My Cultivation Has a Progress Bar

Chapter 507 - 142: Return to Qianmu Temple

「Moon Mountain.」

The new Daoist Temple established here by Qianmu Temple was located on a sun-drenched southern peak. Its main gate was set halfway up the mountain, a measure to prevent mortals from disturbing the Cultivators.

However, it wasn’t completely cut off from the secular world. Mortals could follow a small path, a journey of about a day on foot, to reach the main gate and enter the Daoist Temple. Most of them could only see the front hall, which was where the outer sect disciples trained. To reach the Inner Sect, one had to continue further up the mountain.

But for now, the Daoist Temple had very few Inner Sect Disciples. The Inner Sect’s buildings consisted of just a few disciples’ courtyards and training rooms. The courtyard with the richest Spiritual Qi was a Dao Field deep in the mountain forest. It was surrounded almost entirely by Spirit Wood and had an Inner Eight Trigrams Spirit Gathering Array.

This was the temporary Dao Field that Liu Shuang and Zuo Xuan had built for themselves. After the battle at True Yang Mountain, they had followed Wang Ping’s instructions to break away from the Chu Country’s army and retreat to Moon Mountain to await news.

During this time, they had obeyed Wang Ping’s orders and not taken a single step outside the Daoist Temple. When the strange phenomenon appeared over Shangjing City, the two of them merely stood at the highest point of the temple, gazing into the distance.

After that terrifying Wood Spirit Qi suddenly vanished, Liu Shuang said softly, "According to news that came yesterday, more than two hundred Second Realm Cultivators registered with the Daoist Palace have gone missing in the Shangjing City area. Many of them were sect leaders from southern sects. The recent documents from the Daoist Palace are mostly about disputes between sects. The Court can barely contain the conflicts the various sects are causing in Shangjing City."

Zuo Xuan smoothed the hair behind her ear, suppressing the fear that had arisen from observing the direction of Shangjing City. She replied, "Don’t worry. No matter how chaotic it gets, it won’t affect our Qianmu Temple."

Liu Shuang nodded and didn’t continue the conversation. She looked toward Shangjing City, her heart filled with deep worry. She was anxious about whether her master was safe.

CRASH!

The Spirit Grass drying in the courtyard had been knocked over. It was Zuo Xuan’s Calico Cat, which was being chased by Liu Shuang’s Spiritual Dog. As the two little ones were roughhousing, they started running toward the southern corner of the yard but were promptly scolded by Zuo Xuan and Liu Shuang. Over there was the fine tea they had personally picked—a gift Liu Shuang had prepared for her master.

The two little creatures stopped, looking aggrieved. The Calico Cat leaped onto Zuo Xuan’s shoulder and pawed at her face. The Spiritual Dog, with its tail between its legs, trotted to the courtyard entrance. It had been about to run out and frolic for a while but suddenly began barking ferociously at the sky.

Zuo Xuan and Liu Shuang also looked up at the sky at that moment.

An incredulous look appeared on Liu Shuang’s face. She saw her master’s Identity Projection Token, and the aura descending from the sky was also his.

"Master?"

"It has to be!"

In the time it took for this quick exchange, Liu Shuang transformed into a streak of light and ascended into the air. Zuo Xuan followed closely behind, with the two Spirit Pets happily scurrying after them.

Just as the two women rose into the sky, a brilliant stream of light from an Array also shot up from another direction. It was Ganxing, who had been stationed here all along.

The moment Wang Ping sensed Liu Shuang’s aura, he revealed himself and landed beside her. He had been about to use another Transfer Talisman to return directly to Ningzhou Road, but upon sensing Liu Shuang’s presence, he had materialized specifically to meet her.

As he landed, Yu Lian flicked her tongue at the Calico Cat, then raised her head at the Spiritual Dog to assert her dominance. This time, the Calico Cat didn’t act fierce toward her, because she now had the cultivation of the Third Realm.

"Master!"

The joy on Liu Shuang’s face was irrepressible.

Zuo Xuan, however, cupped her fist and said, "Fellow Daoist, was your journey a smooth one?"

Wang Ping nodded to them both.

Then, he looked toward Ganxing, who had flown over and landed more than ten zhang away. The latter cupped his fist and said, "Are you well, Fellow Daoist?"

"Everything is fine!"

After replying, Wang Ping quickly added, "This is no place to talk. Let’s return to Nanlin Road first!" His vigilance had not yet slackened.

With that, he extended his left hand and sent two Blessing Talismans into Zuo Xuan and Liu Shuang’s bodies. Then, his qi connected with their souls as he summoned the Pocket World Mirror and activated the Transfer Talisman within it.

As Wang Ping vanished with Liu Shuang and Zuo Xuan, he added, "Fellow Daoist, you can find me at Qianmu Temple!"

Ganxing was stunned for a moment, then decisively transformed into a streak of light and flew south.

The events in Shangjing City had left Wang Ping feeling very insecure. He hated the feeling of placing his fate in someone else’s hands.

Wang Ping’s transfer to Ningzhou Road didn’t cause much of a stir. As his vision cleared, he saw a bamboo house. The aura of the person guarding it brought a smile to Wang Ping’s face, but Yu Lian slithered out of his sleeve, baring her fangs.

It was Yuan Zheng Taoist!

When the three of them appeared, Yuan Zheng Taoist, who was meditating outside, immediately woke up. He then turned into a streak of light and entered the house. Seeing Wang Ping, he asked, "Did everything go smoothly?"

"It didn’t go as planned. I’m not sure what the situation is right now. We’ll talk after we get back!"

"Very well!" Yuan Zheng Taoist stepped aside at the door, inviting them in. "I’ve already prepared escape routes, both by water and by land. They’re all my own channels."

Wang Ping nodded and looked at Zuo Xuan and Liu Shuang, instructing, "Shuang’Er, you still have your duties for the Mozhou Road Daoist Palace, right? Go straight back to Mozhou Road and wait for my message on when to return. Fellow Daoist Zuo Xuan, you should also leave first. Use your Daoist Palace identity to fly directly back to Jinhuai Prefecture."

"Yes!"

Zuo Xuan didn’t hesitate. After replying, she gently stroked the Calico Cat on her shoulder, then flew off at a low altitude to conceal her identity.

Liu Shuang, however, hesitated for half a beat before cupping her fist in a salute. "Yes, Master." With that, she ascended with her Spiritual Dog, skimming over the tops of the nearby bamboo forest to catch up with Zuo Xuan, who was not far ahead.

As Yuan Zheng Taoist invited Wang Ping to walk outside the small courtyard, he said, "Guangxuan returned to Sanhe Prefecture two months ago. He’s in charge of reestablishing the secret codes for our gatherings. There are also some clandestine connections that need to be severed. I’ve had people searching everywhere for Yue Ziyu’s whereabouts, trying to eliminate this hidden threat as soon as possible."

For Yuan Zheng Taoist, this had been the most important task he had undertaken in the past few months.

Wang Ping replied casually, "There’s no rush on that matter for now."

He walked out of the courtyard but didn’t continue on. He looked back at the small yard and added, "We don’t need to go through all that trouble to get back. I’ve also set up a Transfer Array inside Qianmu Temple. We’ll just transfer directly back there."

As he spoke, he reached out and flicked a finger toward the small courtyard. A Harvest Talisman shot into it, and in the next instant, a dense bamboo forest erupted from the ground, swallowing the original yard and destroying the transfer array within.

As the bamboo forest grew, Wang Ping sent a Blessing Talisman into Yuan Zheng Taoist to connect to his soul’s qi. Then, he brought out the Pocket World Mirror and activated the Transfer Array inside.

His vision blurred and shifted again. This time, Wang Ping appeared directly in the Mountain Peak Dojo of Qianmu Temple. After three consecutive long-distance transfers, Wang Ping’s Primordial Spirit Consciousness felt a wave of drowsiness, as if most of his energy had been drained.

"Fellow Daoist, please do me a favor and inform my master. I’m going into seclusion to rest for a while!"

Wang Ping needed to first examine the memories left to him by Xiao Shan Lord.

Yuan Zheng Taoist nodded. He could sense a feeling of unease in Wang Ping. That, combined with the fact that Wang Ping had deliberately sent his disciple away, made him think something significant had happened. Therefore, upon hearing Wang Ping’s request, he immediately flew toward the Dao Field of Mountain Yucheng Taoist.
