Chapter 167 - 157: Mistaken for a Love Rival

Chapter 167: Chapter 157: Mistaken for a Love Rival

When Feng Feifei entered the private room and saw the atmosphere, she blushed, a shy, girlish expression appearing on her face. ’Why does having dinner with Chen Xiao today feel so much like a date?’

The feeling was novel. Before joining Dr. Feng’s Robot, she had been completely absorbed in her studies, giving no thought to her personal life. That was why so many talented young men had pursued her over the years, only to be met with failure.

After joining Dr. Feng’s Robot, she threw herself into her work, leaving no time for anything else. As a result, she had grown up without ever experiencing what a date felt like.

The atmosphere of the private room today made her suddenly feel a little nervous, yet also a bit thrilled.

’Oh!’ she thought, suddenly remembering she had brought a bottle of red wine and left it in her car. She hurried out to retrieve it.

On her way, she sent a message to Chen Xiao, telling him she had arrived and giving him the private room number.

She retrieved the wine from her car and had only taken a few steps when she suddenly heard someone calling out, "Feifei... Feifei!"

Feng Feifei’s delicate brows furrowed slightly as she looked toward the voice.

"Zhang Jun?"

A handsome young man stepped out of a Range Rover parked next to her car. He was dressed head to toe in Armani, looking very dapper and every bit the successful professional.

"It really is you, Feifei! We must be fated to meet like this!"

Feng Feifei gave a faint smile. ’His use of the word "fated" probably isn’t so innocent.’

Zhang Jun had been her classmate when she was studying abroad in Germany, and he was one of her many suitors at the time. He had some class, though; after she rejected him a few times, he realized he didn’t stand a chance and didn’t pester her endlessly.

She’d later heard that he had returned to the country and was doing quite well for himself. She remembered his family was involved in the water conservancy sector and had extensive connections.

"Are you here to eat too?"

After asking, Zhang Jun let out a self-deprecating laugh. "Listen to me. This is the only restaurant around. What else would you be here for?"

Feng Feifei returned a polite smile and said, "Yes, I’m having dinner with a colleague today."

"Having dinner with a colleague?" Zhang Jun asked, a hint of disbelief in his voice. "It’s not a male colleague, is it?"

Feng Feifei casually tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Yes, a male colleague."

Zhang Jun was stunned for a moment. It took him a while to reply, "Who’s the lucky guy who managed to win your favor?"

Feng Feifei thought about Chen Xiao’s contributions to the company and murmured, "I’d say I’m the lucky one."

Zhang Jun’s expression immediately soured. The goddess he had once pursued, the one he could never forget, was saying that *she* was the lucky one for getting to have dinner with another man.

It wasn’t just jealousy; he felt like he’d lost face. An urge to compete, to show off, began to bubble up inside him. After all, he wasn’t the man he used to be. The Range Rover, worth nearly two million, was proof enough that he was doing very well for himself these days.

The two of them entered the restaurant as they talked. "Well, this is me," Feng Feifei said.

Her meaning was clear: it was time for them to part ways.

Zhang Jun just smiled and said, "It’s been a long time. You wouldn’t mind if I came in to chat for a little while, would you?"

Feng Feifei was a little hesitant, but considering he was an old classmate and Chen Xiao hadn’t arrived yet, she invited him into the private room.

The moment Zhang Jun walked in, he could tell the room was set for two. ’This place is perfect for a date,’ he thought, his jealousy growing even stronger.

He tried to make small talk. "I hear you took over the family business after coming back to the country. It’s going well?"

This was just a pleasantry; he had no idea how Feng Feifei was actually doing, as they hadn’t kept in touch.

Feng Feifei replied, "It’s just so-so. My father has always worked in the AI field, but the company has never been very large-scale."

Zhang Jun said, "These things take time. In this line of work, connections are crucial. Connections lead to orders, and orders are the lifeblood of a business!"

Feng Feifei couldn’t agree more. After all, wasn’t the company’s health only now improving and growing stronger thanks to the lifeblood Chen Xiao was providing?

"Tonight, I’ve invited a few major players from the industry. There should be some business opportunities between you all. How about I make some introductions for you later?"

Feng Feifei didn’t want to go, but as the General Manager, she knew she had to. From a business perspective, she had to attend events like this that could help the company, whether she liked it or not.

She nodded in agreement. Just then, someone entered the room.

Feng Feifei looked up. It was Chen Xiao!

"Sorry about that, there was a bit of traffic!"

Chen Xiao apologized with a grin from the doorway. Driving the Brabus G900 was awesome, but the thing was just too big. It wasn’t as nimble as a Mercedes-Benz CLS, which put it at a disadvantage in a traffic-clogged city where it couldn’t really open up.

The car was incredibly flashy; rumor had it that it was the only one in all of Han River. He had no idea how Xiangjun had managed to get her hands on it.

Zhao Xiangjun wasn’t the type to be long-winded. She hadn’t said a single word to Chen Xiao about the process of buying the car; she didn’t feel there was anything to say.

The whole point of buying a car was to get the car. Once that objective was met, what else was there to talk about?

As he stepped into the main part of the room, he realized there was someone else there. Startled for a second, Chen Xiao offered a polite greeting.

Zhang Jun gave a haughty nod, then asked Feng Feifei, "This is your colleague?"

Feng Feifei stood up to make the introductions. "Yes. This is Chen Xiao. And this is my former classmate, Zhang Jun."

Only then did Zhang Jun get to his feet. He extended a hand and said, "Zhang Jun. Vice President of Nantong Group."

’Nantong?’ Chen Xiao suddenly recalled Bai Lu mentioning that this company was their fiercest competitor when she was negotiating the water conservancy project.

Their annual revenue was around 15 billion, making them a corporate behemoth. Their business operations spanned the entire country, and Bai Lu had also mentioned that some of their top executives were well-connected insiders in the field.

"Chen Xiao. Dr. Feng’s Robot, sales department."

"The sales department?"

Zhang Jun glanced at Chen Xiao in surprise, then turned to look at Feng Feifei. Finally, he let out a sneer. "Sales Director, are you? Heh."

As the vice president of a corporate group with an annual revenue in the tens of billions, he naturally looked down on a mere sales director from some small company. ’This is the kind of guy dating my goddess?’

’What does he have, other than being a little handsome?’

"You’ve misunderstood. I’m just a salesman, not the director."

’Who the hell wants to be a director? Isn’t being a salesman awesome? Living off a daily basic stipend is such a cushy life.’
