My Clones Can Cultivate

Chapter 189: Triggering Berserker

Chapter 189

Earlier... Liyu had just been sent crashing into the pillar once more.

BOOM!

The massive impact caused the entire pillar to tremble violently, and Liyu’s body slid downward from its surface like a broken puppet whose strings had been cut. He coughed violently.

A large mouthful of blood burst from his mouth, splattering across the cracked marble beneath him. His body shook uncontrollably from exhaustion. Every muscle screamed. Every bone hurt. Every inch of his body felt as though it had been torn apart and brutally pieced back together only to be shattered once more.

Liyu tried to rise. His palms pressed against the ground. His arms trembled as he attempted to force himself upward. But the moment he tried to put weight on his legs... Crack! An unbearable wave of pain shot through his entire nervous system.

His legs had been shattered again. Liyu’s body immediately collapsed back down. His teeth clenched tightly. For an ordinary person, the pain currently coursing through Liyu’s body would have been enough to make them scream at the top of their lungs. Most would have collapsed. Some would have fainted. Others might have entered a coma from the sheer intensity of the agony.

And yet Liyu merely sat there. His breathing was heavy. His body was trembling. Blood continued to flow from various wounds. But his gaze remained strangely calm, composed, and focused. It was almost abnormal.

One could even say that Liyu was no longer entirely normal for being able to endure this much pain without losing himself. He didn’t scream. He didn’t beg. He didn’t complain. He simply lowered his head and pushed every ounce of his concentration into one thing: healing.

His Primal Qi surged through his damaged body. He focused it toward his shattered knees and ankles, carefully controlling the violent energy as it flowed through his limbs. Pain surged through him again. His nerves burned. His muscles spasmed. But Liyu endured it. He endured everything.

Bit by bit, the shattered bones began to reconnect. The cracks slowly disappeared. The damaged joints were restored. His knees regained their structure. His ankles were reconstructed.

And after what felt like an eternity, Liyu was finally able to stand again, although he stumbled several times. His legs were still trembling badly, and his body swayed dangerously from side to side. But eventually, he managed to regain his balance. He stood firmly once more.

The system’s worried voice immediately rang inside his mind. *Host... by "plan," do you mean you’re really planning on using that?*

The system’s tone was apprehensive. It was almost as though even now, it still couldn’t completely believe what Liyu was planning to do.

Ever since Liyu had declared that he still had one final card to play, and had even gone as far as saying that allowing himself to be beaten, battered, and broken was all part of his plan, the system had gradually come to a terrifying realization. It had begun to understand what Liyu might be attempting.

The system hadn’t considered the possibility at first, simply because the skill Liyu seemed to be waiting for was one that had been tested time and time again: Berserker. The skill had been tested repeatedly.

And yet... it had never activated. Not once. Based on the system’s analysis, there had to be another condition required for Berserker to activate besides the only condition stated in its description... near-death state.

That was the only known requirement. Liyu had to be standing one step away from death. His life had to be hanging by a thread before Berserker could activate.

And Liyu had already tried to trigger it twice. The first time had been against the Saber Panther back in the Beast Forest. The second time had been against his own clone. On both occasions, Liyu had pushed himself into an extremely dangerous condition.

He had tried to trigger Berserker. He had desperately needed it. Yet nothing happened. The skill remained inactive. It didn’t matter how close he came to death. It didn’t matter how badly injured he became. It simply refused to activate. Therefore, the system’s conclusion that there must be another hidden condition was extremely valid.

*Host, I understand that you want to use Berserker,* the system paused, *and based on the skill and its description, it could probably be enough to help you win this battle.* Another pause. *But there is a big problem that I don’t think you’re considering.*

Liyu remained silent.

The system continued, *We still have absolutely no idea what the second trigger for that skill is.* Its tone became increasingly serious.

*For now, Berserker is still an unknown card. An uncertain variable. If you push yourself all the way to the edge of death and the skill still doesn’t activate, then you will have done nothing except put your life in danger and risk everything for nothing.*

The system’s voice became almost pleading. *Host, I still don’t think this is worth it.*

Liyu remained silent for a while. Then... BOOM! His body was sent flying once more. He crashed through the air like a rag doll before smashing into another section of the massive pillar. Blood sprayed from his mouth. His body slid down the stone once more.

Yet even then... a chuckle escaped his throat. It was weak, ragged, and almost drowned beneath the pain. But it was still a chuckle.

"Don’t worry, Sys..." Liyu slowly lifted his head. His face was covered in blood, yet there was still that familiar smile at the corner of his lips. "I’m not crazy." He paused. His expression became slightly awkward. "Well..." Another faint chuckle escaped him. "Maybe I am slightly crazy."

The system remained completely silent.

Liyu’s smile widened. "But I’m not stupid." His eyes slowly sharpened. "I have a strong hint about what the second trigger is." His voice was weak, but his conviction was absolute. "And trust me..." Liyu slowly pushed himself up from the ground once more, "...it will work."

The system remained silent for a long while, as if it was trying to convince itself that Liyu’s plan could actually work. It had seen Liyu pull off ridiculous plans before... plans that sounded completely insane when first explained, yet somehow worked out in the end.

Every single one of them had been risky. Every single one had pushed Liyu dangerously close to disaster. But somehow, they had always worked. Perhaps this one could be the same.

*...Okay, Host,* the system finally spoke. *Good luck.*

Liyu nodded slightly. He already had a very strong idea of what the second trigger was. He didn’t have absolute certainty. But his instincts were telling him that he was right. And at this point, he had no other choice but to trust those instincts.

The first condition had to be completed. That meant reaching the very doorstep of death... not simply being injured, not simply being exhausted. He had to be near death. And Guan Haoran himself would be the tool he used to accomplish that.

Liyu took another step forward. He inhaled deeply. His chest rose slowly as he gathered what little strength remained within his battered body. Then... he charged.

And then he was crushed. His body was sent flying. He healed. He stood. He walked forward again. And once more... he was crushed. Again. And again. And again.

Every time Liyu approached, Haoran’s overwhelming strength sent him crashing away. Every time his body was shattered, Liyu forced his Primal Qi through his injuries and healed himself. Then he stood. Then he walked forward. Then he was crushed again. It became a terrifying cycle: attack, impact, destruction, healing, standing, repeating.

Liyu’s breathing gradually became slower... not because the pain was disappearing. Quite the opposite. His mind was beginning to blur. His body. His soul. His spirit. Everything within him seemed to be screaming in agony.

Every nerve was burning. Every bone felt as though it had been crushed into dust and reconstructed only to be destroyed again. His vision constantly flickered. Sometimes the entire world before him would become nothing but a blur.

Sometimes he could barely hear the roaring crowd. Sometimes even the system’s voice sounded distant, as though it were coming from the other end of an endless void.

Yet Liyu continued. He refused to stop. Eventually, he slowly stood once more. Blood had gathered beneath his feet, forming a small crimson pool. His body swayed. His head hung slightly.

His breathing was so faint that it almost seemed like he had already died. But his eyes remained open.

The first condition... had been completed.

And now came the second trigger. This was the part that would determine everything. If his prediction was correct, then he would win.

If he was wrong... then he would have to accept the fact that he had lost. He would have failed. And worse than that... he would have failed to fulfill his promise.

Liyu’s fingers trembled slightly. He took a slow breath. Then he passed some information to the system. The system remained silent for a while. Then its voice finally reached him: *"Okay."*

The system understood the procedure. Liyu’s lips curved upward slightly. His voice was broken when he finally spoke, sounding almost like that of a dying man. "Okay, Sys..." His consciousness was wavering. "I’ll leave the rest to you."

There was a long silence. Then, after a while, the system’s voice finally rang through his mind. *"Okay, Host. Good luck."*

Liyu smiled. But slowly... that smile faded. His expression became completely solemn.

Now then... it was time for the second trigger.

Liyu reached deep within himself. Deeper than he had ever gone before.

He reached into the deepest, darkest corners of his mind and began dragging everything out. Every emotion he had buried. Every emotion he had suppressed. Every wound that had never truly healed. Every humiliation. Every shame. Every hatred. Every ounce of anger. Every single negative emotion that had scarred him. He pulled them all toward the surface.

The shame he had felt whenever he was called a failure. The scornful and wrathful gazes that had been directed toward him. The looks from the people he had once considered friends. The looks from those he had considered allies.

The looks from those he had once thought of as family. All of them. Every single one of them had looked down upon him... some with disgust, some with disappointment, and some... with pity.

He remembered those eyes. He remembered those expressions. He remembered every forced smile, every sympathetic gaze, every painful look that seemed to say that they were sorry for him. And he hated it. He hated every last bit of it.

Even the looks of pity on his uncle’s face. Even the look on Yuexin’s face whenever she looked at him with love mixed with pain. He hated those looks too. Not because they came from hatred. Not because they came from malice.

But because they reminded him of what everyone thought he was: someone who needed to be pitied, someone who needed to be protected, someone who could never stand on the same level as everyone else.

He hated the fact that no one looked at him normally. He just wanted to be treated like everyone else... like a normal person, like a human being. Yet no matter how hard he tried... that never happened. It was as though even the heavens themselves looked down upon him.

He had prayed. He had meditated. He had trained. He had begged. He had cried. He had bled. He had sacrificed everything he could. And still... the heavens never answered his prayers.

No matter how much he struggled, he remained the same: the failed heir, the disgrace, the scum, the piece of trash in everyone’s eyes. And those who didn’t see him as trash? They pitied him. That was somehow even worse.

Liyu’s fingers slowly curled into fists. His nails dug into his palms. His body trembled. His breathing became heavier. He pulled every single one of those emotions from the depths of his mind. He didn’t suppress them.

He didn’t reject them. He didn’t try to calm himself. For the first time... he allowed himself to feel everything: the shame, the humiliation, the anger, the resentment, the hatred, the despair, the desperation, the pain. He dragged it all into the light.

Liyu’s hands twitched violently as he felt as though his mind was about to be completely overwhelmed by the negative emotions flashing across it. They kept piling up. Over and over again. One emotion after another.

One memory after another. Every negative feeling he had suffered in the Beast Forest came rushing back: the fear, the pain, the desperation, the countless moments when he had been surrounded by danger and had felt as though death was breathing down his neck.

Everything piled up upon everything else, layering itself deeper and deeper inside his already battered mind.

Liyu’s body began to shake. His fingers trembled. His breathing became increasingly ragged. His consciousness swayed dangerously on the edge. He could feel it. He was getting close. Very close. But... it still wasn’t enough. Not yet. He needed more. Much more.

So Liyu reached even deeper into himself and dragged out the rest of the negative emotions buried within his own mind. He was Rayden, after all. He had his own pain, his own memories, his own scars, his own negative emotions: the feeling of being alone, the feeling of being abandoned, the feeling of being forgotten.

All those emotions he had carried with him for so long came rushing out as well. He broke them apart and piled them on top of all the other negative emotions already flooding his mind. More. More. And more. He kept feeding them into the growing storm inside his consciousness.

His mind became increasingly chaotic. His thoughts became increasingly distorted. His breathing grew heavier. His body trembled harder. His consciousness was now tethering on the very edge of total collapse.

It felt as though his mind was being stretched beyond its limits... as though one more emotion, one more painful memory, one more ounce of negativity... would be enough to completely shatter it.

And yet Liyu refused to stop. Instead, he forced his lips to move. He forced himself to repeat a single word. Again. And again. And again.

"Punch..." His voice was barely audible.

"Punch..." His fingers twitched.

"Punch..."

The word kept repeating inside his mind. At first, it was nothing more than a whisper. Then it became louder. Punch. Punch. Punch. His mind suddenly exploded beneath the overwhelming flood of negative emotions. His very soul seemed to cry out in pain and sorrow.

And at that exact moment... the sound of the system notification reached Liyu’s ears.

Ding!

[Massive negative emotion has been detected.]

[Host’s condition is critical.]

[Current state: Near Death.]

[Massive negative emotions are stirring and overriding the Host’s mental state.]

[Attempting safety suppression.]

A brief pause. Then...

[Suppression failed.]

Several moments passed. And then another system notification appeared.

Ding!

[Berserker has been activated.]

[All Stats have been amplified by a hundredfold.]

Back to the Present...

Liyu’s body suddenly arched upward. His back bent slightly as though an invisible force had seized his entire body. Then... everything went silent.

The overwhelming emotions that had been violently stirring inside his mind suddenly vanished. The fear. The pain. The shame. The sorrow. The anger. The hatred. Everything disappeared. All of it was replaced by a single emotion, a single desire, a single overwhelming urge: *tear everything apart.*

That was all that remained. The urge to crush everything that had caused him pain and sorrow. The urge to rip everything apart. The urge to destroy.

Liyu’s eyes suddenly opened. They were no longer the familiar yellow slits; they had become a blinding crimson red. Overwhelming power flooded every inch of his body.

His muscles began to crack. His bones trembled. The weak muscles that had once made up his body began breaking apart beneath the overwhelming transformation.

Crack!

Crack!

The muscles tore and shattered, only for stronger ones to replace them. His flesh was being reforged. His body was being reconstructed: stronger, denser, far more durable.

His physique seemed to enlarge slightly as his muscles swelled beneath his skin. Red veins spread across his body, pulsing rhythmically like countless tiny hearts beating beneath his flesh.

Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

The sound seemed to echo through his entire body. Liyu finally raised his head. His eyes were burning crimson, looking almost like blazing red stars had been shoved directly into his eye sockets. There was no trace of rationality within his gaze.

No hesitation. No fear. No restraint. His gaze belonged to an enraged beast that had been pushed beyond the point of reason and now wanted nothing more than to tear everything standing before it into shreds.

His claws sharpened. They elongated. They transformed into something even more terrifying than the claws of an apex predator. His fangs underwent the same transformation, lengthening, sharpening, and gleaming dangerously beneath the light. Liyu suddenly threw his head backward.

And then...

ROOOOOOOOOAR!

A terrifying roar erupted from his mouth. The sound shook the very air. The entire battlefield seemed to tremble beneath it.

A dark-red aura suddenly erupted from his body and enveloped him completely, radiating an overwhelming sense of dread and a feeling of pure destruction. Even the atmosphere around him seemed to become heavier.

*Kill. Kill.* That was the only word remaining inside Liyu’s mind.

But then another word replaced it: *Punch.*

His crimson eyes twitched. "Punch..." His brow furrowed slightly. He looked down at his own hand.

He would rather tear everything apart with his newly sharpened, blade-like claws. Those claws were perfect for tearing, perfect for ripping, perfect for destruction. Why would he need to punch anything?

Yet the command continued to reverberate inside his mind. Punch. Punch. Punch. The urge to punch something suddenly exploded within his consciousness. Liyu’s crimson eyes shifted. They locked onto the person closest to him: Guan Haoran.

And then... he launched forward.

BOOM!

The stage shook violently beneath his feet. The marble cracked, then shattered. Liyu’s figure flashed forward like a lightning bolt. His speed was so terrifying that his body seemed to disappear completely from the eyes of the ordinary spectators.

Yet Haoran wasn’t frightened. He didn’t panic. He didn’t even retreat. He simply raised one hand. World Qi surged toward his palm, rapidly condensing, gathered, compressed, and finally forming a massive white ball of energy around his fist.

Haoran remained as calm as ever. His expression was detached. His white eyes stared straight ahead. Then he threw his own punch forward.

At the same time, Liyu’s figure slowed as he approached. His feet planted firmly against the shattered stage.

His body twisted. His right hand pulled backward, as though gathering every ounce of momentum possible. The dark-red aura around him surged violently. His muscles tightened. His claws curled into a fist. And then... his right fist shot forward with everything he possessed.

"Behemoth Punch!" Liyu growled the words from deep within his throat.

There was no hesitation. No restraint. No holding back. He struck with everything.

The two fists finally collided.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

And then... what followed was...
