Chapter 199
The crowd was startled, to say the least, as they stared at what was happening on the stage below, with awe in some of their eyes... no, not awe, but shock and pure disbelief.
The match had only started a few minutes ago, perhaps two minutes at most, and yet, within that incredibly short period, Liyu had already been wounded three times, with the third attack being especially gruesome as he was now practically drenched in his own blood.
Blood covered his clothes, ran down his arms, dripped from his fingers, and stained the already-damaged marble beneath him while his entire body was riddled with wounds and his breathing had become noticeably heavier.
And all of that... Shi Tian hadn’t even lifted a finger... well, he had lifted a finger during the third attack, but during the first and second attacks, he hadn’t even done that.
That was all Shi Tian had done, and yet Liyu was now on one knee, seemingly exhausted and heavily wounded, his body trembling slightly beneath the accumulated pain.
The entire arena fell into a strange silence. *Can this even be called a match?* That was the thought occupying almost everyone’s mind as they stared at Liyu kneeling on the ground, totally and utterly wounded, his body drenched in blood.
"This is shocking..." someone finally muttered from within the crowd.
"I can’t believe it. He was overwhelmed like that from the very start..." The man’s voice trembled, making it more than obvious just how stunned he was. And honestly, that wasn’t surprising, as they were all stunned by the scene before them, which was simply too shocking.
"I made a mistake..." another spectator suddenly groaned, grabbing his head. "I should have placed my bet on the Devil, but now I’m going to lose for the fifth time in six bets!"
The guy shook his head bitterly. He had been confident that Liyu would win after all those endless victories in match after match, opponent after opponent, where every time someone thought he had finally reached his limit, Liyu would somehow shatter that expectation and emerge victorious.
That was exactly why the man had continued betting on him, but now, seeing how easily the Devil had completely overwhelmed Liyu without giving him even the slightest opportunity to fight back, he couldn’t help but regret his decision.
"Eh? Don’t belittle the Honored One like that!"
another spectator immediately argued back. "There is no way he is losing! Don’t you all have eyes? Can’t you see for yourselves? No matter how strong his opponent is... whether that opponent gets stronger with every match or not... the Honored One hasn’t lost a single battle, not even against the Iron Behemoth himself!"
He pointed toward the stage. "And here you are already starting to doubt him at the beginning of the battle? I say you watch the fight closely. I bet things are about to change!" His confidence was obvious.
Several people immediately argued against him. "Liyu is finished! There is no way he can beat Shi Tian after this! Look at him! He can barely even stand! Shi Tian hasn’t even gotten serious yet!"
But others refused to accept that conclusion. "The Honored One isn’t done yet. Exactly! We haven’t seen everything he can do. He has overturned impossible situations before. Don’t forget what happened against Guan Haoran! He might still find a way to turn this around!"
The arguments quickly spread through the audience, with one side insisting that Liyu was finished while the other remained convinced that he still had something hidden.
While the crowd argued, at the seat of the Li Clan, Li Feng simply stared at the stage with a completely emotionless face. After a long moment, he slowly shook his head. "Liyu should just give up as fast as possible."
His voice was low, with no mockery in it, no hatred, and no pleasure at seeing Liyu wounded..
it was simply his honest conclusion after witnessing what was happening.
Li Feng had faced Shi Tian before, and during that battle, he had experienced something he had never experienced before: helplessness, absolute helplessness. He had never felt so weak and powerless before anyone, but Shi Tian... Shi Tian was different.
No, when Li Feng said different, he didn’t mean slightly different; he meant completely different, as if the two of them weren’t even living in the same world when it came to their difference in power.
Li Feng had entered the legendary State of Flow, using everything he had, and yet he hadn’t even been able to touch Shi Tian not once, and in the end Shi Tian had crushed him with only three moves. Three.
Li Feng’s eyes narrowed slightly as he remembered that battle, and the more he thought about it now, the more certain he became: Shi Tian hadn’t even been serious when he fought him, not even close.
It was almost as if Shi Tian had been playing with a child simply because he found the situation amusing, completely overwhelming Li Feng without showing even an inch of seriousness. But Liyu’s situation... it was even worse, far worse.
Li Feng’s gaze slowly shifted toward Shi Tian. The Shi Tian standing on the stage right now was different from the one Li Feng had fought, far more dangerous, and Li Feng could make a guess as to why: *He’s serious.* His eyes narrowed. *Or at least... a little more serious than he was when he fought me.*
That alone was enough to make Li Feng’s heart sink. Shi Tian had only lifted a finger... one finger... and that alone had been enough to bring Liyu to this state: Liyu, the freak who had defeated one opponent after another.
Liyu, the one who had somehow defeated Guan Haoran even after the latter entered the Overflow State; Liyu, the so-called Honored One who had shattered every expectation placed upon him.
And yet, in front of Shi Tian, he looked almost powerless. The overwhelming difference between the two was now impossible to ignore, and there was simply no way Liyu could win this.
And the most concerning part wasn’t even that; it was the fact that Shi Tian still wasn’t serious. Li Feng slowly exhaled. "No wonder he’s called the Devil..." His gaze remained fixed upon the stage. "Crushing your opponent without even properly attacking..." A bitter expression appeared on his face. "He really is the Devil."
Meanwhile, Liyu himself was just as shocked as the rest of the crowd... startled, stunned, and, more than anything, in complete disbelief. The speed Shi Tian had displayed was simply too absurd. *That fast...? No, too fast.*
His movements were so fast that they almost made no sense whatsoever. Liyu had reacted immediately, using Linear Blink without the slightest hesitation the moment his instincts sensed danger, with his reaction speed already boosted by the various elixirs he had consumed and his Origin Eyes allowing him to perceive the incoming danger.
And yet, Shi Tian had still managed to wound him twice... no, three times now. It was ridiculous. Liyu couldn’t understand how someone could possess that kind of speed and precision while remaining so calm.
Not only that, but the fact that Shi Tian genuinely wanted to kill him had now been completely confirmed. *Isn’t this just an ordinary tournament?* Liyu frowned slightly.
*And clearly, one of the rules is no killing.* Yet this guy didn’t seem to care about any of those rules, not even a little, attacking him as if the tournament wasn’t a tournament at all, but an actual life-and-death battle.
Liyu slowly exhaled, a small smile gradually curling across his lips. "Well..." His yellow slit eyes narrowed dangerously. "If you want to kill me, and the referee isn’t stepping in..." His smile widened slightly. "Then I guess it’s my turn to kill you."
The instant those words fell, the hand that had been shredded apart by Shi Tian’s previous unseen attack suddenly moved. *Whoosh!* Flesh started regenerated, bones reformed, torn muscles knitted themselves back together, and skin reconstructed itself at a rather quick speed.
Several long moments later, Liyu’s mangled hand had returned to its original state, completely healed. And that wasn’t all, as the countless wounds covering his body began recovering as well: the cuts slowly closed, the bleeding stopped, damaged flesh rapidly regenerated, and the deep injuries across his body vanished one after another.
It took around two minutes for everything to heal fully... two minutes, that was all. The speed of his recovery displayed the truly ridiculous healing ability granted by his physique, one of Liyu’s major aces, and right now, it was proving exactly why.
Liyu slowly stood up, his two hands, which had remained pressed tightly against his neck to protect it from further injury, finally moving away as his neck had already recovered as well.
The thin lines that Shi Tian’s previous attacks had carved across it were completely gone, leaving behind flawless skin with not even the slightest scar.
Standing firmly on both feet with his head remaining lowered for a moment, Liyu looked across to see Shi Tian’s gaze remaining as emotionless as ever, calmly observing Liyu’s completely healed body.
"I see." His aloof voice echoed across the stage. "You really aren’t normal." There was no doubt about that. Cultivators possessed strong healing abilities compared to ordinary humans, especially once they began refining their bodies and Qi, but the kind of regeneration Liyu had just displayed... that was something that should only have been achievable after reaching the Core Stage, at the very least.
No mortal-stage cultivator should have been able to heal injuries this quickly; it was simply ridiculous. And instead of making Shi Tian reconsider his intention to kill Liyu, it only cemented his previous conclusion: this young man was an anomaly, a dangerous anomaly, and anomalies like this needed to be killed before they could grow.
"Come." Shi Tian’s expression remained cold. "Show me what you have left." He paused briefly. "Because this will be your last chance to show them." His eyes became slightly colder. "If you fail... you die."
Liyu slowly lifted his head, his yellow slit eyes now surrounded by pulsing white light, making his gaze appear even more feral and dangerous. "Really?" A faint grin appeared on his face. "Don’t worry." His body lowered slightly. "I won’t fail this time." His gaze locked directly onto Shi Tian.
"Because I’ve figured it all out." A dangerous light flashed within his eyes. "And now... it’s my turn to have one on you."
The moment he finished speaking, *BOOM!* Liyu blasted forward, activating his skills one after another. *Camouflage!* His presence disappeared, his traces were concealed, and his aura was masked.
But Liyu already knew that Camouflage alone wouldn’t be enough, as Shi Tian had discovered him far too easily the last time, and there was no reason to believe the same trick would suddenly work now.
And that was fine, because Liyu had never planned to rely on Camouflage to hide from him; he only needed it for one purpose: to trick him.
Liyu’s Origin Eyes suddenly glowed brilliantly, his vision piercing deeply into the world around him until... he saw them. White threads. Countless white threads woven throughout the space around Shi Tian, extremely thin, so thin that ordinary eyes would have absolutely no chance of seeing them. But Liyu could, as his Origin Eyes allowed him to clearly perceive every single one.
*Wind Qi...* Liyu’s eyes narrowed. So that was it. Those threads were made from Shi Tian’s Qi, most likely his Wind Qi, and those very threads were the things Shi Tian had been using to strike him repeatedly... the countless invisible attacks, the slashes, the wounds.
Everything suddenly made sense. Shi Tian had complete control over his mutated Qi, not merely good control, but perfect control, at least the best control Liyu had ever witnessed from anyone he had met or even heard about.
And the fact that Shi Tian could control these terrifying wind threads without even moving his hands... that was genuinely amazing. Liyu had to admit that this guy really was talented and deserved that credit.
But... *He’s also supremely arrogant.* Shi Tian had looked down on his opponents far too much. Normally, that wouldn’t cost him anything; against most opponents, overwhelming strength combined with his terrifying control would be enough to crush them regardless.
But this time, his opponent was Liyu, and because of that arrogance, Shi Tian was going to pay dearly.
Liyu’s Origin Eyes and Eagle Eyes worked together, his vision expanding until he could now see the countless wind threads surrounding him... above him, below him, to his left, to his right, in front, behind.
They were woven through the battlefield like a gigantic spiderweb, waiting for the slightest opportunity to slice him apart. But now Liyu could see them, and seeing them changed everything.
With Linear Blink, his natural speed, his enhanced reflexes, and the heightened perception granted by his eyes, Liyu began moving through the gaps between the threads with movements that were precise, fast, and almost impossible to follow as he slipped between one thread and another like a supreme athlete moving through an obstacle course designed to kill him.
One wrong movement meant being sliced apart, and one mistake meant another wound. But Liyu didn’t make one.
At the same time, Camouflage remained active, deliberately allowing Shi Tian’s attention to remain focused on the wrong place as he lured him. And then, Liyu closed the distance, suddenly appearing behind Shi Tian exactly as planned.
The moment Liyu appeared at his rear, the white threads moved. *Whoosh!* They came rushing toward him, fast, extremely fast, their razor-sharp edges seeming capable of slicing Liyu apart in an instant. But this time, Liyu was prepared, his eyes tracking every single thread before he made his final move.
His leg snapped against the ground. *Primal Step!* Liyu’s body twisted at an unnatural angle, his entire body seeming to bend around the incoming attacks as he dodged the countless wind threads that came slicing toward him.
One passed beside his shoulder, another swept past his waist, a third nearly brushed against his face, and Liyu avoided every single one. And in that instant, the remaining gap between him and Shi Tian disappeared.
Liyu appeared directly behind him with one leg planted firmly in front of the other, his body stabilized, his right hand bent inward, and as he inhaled deeply...*Haaaa...*
Primal Qi surged violently through his body, gathering around his fist until the energy became denser and denser. His muscles tightened, his entire arm trembling slightly beneath the immense power being compressed within it, and then Liyu used a technique... a technique he had copied only a few hours ago from his previous opponent. His eyes flashed. *My turn now.*
His fist swept forward. *BOOM!* Immense power exploded from his arm, the very air seeming to crackle beneath the force of the attack.
"Behemoth Punch!" Liyu roared.
*BAAAAAAAAAANG!*
A thunderous explosion echoed across the entire arena. The sound was enormous, like the clap of a mighty thunderstorm exploding directly above them. The air shook, the marble beneath Liyu’s feet trembled, and the surrounding atmosphere seemed to distort from the sheer force behind the attack.
Everyone watching widened their eyes. Liyu had finally counterattacked; he had finally found an opening; he had finally unleashed one of his strongest attacks directly against Shi Tian.
Yet... the instant Liyu saw the result of his attack, his entire body froze. His mind went blank. His eyes widened. The confidence that had filled them moments ago disappeared completely.
"What...?" His voice was barely audible. His body trembled. Shock slowly transformed into disbelief, and then that disbelief began morphing into something far more disturbing: horror.
Because the result of his attack was... nothing. Absolutely nothing. His Behemoth Punch... had accomplished nothing at all.
