My Class is Null, But I Always Get the Best Outcome

The massive explosion kept illuminating the heavens. Nobody could see Tiamat through the light.

The hunters stood exhausted below. Kai barely stayed on his feet. Raze leaned heavily against his greatsword. Mira’s armor hung cracked and broken across her shoulders. Sera’s shield bore a deep fracture running the length of it. Lily had almost no Spirit Archers left standing. Elden’s breathing came ragged and uneven.

Everyone waited.

The golden light slowly faded. Clouds crept back in overhead, smoke spreading across the sky in thin gray streaks.

Then something fell from above.

A single drop of blood.

Then another.

Drip.

Drip.

Kai looked up. "Blood?"

A massive silhouette became visible as the light continued fading, resolving slowly into a shape everyone recognized.

Tiamat was still there. But she looked completely different now.

Her body bore severe damage everywhere, blood pouring freely from multiple wounds. One arm was missing entirely. Part of one leg had vanished as well. Large sections of her body flickered and broke apart into drifting crimson particles before reforming unsteadily. Her clothes hung torn and ruined. Her hair fell loose and disheveled across her face.

She looked, for the first time since stepping through the gate, like something barely holding itself together.

Nobody spoke. Even Gabriel froze in place. Lily’s mouth fell open. Elden simply stared. Mira slowly lowered her hammer.

Sera whispered, "We did that?"

Tiamat hung motionless in the air, blood still falling steadily.

Drip.

Drip.

For the first time, she looked genuinely defeated.

One hunter somewhere in the crowd screamed, "WE DID IT!"

The silence shattered instantly. Cheers erupted across Mythal, rolling from district to district. Hunters threw their weapons skyward. Some dropped to their knees laughing. Others grabbed the nearest person and hugged them without a word.

Raze threw his head back and laughed, loud enough to carry across three blocks. "HAHAHAHAHA!"

Mira smiled, still not quite believing it. "We actually did it."

Sera turned to Kai. "We actually beat her."

Lily was nearly crying. "The plan worked."

Elden adjusted his cracked glasses slowly. "It actually worked."

Mayor Ko stared up at the fading light for several long seconds before finally laughing, genuine and exhausted all at once. "We did it."

The Astral Church members reacted even harder. Several openly cried. Others embraced each other without a word. A few simply stared at Tiamat’s ruined form like they were witnessing something that shouldn’t have been possible in the first place.

One elderly member whispered, "After all those civilizations."

Another finished it for him. "Someone finally did it."

Gabriel couldn’t speak at all. She stared at Tiamat, her entire life flashing behind her eyes in that moment, the lessons taught to her at six years old, the records she’d memorized, the histories of failure passed down through generation after generation of the Church, every warning drilled into her since childhood.

And now Tiamat was bleeding.

Gabriel covered her mouth with both hands, tears streaming freely. "It worked." A laugh broke through the tears. "It actually worked."

She looked toward Kai. "You did it."

Kai looked toward Tiamat’s ruined body, and even he couldn’t help the small smile that crossed his face. "Looks like we really did."

The celebration got a moment to breathe after that. Raze slapped Kai hard on the shoulder, nearly knocking him off balance.

"We actually survived that."

Kai staggered. "Don’t hit me."

"You survived worse."

Mira laughed. Sera shook her head, smiling despite everything. Lily started rattling off numbers about the beam’s energy output, and Elden immediately began correcting her math mid-sentence, both of them too excited to notice they were arguing.

Mayor Ko looked out over the quiet, empty streets. For the first time in weeks, Mythal felt genuinely peaceful. No screaming. No running. No fighting anywhere in the city.

They’d survived.

Then Kai noticed something.

A single drop of blood, still falling from Tiamat, stopped mid-air.

His smile disappeared. "Huh?"

Raze’s laughter cut off mid-breath. A piece of floating debris hung motionless in the air. Smoke stopped drifting entirely. A strand of Lily’s hair froze in place, caught mid-swing. The golden light still glowing faintly beneath the city’s streets simply stopped moving.

Kai looked around slowly. Everyone had gone completely still.

Sera. Mira. Raze. Lily. Elden. Mayor Ko. Gabriel.

Nobody moved. Nobody breathed.

Kai’s eyes widened. "What?"

He took a step. Nothing responded around him.

He looked toward Gabriel. Frozen mid-tear, hand still pressed against her mouth.

His heartbeat suddenly felt too loud in his own ears.

"Time," he said quietly, looking back up toward Tiamat’s motionless silhouette.

"stopped."

Then he felt something pull at him from somewhere inside his own chest. Not physical. Not mana.

Something deeper.

His Distortion.

His eyes widened further. "No."

The pull grew stronger, and the entire city seemed to stretch around him, buildings smearing into streaks of light. The street beneath his feet disappeared entirely.

He tried to resist it. He couldn’t.

Something was dragging him straight toward Tiamat.

He reached out on instinct. "Wait!"

Nobody answered. Everyone remained exactly where they’d frozen.

He got pulled faster, through streets, through buildings, past every one of his frozen friends, past the glowing relay network still holding its light in suspended stillness.

Then everything stopped at once.

Kai landed directly in front of Tiamat.

The battlefield had gone completely silent. No hunters. No Gabriel. No city at all.

Only the two of them.

Her body remained severely damaged, blood still hanging mid-drip in the frozen air around her.

Kai slowly raised his weapon.

Then something changed.

The crimson particles drifting off her began reversing course, flowing back into her body instead of breaking away. Her missing arm reformed, joint by joint. Her damaged leg returned. The cracks running across her body sealed shut. The blood stopped flowing entirely.

Kai’s eyes widened. "What?"

Tiamat slowly raised her head. Her crimson eyes opened, and for the first time since she’d stepped through the crimson gate, she looked directly at him and spoke.

"Not bad."

Kai froze.

She glanced across the ruined battlefield frozen around them. "That blow is good enough." A pause. "For all of you to pass this Disaster."

Kai’s expression collapsed into disbelief. "Pass?"

Strange light descended from somewhere above, surrounding her entirely. Kai raised an arm instinctively against the brightness.

The light intensified, and her body fully restored itself in front of him, missing limbs returning whole, wounds sealing without a trace, torn clothing repairing itself thread by thread, blood vanishing entirely.

The woman standing before him now looked completely untouched. Not even a scar remained anywhere on her.

Kai stared. "You—"

Tiamat looked at him calmly. "Don’t worry."

She glanced back toward the frozen city behind him. "They’re still alive."

Kai’s expression stayed frozen in place as the realization set in. The explosion hadn’t defeated her at all.

It had been a test.

And somehow, impossibly, they’d passed it.

Kai’s fist clenched slowly. "You knew."

Tiamat didn’t answer right away. Instead she studied him, her crimson eyes seeming to look past everything, past his Class, past his level, past every ability he’d ever earned.

Then she smiled faintly. "You are different."

Kai frowned. "What are you talking about?"

She stepped closer. "Let’s talk."

A pause. Her eyes narrowed slightly.

"Ruler Breaker."

Kai’s eyes went wide.
