As for how she ended up giving birth to Elsa, or whether my father and grandfather knew about her existence, I have no idea. I only found out about it a few years ago when I was studying abroad. The reason my mother stayed away for so many years and refused to come back was to be with her."
Damien Vaughn’s voice was as calm as if he were reading a recipe, but Brandon Jacobs was once again shocked to his core.
’What is going on! Is this even the Vaughn Family I thought I knew?!’
Damien Vaughn continued, "You must be wondering why Elsa suddenly came back. I asked her to. She’s a doctor. My mother didn’t actually die when she fell down the stairs. I’ve had them settled here recently, and Elsa has been taking care of her."
Brandon Jacobs: "?!"
"I know what you’re thinking now: if my mother didn’t die, why did I announce her death to everyone? There are many reasons, but I’ll only explain one to you. I have selfish intentions when it comes to Cecelia Archer. At that time, I didn’t know that Candy was my biological daughter. To make Cecelia feel guilty, to ensure she could never escape from my side, I wanted to use my mother’s death to trap her."
"What? That little girl is your biological daughter?"
Brandon Jacobs felt like he couldn’t listen anymore.
’What kind of surreal madness is this? One thing after another, even a laid-back guy like me can’t accept any of it!’
"Stop, stop, stop. Don’t tell me any more for now. It’s too much information, I can’t process it all at once..."
Damien Vaughn didn’t stop.
"So, besides me, Elsa, and my mother, you are now the fourth person who knows about this. Jacobs..."
Brandon Jacobs quickly cut him off.
"I definitely won’t betray you! Not only are we good friends, but now Elsa and I..."
At the mention of Elsa, he recalled the recent scene, and a wistful expression couldn’t help but cross his face.
"But the question is, did this tactic even work? Have you managed to trap Cecelia Archer? Hasn’t she just run off to Shane Grant’s side anyway? You went through all this trouble for nothing..."
"We’ve already registered our marriage."
Speaking of his wife, Damien Vaughn’s expression couldn’t help but soften slightly.
"Just a few days ago."
"What?"
Brandon Jacobs felt like he didn’t know Damien Vaughn at all anymore.
’What on earth is this seemingly strait-laced guy busy with all day?’
"So, this... this thing, can you really hide it from Cecelia Archer? What if one day she finds out your mom is..."
Damien Vaughn stared straight ahead, his expression resolute.
"She won’t. As long as you don’t say anything, she will never find out. I’ve put in too much effort and sacrificed too much to have her; I can never let her know."
"But you and Cecelia Archer getting married... your mom and your grandfather..."
"Their opinions are no longer important."
After speaking, Damien Vaughn gave Brandon Jacobs another heavy look.
"I’ve basically put my entire life in your hands now. You’d better keep your mouth shut."
’I’d have been better off not knowing any of this,’ Brandon Jacobs thought.
Life was so much happier before, when he was carefree and didn’t have any secrets. Now he was a nervous wreck.
"Okay, okay, fine. I’ll stop drinking from now on. I promise I won’t spill the secret. So, uh, about you-know-who... can I get Elsa’s contact info?"
Damien Vaughn asked a stupid question: "What for?"
’What the hell! We already did... *that*! And she’s Damien Vaughn’s sister, so I can’t even chat with her and try to build a relationship or something?’
Before Brandon Jacobs could get the words out, Damien Vaughn shot him a warning glance.
"Don’t get any ideas. Elsa isn’t going to get serious with you."
"What?"
"She doesn’t like Veridia and won’t be staying here for long. Besides, her personality isn’t a good fit for you, and it’s an even worse fit for your family. There’s no way she could marry into your family."
Brandon Jacobs’s heart sank.
Elsa was totally his type, and she was the first woman he’d been with like that as an adult. He was already starting to fantasize about their future together...
"How can you guys do this? Are you just using me as a tool? Use me and toss me aside? What the hell am I in your eyes?"
Damien Vaughn was determined to be ruthless to the very end.
"If you’re willing to continue like this, I’ll call you next time. If you’re not, then find me a replacement as soon as possible, per my requirements. Aren’t there plenty of poor male college students? Focus your efforts on them. I don’t mind spending a little more money."
Brandon Jacobs, once again: "?!"
