My Cuckhold System

Chapter 343: She’s Insane

Liz bowed slightly. "Thank you."

"No," the caregiver smiled warmly. "You should thank Mr. West."

"He was very insistent that you needed someone looking after things here."

A few moments later, after the caregiver left... her fiancé chuckled. "...That man really is something."

Liz nodded absentmindedly. "...Yeah."

"He really is."

They sat together for several quiet moments before her fiancé suddenly tilted his head.

"Hm."

"What?"

He smiled. "...You seem to be glowing."

Liz blinked. "...Really?"

He nodded. "Yeah."

He studied her face carefully before adding. "It’s strange."

"For the past several months..."

"It felt like there was always this..."

He searched for the right word.

"...deadness."

"Not because you stopped smiling."

"You still smiled."

"But..."

"...your eyes never did."

Liz looked away. "...Did they really look that bad?"

"They did," he reached over and squeezed her hand. "But today..."

"It almost feels like your spark is back."

"Like..."

"...you’re breathing again."

Liz couldn’t stop herself from giggling.

The sound surprised even her. "...Well..."

"...maybe that’s a good thing."

"It definitely is."

He smiled. "I’ve missed hearing you laugh like that."

She looked toward the window and couldn’t help but think about everything that had occured last night. If only her fiancé knew that another man was the reason for her glow.

Meanwhile... at Shadow Reapers Headquarters, West sat comfortably behind his oversized desk, idly flipping through a report Aria had prepared regarding several ruins scheduled for the following week.

A knock echoed through the office.

"Come in."

The moment the door opened and West looked up, his left eyebrow raised.

"...Damn."

Standing before him was a young man with a long scar running diagonally across his permanently closed left eye.

West recognized this person but was in awe because there was a huge difference between how he looked now and the young awakener West had met seven months earlier.

He had grown considerably broader across the shoulders.

His once-boyish frame had become solid and imposing.

And the scar across his permanently closed left eye, gave him a far more intimidating appearance.

Now he gave off a much more dangerous aura as well.

West leaned back in his chair. "You’ve really changed."

Timothy folded his arms. "Well... that’s what happens when your father gives you an impossible task..."

"...and tells you to make it possible."

West laughed. "I can’t relate."

"My father isn’t a psychopath."

The corner of Timothy’s mouth twitched upward. "Lucky."

His expression returned to business afterwards. "Let’s skip the pleasantries."

"I’m here because I need your help."

He took one step forward. "It’s about Castle—"

"Castle Extingo," West finished casually.

"Yeah."

"I’ve already heard about it."

Timothy stopped mid-sentence. "...You have?"

West nodded. "Let me guess."

"You want me to join your team."

Timothy stared at him for several seconds before responding. "...How do you already know all this?"

West chuckled. "Your sister beat you to it."

Timothy closed his eyes. "...Damn it."

He sighed deeply before dropping into the chair opposite West. "I should’ve guessed."

West smirked. "You know your sister pretty well."

Timothy rubbed his forehead. "Unfortunately."

He looked up again. "Then let me save you a lot of trouble."

"You cannot seriously be considering working with Freya."

West remained silent while Timothy continued. "She’s insane."

"Manipulative."

"Unpredictable."

"And did I mention..."

"...completely insane?"

West laughed. "You did."

Timothy leaned forward. "I’m serious."

"Everything she does has an agenda."

"If sacrificing ten people gets her what she wants..."

"She’ll sacrifice twenty just to make sure."

"She’s not someone you want watching your back."

West rested his chin on his hand. "You think I don’t know that?"

Timothy frowned while West shrugged. "Your crazed sister..."

"...sorry to say..."

"...is blackmailing me."

Timothy’s eyes narrowed. "Blackmail?"

West nodded. "She informed me that Castle Extingo registration goes through the Mafia."

"If she decides Shadow Reapers isn’t welcome..."

"My people don’t enter."

"So unless I suddenly grow another entrance into Castle Extingo..."

"I’m stuck."

Timothy didn’t even look surprised.

Instead... he sighed. "...That sounds exactly like something she’d do."

West spread his hands. "So here we are."

Timothy remained quiet for a long while before eventually looking West directly in the eyes. "Give me some time."

West tilted his head. "...To do what?"

"Fix it."

West chuckled. "You’re going to convince Freya to stop threatening me?"

Timothy answered without hesitation. "No."

"I’m going to make it so she doesn’t have that leverage anymore."

West studied him carefully. "You sound confident."

Timothy slowly stood. "I know my sister."

"And I know how my family works."

"If I can’t beat her head-on..."

"I’ll find another angle."

He started walking toward the door before pausing.

Without turning around, he spoke one final time. "West."

"Hm?"

"Whatever Freya promised you..."

"...don’t trust a single word."

"Not until Castle Extingo closes behind you."

With that... he left the office causing the door to click shut.

West remained seated for several seconds before leaning back with a thoughtful sigh. "...One twin is trying to recruit me."

"The other is trying to save me from the first."

He rubbed his temples. "The Mafia really is exhausting."

Just then, Aria stepped into the office carrying another stack of reports.

She noticed Timothy disappearing down the hallway. "...Was that... the son of the mafia family?"

West nodded. "Yep."

"And?"

West let out another sigh before smiling helplessly. "I think..."

"...Castle Extingo is going to be a lot more complicated than I originally thought."

-

West looked up from the report he had been reading, changing the topic. "So?"

"Is it ready?"

Aria gave a small nod. "It is."

She placed a single document on the desk.

West opened it and the page contained little more a couple of photographs, a name, and several coded notes.

Aria pointed toward a picture. "This..."

"...is the person you have to meet when you get there."

"I’ve already contacted them."

"They’ve been informed of your arrival."

West quietly studied the photograph for a long moment before closing the folder. "They agreed?"

"They did."

"They’ll be waiting."

West leaned back in his chair. "...Good."

Aria adjusted her glasses. "Your flight is in four days."

"I’ve arranged everything."

"The tickets."

"The accommodation."

"The transportation after landing."

"And a backup plan."

West couldn’t help smiling. "I knew I could count on you."

She smiled faintly in return. "I simply made sure every variable was accounted for."

West tapped the folder thoughtfully. "This..."

"...might be the best way to get that thing done."

Aria nodded once. "If everything proceeds according to schedule."

"It should."

"But there are still many uncertainties."

West chuckled. "When have uncertainties ever stopped us?"

"They haven’t."

For a brief moment the two exchanged knowing looks and neither of them elaborated further.

Whatever they were planning... it clearly wasn’t something they intended anyone else to know.

West eventually stood. "Keep this between us."

"Of course."

"As always."

Aria collected the folder once again before leaving the office.

~ Three days later ~

West was seated inside one of the most luxurious dining rooms in Misty High City.

The residence belonged to none other than Renzhi.

Long glossy wooden tables stretched across the room beneath elegant crystal chandeliers.

Silver platters overflowed with exquisitely prepared dishes ranging from roasted meats glazed with aromatic sauces to fresh seafood, rare fruits, steaming soups and expensive wines.

The feast looked worthy of royalty.

West looked from one end of the table to the other before laughing. "...Is someone getting married?"

Lianhua couldn’t help smiling. "We simply wanted to prepare something nice."

Mei nodded enthusiastically. "You’ve been running around nonstop lately."

"You hardly rest."

"So..."

"...eat."

West looked dramatically moved. "I’m being spoiled."

"You are," Lianhua laughed softly.

"And don’t get used to it."

"I already have," West immediately reached for a piece of roasted meat.

The room filled with quiet laughter.

As everyone began eating, Mei naturally moved closer until she was sitting beside West.

Without saying anything, she reached over and gently began rubbing his upper chest through his shirt.

West looked down at her hand before raising an eyebrow. "...What are you doing?"

She smiled innocently. "Helping."

"You’ve looked tense lately."

"My mother said a relaxed body performs better."

Lianhua glanced over. "I said massage his shoulders if he looked tired."

Mei blinked. "...Chest is close enough."

West laughed. "I can’t argue with that logic."

Her fingers continued working gently, rubbing his muscles.

Lianhua got to her feet and placed another serving onto West’s plate while tilting forward low enough so her glamorous cleavage could be on display. "Eat plenty."

She winked before adding. "You’re going to need your strength for what’s coming."

West looked between the two women before spreading his hands dramatically. "So this is bribe?"

Mei immediately burst into laughter. "Maybe..."

West chuckled before responding. "I have infinite energy."

"I am powered entirely by determination..." he paused briefly before adding. "...and free food."

Lianhua couldn’t help laughing as well. "Feel free to eat as plenty as you want."

West pointed toward the enormous spread covering the table. "If I don’t eat enough today..."

"...it would honestly be disrespectful to the chef. Its only right that after eating this... I eat the chef as well..."
