My Desire System: The More They Want Me, The Stronger I Get
Chapter 102: Freight Ambush OpensSirens screamed along the elevated northern highway as thick black smoke billowed into the morning mist.
Two six-wheeled armored haulers lay overturned near the concrete off-ramp, their reinforced security crates spilled across the asphalt.
"Redline, where is the lead transport van?" Leo asked through his comm headset as he vaulted onto the highway guardrail.
"I am on it, Leo, give me three seconds," Redline’s voice crackled through the channel over a deafening sonic boom.
A flash of crimson lightning tore across the highway, scattering two hundred stranded commuters safely behind the concrete divider in three seconds flat.
Redline skidded to a halt on the far side of the overpass, his boots smoking as he realized his momentum had carried him three hundred yards past the target.
"Overcooked the corner," Redline groaned into his comms, spinning on his heel to sprint back toward the robbery.
"These road barriers have terrible traction in the rain, and my gyros are calibrated for dry pavement."
"The van just slipped down the service ramp beneath the viaduct," Leo warned, dropping off the overpass into the shadows below.
"I am circling back around the cloverleaf," Redline called back, yelling, "Do not let them reach the industrial district."
Leo landed lightly on the wet pavement beneath the concrete pillars, drawing the Null Razor in a low reverse grip.
Kage manifested at his side, dissolving out of the shadows with deliberate, low strides beneath the dripping viaduct.
"Just scent tracking today, Kage," Leo whispered, resting a gentle hand between the panther’s ears.
"Luna gave strict orders: no combat lunges and no high-speed pursuits until that flank tear heals completely."
Kage let out a soft, understanding rumble, sniffing a trail of leaking synthetic hydraulic fluid that led toward a deserted rail spur.
’The panther knows his limits, and his scent tracking is sharper than any corporate scanner.’
"Good boy, Kage," Leo whispered, watching the panther’s ears twitch toward the dripping shadows of the warehouse.
"Can you smell where they stacked the trauma crates?"
Kage let out a low, vibrating chuff in the back of his throat, nodding toward a heavy reinforced fire door near the freight elevator.
’He is moving with caution, favoring his right leg just like Luna told him to.’
"Stay behind the crates, partner, let me handle the breach," Leo murmured, patting the beast’s sleek shoulder before stepping into the shadows.
The tracks wound through three abandoned textile warehouses, terminating at a concealed subterranean freight elevator.
"Leo, I have eyes on their elevator bay," Leo whispered into the squad channel.
"Six armed operatives unloading medical crates onto a hydraulic freight lift."
"Are they wearing Association insignia?" Bekka asked over the precinct link from her patrol cruiser.
"Negative, they are in unmarked grey exo-suits, but the squad leader just pulled off his balaclava," Leo reported.
The man had the distinctive silver lapel insignia of Apex Security Services pinned beneath his collar.
"Load the whole batch into the secondary freight lift," the leader barked into an encrypted tactical headset.
"The District 6 serum exchange is paying triple price for unadulterated hospital-grade regeneration bases."
"Director Gruber’s freeze took out their normal supply chain, so every private clinic in the upper wards is bidding on this shipment."
"The socialites in District 6 will pay fifty thousand credits a dose if it keeps their skin glowing after a party."
’They are stealing medicine meant for dying dockers to refine beauty serums for wealthy socialites.’
Leo stepped out from behind the rusty container, the silver edge of the Null Razor humming with cold, lethal precision.

"Who is that?" one of the guards yelled, bringing his assault carbine up toward the shadows.
"Step away from the crates," Leo said, his voice flat and dangerous in the quiet warehouse.
"Shoot him," the squad leader roared, raising his weapon.
Before the trigger could depress, Leo closed the distance in a single phase-step, shattering the weapon’s receiver with a lightning strike.
Two couriers lunged with energized shock batons, their exo-suits whining as they attempted to flank him from both sides.
"Too slow," Leo muttered, pivoting smoothly and catching both electrified strikes against the reinforced flat of his dark blade.
With a focused burst of Umbral Kinetics Stage 3, he unleashed a localized gravitational pulse that pinned all six operatives against the steel wall.
"What kind of magic is this?" the squad leader choked out, his boots dangling two inches above the ground in the shadow web.
"It is not magic, it is gravity," Leo answered, catching the falling crate of antibiotics before it touched the floor.
Redline skidded into the warehouse doorway, breathing heavily as he leaned against the doorframe.
"Okay, I took the long scenic route around District 8, but I see you handled the heavy lifting."
"Nice job catching the crates before they hit the lift."
Leo walked over to the pinned leader, pulling an encrypted dispatch datapad from the man’s tactical vest.
"Where is the refinery located?" Leo demanded, holding the screen before the man’s eyes.
"I am not telling you a damn thing, Ghost," the leader spat, struggling against the gravitational pressure.
"He does not need to tell you," Sierra’s voice purred through the radio link as she remotely accessed the datapad’s memory.
"The invoice shows recurring delivery routes terminating at the District Six Bio-Refinery beneath the Velvet Spire."
"The client list includes three celebrity hero agencies and two Association council members."

Kage trotted up and sat beside the captured crates, letting out a satisfied huff as he nudged Leo’s leg with his head.
"Good work, partner," Leo said softly, recalling the beast into contracted rest before physical fatigue could set in.
A few minutes later, the blue emergency strobes of a precinct transport van cut through the dark warehouse alleyway.
Bekka stepped through the open freight doors, accompanied by three trusted harbor precinct officers with heavy stun restraints.
"Apex tactical uniforms and modified sub-machine guns," Bekka said, whistling softly as her officers cuffed the operatives.
"Director Gruber’s private security division is getting sloppy in their panic."
She walked over to the crates of trauma medicine, running a scanner over the security seals with a satisfied nod.
"All twenty crates are completely intact."
"Richter has forty patients waiting for these antibiotics, and this shipment will keep our clinic running for three weeks."
Luna’s voice crackled through Bekka’s tactical collar, coming in clear from the clinic communications desk.
"I am monitoring Leo’s biometric signature on my terminal, Bekka."
"His core ether output just expanded by five percent, and his spatial perception has sharpened."
"Make sure he actually walks back to the clinic instead of phase-stepping across three neighborhoods."
Leo smiled faintly, leaning against the stack of shipping containers as he rested the Null Razor in its sheath.
"I hear you, doctor, and I am taking the passenger seat in Bekka’s cruiser."
"Good," Luna replied with soft warmth in her tone, adding, "Dinner is waiting on the stove."
Bekka turned back to Leo, her amber eyes reflecting the rain as she looked down at the encrypted datapad from District 6.
"If the District 6 serum exchange is harvesting tissue from unregistered clinics, the corruption goes far beyond Gruber."
"Tomorrow morning, we take the fight into the inner wards."
