My Farming Domain Is Broken

Chapter 1: Ch 1. Agriculture Domain

"41, 42, 43, 44..."

"Stop it, bro. We’re going to enter the portal in a few minutes."

"Just give me a moment."

"Alright..."

His concern was valid; a massive white portal stood before them while thousands of students were waiting for their turn to enter.

"...45..."

"To go in completely exhausted, ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME?!"

The boy’s face twisted with frustration as he shouted at his friend, who was still doing push-ups without sparing him a glance.

Almost every nearby student turned to look at the bulky 18-year-old exercising on the ground and his increasingly grumpy friend. The sight lightened the mood a lot, drawing a few chuckles from the crowd.

"...58."

"Dude..."

"...59."

"I’m serious."

"60..."

Carlos finished the last push-up and finally stood up.

"Don’t worry, I didn’t even do that many," the muscular boy said with a grin. "Besides, it’s not like we have anything better to do while waiting."

His friend stared at him, feeling speechless before shifting his gaze toward the towering power just a few meters from them.

"You won’t forget our promise, right?" the boy asked quietly, making Carlos, the muscular one, grin.

"Don’t worry; if I end up becoming something like a Resource Lord or a Production Lord, I will find you as soon as I can. We’ll help each other."

Then he sighed.

"But that goes for you too, bro."

He held his hand forward in a fist, and the other boy smiled before bumping it once.

"Don’t worry. If I become a lord like that, I will definitely come looking for you. I am not dumb." He paused before adding, "But it’s different with you."

"What do you mean?"

Before Carlos could ask anything else, the queue they were in started moving, instinctively making them turn forward and follow the crowd.

For 10 seconds, they kept walking until Carlos spotted their class’s homeroom professor standing in the front.

The professor seemed to be imparting some things to a group of five students, concern evident on his tired face before sending them into the portal.

Not everyone walked in on their own. Some students had to be dragged forward by soldiers in full armor and armed with weapons. Obviously the soldiers couldn’t enter the portal themselves, so they simply pushed the unwilling students inside.

The sight made Carlos’s blood boil.

But there was nothing he could do.

If he tried anything right now, he’d simply be the first person to be thrown inside the portal.

No matter how hard he had trained or how muscular he was, he stood no chance against soldiers who were already Lords and were already several levels stronger than him.

In a few minutes, Carlos’s group reached the front of the line.

The professor looked utterly exhausted.

Carlos understood why.

Not all of these students would return alive from the World of the Lords.

"Alright, you 5 will be the next to leave," the professor began. "Remember to support each other during the Beginner Period. If you’re not confident in your troops, then always go for the Normal difficulty. And remember one thing—no one will be there to see your bravery. Only if you make it back to us will we know how well you did."

The professor’s voice carried genuine concern, but it also sounded like a speech he had repeated countless times over the past several hours.

The professor’s gaze fell on the boy standing beside Carlos, who responded with a small smile.

The professor nodded before looking at the others one by one.

Finally, his eyes settled on Carlos, and they shone ever so slightly.

"Don’t let your hard work make you overconfident, Carlos. You are a talented kid, and if you receive a strong initial summon, you could have an incredibly bright future ahead. I have that much confidence in you."

The other four students simply glanced at Carlos.

None of them felt bad for not getting any praises. Everyone knew how hard Carlos had trained over the years.

"So there won’t be any use of throwing your life away. Always remember your family and remember that you have to make it back to them, no matter what."

Carlos nodded.

Bringing up the family card might have sounded unreasonable, but nothing the professor said was wrong.

"Good luck, kids. May I see you all again in 30 days..." The professor spoke with a forced smile and tried to be confident, but he was already tired.

"Don’t worry, Professor," Carlos replied with a grin that showed not a hint of fear. He then patted each of his teammates on the back. "We’ll all be coming home."

With that, they all walked forward.

As Carlos’s gaze met the soldiers guarding the portal, his chest tightened and his blood began to boil.

But the boy beside him gave him a firm push toward the portal.

Taking one last look at the glowing portal, then at the other boy, Carlos drew in a deep breath before fearlessly stepping into the white portal.

"UGH!"

The blinding light stung his eyes, but the next second, Carlos found himself standing on a small plot of land.

[WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF LORDS!]

[WOULD YOU LIKE TO USE YOUR ORIGINAL NAME OR CHANGE IT?]

Carlos barely spared the land a glance, as if he already knew what to expect. Instead, his attention remained fixed on the blue screen floating before him.

A grin crept over his face, and he opened his mouth to speak.

"Carlos Goldwin."

"..."

The grin slowly vanished from Carlos’s face, and he placed a hand on his forehead before letting out a dry chuckle.

"Well... this turned out great."
