My Cultivation Has a Progress Bar

Chapter 462 97: Overseeing the Big Picture

After setting up the Transfer Talisman at the foot of Moon Mountain, Wang Ping sent a letter to his master. Under the pretext of protecting his Second Senior Brother Liu Zixiu's tomb, he requested to dispatch one hundred disciples from Qianmu Temple to build a Daoist Temple at the southern end of Moon Mountain.

The day after he sent the letter, Wang Ping received a message from two of his puppets. They had provided him with a detailed map of the forest north of Ningzhou Road.

Just as Wang Ping finished studying the area, Hu Qianqian appeared discreetly one morning.

"I need to place a Transfer Talisman in the Demon Race's forest north of Ningzhou Road. It has to be done secretly." Wang Ping held nothing back from Hu Qianqian.

"Hu Xin is the most familiar with the northern forest. I'll have her handle this."

"I'll leave it to you."

Wang Ping had no objections. The Transfer Talisman in the northern forest of Ningzhou Road was just a waypoint. The one he ultimately planned to use would be placed in the southern region of Ningzhou Road, or perhaps directly in Nanlin Road. When the time came, he would have Yuan Zheng and Ruan Chunzi guard it.

As Hu Qianqian lowered her head in acceptance, Wang Ping took out the map his puppets had drawn for him and opened it, pointing to a forest at the northern end. "There's a good spot south of Bai Mountain. Take this Talisman and use it to contact my puppets. Also, this is the Array Map I designed."

Wang Ping handed the Transfer Talisman and the pre-designed Array Map to Hu Qianqian, stressing, "The fewer people who know about this, the better."

"Rest assured, Master. Although the Demon Race in the northern forest is numerous, they are in a state of utter chaos. We also have connections there through Wang Ben and Niu Qi. Covering our tracks for a month or two won't be a problem."

Hu Qianqian was very clever and understood Wang Ping's intentions.

Wang Ping smiled in satisfaction.

Seeing that Wang Ping had finished his business, Yu Lian pulled Hu Qianqian aside to whisper. They spoke for a long time before Yu Lian finally let her go.

Not long after Hu Qianqian left, a message arrived from Zi Luan. As expected, the Lord intended to hand the mess in Pingzhou Road over to Wang Ping. This was not what Wang Ping wanted, because Pingzhou Road was a true mess.

The day after Zi Luan's letter arrived, the Lord's envoy appeared before him. Accompanying the envoy were Hongyuan, Wenhai, and Qingjiang.

The moment he saw the three of them, Wang Ping understood the situation.

They would be responsible for handling matters in Pingzhou Road. Hongyuan represented Zi Luan, Wenhai was naturally on Wang Ping's side, and Qingjiang represented Xiu Yu.

"The three of you will be led by Qingjiang. You must stabilize the situation in Pingzhou Road within half a month."

Wang Ping gave Qingjiang command over Pingzhou Road.

Qingjiang was somewhat surprised, yet it also felt fitting. After accepting the order, she immediately took her leave. Wang Ping turned to Hongyuan and Wenhai, who had stayed behind, and instructed them sternly, "You two are to cooperate with Qingjiang and stabilize the situation in Pingzhou Road as quickly as possible. Understand?"

"Yes!"

With Xiu Yu's failure serving as a clear precedent, they both knew exactly what Wang Ping meant.

After carefully observing their expressions, Wang Ping waved his hand. "Since you understand, go on. Handle things efficiently. And remember—if trouble arises, don't be the one to stick your neck out."

"Yes!"

The two bowed again, then respectfully retreated a hundred feet before flying off in the direction Qingjiang had gone.

Yu Lian watched them leave and asked, "I can understand not wanting to get involved in Pingzhou Road's affairs, but why did you hand it over to Qingjiang?"

Wang Ping explained, "It wouldn't have mattered who I gave it to."

Yu Lian didn't quite understand. She tried to read the thoughts in Wang Ping's Spirit Sea but found that his mind was as calm as still water. Just as she was about to speak again, a pillar of grey light shot into the sky north of Jianglin Road. Then, a great fire covered more than half the sky, and soon after, a dense barrage of fireballs rained down upon the ground.

However, the flames in the sky were soon overwhelmed by a powerful Earth Vein Energy. This was followed by a continuous, muffled rumbling, but the noise lasted for little more than ten breaths before falling silent.

Everything returned to calm...

"It's a fight between Second Realm Cultivators. I'm going to check it out!"

Yu Lian was just about to fly off when Wang Ping grabbed her by the tail. She instinctively whipped around to bite the hand holding her, but her fangs reflexively loosened the moment they touched his palm.

"What is it?" Yu Lian asked.

Wang Ping let go of Yu Lian and smiled. "It's always better to be cautious. Think about what happened in Pingzhou Road. The fates of those Third Realm Cultivators who followed Xiu Yu, with over a thousand years of cultivation, were decided by a single word from Wan Zhi Daoist."

Hearing this, Yu Lian immediately and obediently coiled around Wang Ping's arm, then slithered onto his shoulder to lie down.

"What do you think is happening?" she asked.

"I suspect the matter of the Heaven-Chaos Pearl has been resolved."

Wang Ping's guess was correct. Liu Shuang had built a file on every Second Realm Cultivator who had been on Moon Mountain. She quickly narrowed down the suspects after ruling out two-thirds of them.

Half an Hour later, Liu Shuang arrived with Zhao Yu'er at Wang Ping's side. She presented the Heaven-Chaos Pearl to Wang Ping and explained the details of the investigation and capture.

Wang Ping had little interest in the case, as describing those people as 'ants' from his perspective would be no exaggeration. His attention was focused entirely on the Heaven-Chaos Pearl.

It looked like a rusted iron ball, but it wasn't heavy in his hand. It was cool to the touch, with a texture as soft as silk. When Wang Ping sent his Primordial Spirit Consciousness into it, he 'saw' a seemingly endless, vast space, but it was deathly silent inside.

Liu Shuang said, "When it's not activated, it's just like an ordinary pearl, aside from its incredibly vast interior space. However, nothing can be stored inside it, because anything placed within is torn apart by an unobservable force."

Wang Ping nodded lightly, then used his Primordial Spirit to observe its particle structure.

This was even more outrageous. It caused his Primordial Spirit Consciousness to freeze for a moment, as the number of particles was so immense that his Primordial Spirit couldn't even contain them all.

Withdrawing his Primordial Spirit, Wang Ping examined the exterior of the Heaven-Chaos Pearl for a while longer, but still couldn't see anything special about it.

"It looks like this thing can't be destroyed!" Yu Lian said. This was the conclusion she reached after sensing Wang Ping's thoughts and carefully observing the Heaven-Chaos Pearl herself.

Wang Ping also felt it was a pity. This thing specifically targeted Wood Spirit Cultivators, and while the cost to activate it was enormous, it wasn't difficult for a determined person to do so. Moreover, it only required a Second Realm Cultivator.

Therefore, his first thought was to destroy it, but with his current strength, destroying the Heaven-Chaos Pearl was something of a pipe dream.

"I will hold onto this for now. If I find a way to destroy it, I will do so at the first opportunity."

Wang Ping put away the Heaven-Chaos Pearl and looked at Liu Shuang and Zhao Yu'er, instructing, "Next, the army will plan to cross the river. I will issue the order in the coming days, commanding you two to temporarily station yourselves at Jianglin Road. You are dismissed; go and prepare."

"Yes!"

Liu Shuang acknowledged the order and left, taking with her Zhao Yu'er, who clearly had more to say.

Yu Lian reminded him, "Yu'Er seems to be using the other half of her soul to devour other people's Spirit Veins, yet her soul is able to maintain a very strange balance."

Wang Ping replied, "I've placed a Spirit Stabilizing Talisman on her. If she makes any unusual moves, my Talisman will seal her instantly."

As he spoke, he looked up at the sky. A Puppet Bird descended and hovered beside him.

It was a letter from Guangxuan. He would be arriving at Moon Mountain tomorrow.
