Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Unexpected Importance
Zhao Hui brought the Ganglong International contract and the revision suggestions from the Yino Group’s legal department to a meeting he had scheduled with the manager of Ganglong International’s third floor.
This was because Yi Rui was slated to be located on the third floor of Ganglong International, which fell under this manager’s jurisdiction.
He had last seen this manager in Huang Guangyuan’s office. At the time, Zhao Hui, Fang Qiang, and Liu Haoran were sitting together on the guest sofa.
Meanwhile, the manager had been in a chair behind them, taking notes.
Twenty minutes had passed since the scheduled meeting time. Zhao Hui glanced at his watch but didn’t send a message to rush him.
He ordered two cups of coffee and sat quietly, savoring the rich aroma of his cappuccino.
’This kind of lifestyle... he’d never even dared to dream of it before.’ ’Working in a spacious, bright office, coming and going from high-end buildings.’
’Discussing business with clients over tea... these were all scenes he had only ever seen in TV dramas.’
’And now, that dream was his reality.’
He was now earning a substantial monthly income, and the living conditions for his whole family had improved in ways that were plain to see.
Chen Xiao had bought the apartment next door for him. It was supposedly for his grandmother, but the property deed was in his name.
He knew that Chen Xiao and his sister probably wouldn’t think twice about a property like this, but to give away an apartment worth millions just like that... it was an incredible display of power.
’In a couple of days, he was also going to pick up a new company van, with a 500,000 yuan budget. That was God knows how many times more luxurious than Liu Haoran’s car!’
’It would be perfect for taking the whole family out—comfortable and safe.’
All of this was thanks to Chen Xiao, the man who had changed his entire family’s fate. He was grateful from the bottom of his heart. As he’d said before, he would give his life for Chen Xiao.
The third-floor manager finally sauntered in, offered some phony pleasantries, then flopped into his seat and asked Zhao Hui what this was about.
"It’s about the partnership agreement. Our group’s legal department reviewed it and believes a few clauses need to be revised. If the main contract can’t be altered, we could sign a supplemental agreement."
The third-floor manager took the list of proposed revisions from Zhao Hui, glanced at it, and tossed it on the table. "We’ve never had a brand ask us to change the agreement!"
’That was a sweeping statement,’ Zhao Hui thought. ’The luxury brands on the first floor didn’t change Ganglong’s agreement because they used their own contracts, and even then, there weren’t many clauses Ganglong could negotiate!’
’That’s just how business is: big stores bully their tenants, and big tenants bully their landlords.’
Zhao Hui sensed the man’s disdain. He kept his emotions in check and asked, "Could you see if you can make a case for it?"
"I really don’t get you people. It’s a huge deal that a brand like yours even got into Ganglong. Why would you think you could change the terms of the contract? Are you delusional?"
"Could you perhaps report this to Mr. Huang?" Zhao Hui suggested.
The third-floor manager was extremely unhappy. He rarely had any direct contact with Huang Guangyuan. Going to the big boss over a tenant’s request? Wasn’t that just asking for trouble? He’d get an earful, and what’s more, it would damage his image in front of his superior.
"For every little damn thing, you want to go to Mr. Huang? Do you think he sits around with nothing to do all day? There are company owners lined up, waiting for a meeting with him that they’ll never get!"
"I don’t even have to look far for an example. Take the spot you’re getting. It used to belong to Four Seasons Clothing. They’re a powerful enough company, right? Well, President Xia tried to schedule a meeting with Mr. Huang. And? He still hasn’t managed to see him."
But Zhao Hui wasn’t one to back down easily. If he were, he wouldn’t have been so persistent about the matter with Wang Hao’s family. When he had a goal, he exhausted every possible option.
"Then I’ll just contact Mr. Huang directly, is that alright?"
Heh! The floor manager sneered. ’Who do you think you are? You think you’re hot stuff just because you have Mr. Huang’s WeChat?’
’Don’t you get it? Sometimes the higher-ups just pretend to be approachable.’
He said with a scoff, "Go ahead and try. Who knows, maybe he’ll agree to see you!"
After that, he ignored Zhao Hui completely. He thought Zhao Hui must be a bit dim, with no understanding of basic business protocol.
So, Zhao Hui sent a message to Huang Guangyuan. He told him he was at Ganglong International and asked if he had a moment for him to come up and pay a visit.
"You’re actually sending it? Let me tell you, Mr. Huang is in a meeting with the engineering department right now. Even if he were free, he wouldn’t see you!"
The words were barely out of his mouth when Zhao Hui’s phone rang.
"Mr. Huang, hello! Yes, yes, I’m at Ganglong right now... Okay, I’ll be right up!"
The floor manager stared at him, stunned and suspicious. ’Mr. Huang? Which Mr. Huang?!’
Zhao Hui hung up and said to the floor manager, "Mr. Huang said for me to come to his office now. I’ll have to trouble you to escort me, since I can’t get into the office area without an access card."
The floor manager took a gulp of coffee but forgot to swallow, and the liquid trickled down the corner of his mouth.
’Mr. Huang is actually going to see him.’
He didn’t dare hesitate, as Zhao Hui had mentioned on the phone with Huang Guangyuan that the manager would be escorting him up.
"P-President Zhao, let’s head up to see Mr. Huang right now!"
A complete one-eighty. On the way to the office area, the floor manager’s initial arrogance had vanished. He was so polite to Zhao Hui you’d think they were brothers.
Huang Guangyuan put down the phone, his eyes fixed on the name "Zhao Hui" in his contacts. He recalled what Liu Haoran had quietly told him the other day: "President Chen calls him Brother Hui."
’Brother Hui.’ Huang Guangyuan’s expression grew profound as he seemed to ponder something.
KNOCK KNOCK. There were a few knocks on the door.
"Come in!" Huang Guangyuan glanced at the time. ’That should be Zhao Hui.’
Sure enough, the floor manager pushed the door open and ushered Zhao Hui inside.
"Hello, Mr. Huang." Zhao Hui’s tone was one of immense respect.
It was only proper, given Huang Guangyuan’s age, experience, and position.
To the floor manager’s astonishment, Huang Guangyuan walked out from behind his executive desk and strode forward to shake Zhao Hui’s hand.
"President Zhao, please, have a seat."
Zhao Hui sat in a guest chair while the floor manager scurried to pour tea.
"Use my personal stash," Huang Guangyuan instructed.
’The company had tea specifically for guests, but it was all generic stuff. Mr. Huang’s personal tea, on the other hand, was sure to be incredibly expensive.’
’The floor manager instantly understood. Huang Guangyuan wasn’t just meeting with Zhao Hui; he was treating him as an honored guest.’
"So, President Zhao, what can I do for you today?"
Zhao Hui felt a little embarrassed by how polite Huang Guangyuan was being. He knew, of course, that he was merely riding on Chen Xiao’s coattails—a fox borrowing the tiger’s prestige.
"It’s just a small matter. Regarding the partnership agreement for Yi Rui, our group’s legal department proposed a few revisions. I wanted to discuss whether we might be able to amend the contract or sign a supplemental agreement."
As he spoke, Zhao Hui handed Huang Guangyuan a pre-printed document outlining the clauses they wished to change.
What Zhao Hui didn’t know was that this was the first time Huang Guangyuan had ever personally handled a negotiation over contract clauses. If he had to deal with this kind of thing regularly, he’d work himself to death.
The floor manager thought Zhao Hui’s move was incredibly presumptuous, but Huang Guangyuan’s next action made his jaw drop.
He not only read it, but read it carefully. Finally, he smiled and said, "This is simple. We’ll do it your way."
The way the floor manager looked at Zhao Hui changed completely. Even though he knew Zhao Hui was just an employee of the Yino Company, in his mind, he had already elevated him to a status far higher than that of a typical regional brand director.
