Brandon Jacobs said nothing, just tossed Elsa onto the bed.
They stayed holed up in the hotel for two whole days.
For two whole days, they didn’t once step out of the room.
When they weren’t eating or sleeping, they were going at it nonstop. Brandon Jacobs’s infatuation with Elsa had reached an almost fanatical level.
When he opened his eyes on the morning of the third day, Brandon Jacobs leaned in to kiss Elsa as usual, but she turned away.
"I’m tired. I want to go out for a walk. Will you come with me?"
Brandon Jacobs thought he wasn’t fully awake, that he was just hearing her voice in a dream.
’He knew his place perfectly well. To Elsa, wasn’t he just useful in bed? How could he possibly deserve to go shopping with her?’
Thinking it was a wonderful dream, Brandon Jacobs quickly shut his eyes, trying to force himself back to sleep so the pleasant fantasy could continue.
But to his surprise, Elsa propped her head up and rested it on his chest.
"Why are you ignoring me? You don’t want to go?"
Only then did Brandon Jacobs realize it wasn’t a dream.
’Willing? He was more than willing!’
"Where do you want to go?"
"A supermarket. I want to do some crafting. Come with me to buy supplies."
Brandon Jacobs assumed she wanted to do some kind of sophisticated craft. After they got out of bed, dressed, and washed up, he took her to a large chain department store.
Elsa looked around the entire store but didn’t buy a single thing.
"They don’t have what I want here. Is there a flea market or something around?"
"You want to buy second-hand stuff?"
"I want to buy all sorts of small parts to assemble at home myself. I like putting things together."
Brandon Jacobs asked around and found a cheap wholesale market for small goods.
It was as if Elsa had returned to her natural habitat. A smile lit up her face the moment she stepped through the market’s entrance.
"Yes! This is exactly the kind of place I was looking for. You’re amazing!"
Brandon Jacobs: "..."
’She’d never praised him once when he worked himself to death for her in bed. She’d never praised him once when he was ready to dig his heart out and feed it to her. But he brings her to a cheap market, and suddenly he’s amazing?’
Elsa was like a little girl in kindergarten, unable to put anything down and constantly exclaiming in amazement.
"Wow, the pearls come in so many different sizes. I’ve never seen so many pearls before. They’re so beautiful. I want this one... and this one too."
"There are so many types of plastic figurines? I want them all."
"Wow, the colors of these beads are all so beautiful! I’m going to buy them and make bracelets at home."
"So many pretty nail polishes... I want them all."
Brandon Jacobs realized just how much she must have missed out on during her childhood. ’Most adult women wouldn’t give these childish things a second look, would they?’
"If you like it, buy it. None of this stuff is expensive anyway."
She picked things out, and Brandon Jacobs followed behind her, paying for it all.
After shopping for over two hours, they had somehow bought over thirty pounds of stuff, filling two enormous shopping bags.
Brandon Jacobs asked if she was tired and wanted to grab a bite to eat before heading back, but Elsa shook her head vigorously.
"No, no! I can’t wait to get back and start my ’work.’ Let’s go, quickly."
She was tall and slender, and in her black overcoat and black boots, she usually looked every bit the stoic supermodel. But today, she was skipping and hopping about, looking absolutely adorable.
Brandon Jacobs’s eyes followed her every move and expression, and her delight was so infectious that his own heart swelled with joy.
’How could any girl in the world be so endearing?’
Back in the room, the first thing Elsa did was dump all their purchases onto the floor.
She tossed aside her coat, knelt on the floor, and began meticulously sorting everything.
Her beautiful, slender hands holding those cute trinkets made her seem even more adorable herself.
Brandon Jacobs helped her, and together they sorted the cute little items into clear plastic boxes. When they finished, there were over a hundred boxes arranged on the floor, almost completely covering it.
"I’m so happy. I want to make all of these things as soon as possible. I’m so excited. It’s been so long since I’ve felt this relaxed."
Brandon Jacobs watched her fondly. "Silly girl. You’ve been at this for ages; aren’t you hungry? Did you forget you even have to eat?"
"I’m not hungry."
With that, Elsa prepared to begin, picking out a few of her favorite boxes and moving to the coffee table.
Seeing how completely absorbed she was, as if possessed, Brandon Jacobs shook his head, ordered lunch to be sent up, and held a bite to her lips.
Like a little kid, Elsa remained lost in her own world, taking a bite every now and then when he offered it.
Brandon Jacobs could already imagine what it would be like if they had a daughter.
"Having fun? Can I join you?"
"It is. Sure."
Following her lead, Brandon Jacobs used a hot glue gun to stick an assortment of plastic figurines onto a semicircular plastic base, and just like that, a cute hair clip was made.
Elsa looked at her "student" with satisfaction and, for the first time, took the initiative to share something about her past with him.
"I’ve loved making these things since I was a little girl. If you sat quietly in one place and worked on something silently, you’d get praised. When I was young, my nanny would praise me endlessly just so I wouldn’t bother her. I could sit in one spot without eating or drinking for an entire day."
’What?’
’So that’s how she developed this fixation. It was born from such a twisted part of her childhood.’
Brandon Jacobs’s heart ached. He wanted to say something, but Elsa cut him off.
"I’m telling you this just to share, not because I want you to say anything. I think it’s nice, and I genuinely enjoy it. If you’re bored, feel free to go do your own thing. I won’t force you to stay."
"Not at all," Brandon Jacobs said. He wasn’t bored in the slightest.
He used to be such a restless, flamboyant person.
But ever since he met her, as long as he could be with her, anything they did felt blissful and fascinating.
"The reason I chose to become a doctor is because doctors get to perform surgery. You get to hold a scalpel and quietly, silently do your work, and you even get praised for it. There’s no better job in the world."
"What kind of doctor are you?"
The topic inevitably made Brandon Jacobs think about the medicine he’d seen her take.
"Elsa, can I ask you a question?"
But Elsa was only in the mood to share, not to answer questions.
"Okay, I’ve used up everything in these boxes. Time for the next set. Why don’t you lie back and let me do your nails? I used to do it for my three dogs back home. I haven’t done it for anyone in a long time, and my hands are itching for it."
’She gave her dogs manicures? How bizarre.’
A big guy like Brandon Jacobs should have refused, but the thought of her holding his hand in hers, patiently caressing it...
"Can you do my feet, too?"
Elsa was pleasantly surprised. "Of course."
As long as he was willing to be her human mannequin, she was up for it.
She hadn’t suggested it herself for fear that Brandon Jacobs would think she was a pervert.
Brandon Jacobs leaned back on the sofa while Elsa pulled up a small stool and sat in front of him.
She deftly took his hand, applying alcohol, removing the dead skin, filing his nails...
As she gently yet attentively caressed his hand over and over, Brandon Jacobs felt so blissful he could have floated away.
