The Blue Water Slime Barracks would give them one combat slime every day. They were not powerful troops, but Water Shot would finally give his territory a ranged defense.
But if he used almost everything now, he would have nothing left for the Irrigation Channel, a new weapon, or an emergency.
Carlos opened the territory panel.
--
Territory Level: 1
Residents: 2/10
Buildings: 2
Special Structures: 1
Farm Plots: 2
Territory Experience: 10/100
--
Two residents.
One Farmer and one Sprite.
To his knowledge, neither could properly fight.
Carlos looked at the permanent conquest portal.
He was the only protection this territory had.
A new notification appeared before he could decide what to build.
[BEGINNER PERIOD SUPPORT EVENT]
[Resource Hunt will begin in 6 hours]
[All new Lords may participate]
[Participants will be transported to an event resource field for 10 minutes]
[Basic gathering equipment will be provided upon entering]
[Event equipment cannot be removed from the resource field]
[All resources personally gathered within the time limit may be kept]
[Troops and territory residents can participate]
[There is no participation cost and no death penalty]
Carlos read through the announcement twice.
The event was clearly meant to help Lords who had failed their first conquest or received too few starting resources.
Ten minutes was not long.
For an ordinary person, it might only be enough to cut a little wood or break a few stones.
Carlos looked down at his hands.
Then a grin slowly appeared on his face.
The system had just given him permission to gather as much as his body could handle.
And he did not have to do it alone.
Carlos read the announcement one more time.
[Troops and territory residents can participate]
His eyes moved toward Rowan.
The Farmer was still tending to the newly planted wheat. Gathering resources was one of his abilities, even if it was only Level 1.
Then Carlos looked at Blue.
The Sprite was floating on its back inside the Mana Spring without a care in the world.
"Blue."
The small head rose from the water.
"Can you gather resources?"
"Bloo."
That did not answer anything.
Carlos opened Blue’s profile.
--
Blue
Mana Water Sprite
Level 1
Abilities: Water Control (Level 1), Mana Sense (Level 1)
Favorability: 20/100
--
There was nothing about gathering.
Blue could still come with them. Even if the Sprite only carried a few small things, every resource would help.
Carlos opened his inventory and looked at the Blue Water Slime Barracks again.
It would consume almost everything he had.
But the Resource Hunt would give him a chance to earn it all back in six hours.
"No point keeping resources if I am too scared to use them."
He selected the building.
A blue outline appeared on the empty land beside the conquest portal.
"Rowan, I am placing another barracks."
The Farmer looked up from the field.
"Will it affect the plots?"
"No. It will be on the other side of the territory."
"Then I have nothing useful to say about it, my lord."
Carlos nodded and confirmed the location.
--
[Building Requirements fulfilled]
[Wood x100 consumed]
[Stone x100 consumed]
[Slime Core x20 consumed]
--
The territory started shaking.
Blue jumped out of the spring and hid behind Rowan’s legs.
Stones rose from the ground and formed a short circular wall. Water filled the inside until it looked like a wide pool. A blue crystal appeared over its center and floated slightly above the surface.
--
Blue Water Slime Barracks
Level 1
Uncommon Grade
A barracks that summons Blue Water Slimes.
Troop Ability: Water Shot (Level 1)
Daily Summon: 1/1
Upgrade Requirements: 0/200 Wood, 0/200 Stone, 0/50 Slime Cores
--
Carlos looked at his remaining resources.
--
Wood x0
Stone x5
Slime Cores x40
--
"That hurts to look at."
He turned back toward the barracks.
"Summon."
The floating crystal shone.
Water gathered below it, slowly forming a round blue body with a small core in the middle.
A Blue Water Slime dropped into the pool.
It bounced once before looking in Carlos’s direction.

Blue Water Slime
Level 1
Uncommon Grade
Ability: Water Shot (Level 1)
Favorability: 10/100
Daily Food Consumption: 2 Slime Cores
--
Carlos’s smile disappeared.
"It eats Slime Cores?"
The slime bounced again.
He had forty left, which meant he had enough food for twenty days if he summoned no more troops.
But the barracks could summon one slime every day.
Ten slimes would consume twenty cores daily.
’So I can’t mindlessly summon as many as possible.’
Carlos had discovered the first limit of his new barracks.
"You need a name too."
Rowan immediately looked at him.
"It does not need a name, my lord."
"How will I tell it apart when there are more?"
"Use a number."
Carlos looked between Blue and the Blue Water Slime.
"Fine. This one is One."
[Blue Water Slime has been named: One]
Rowan returned to the field without saying anything.
"You suggested it," Carlos shouted after him.
The next six hours passed faster than Carlos expected.
He slept while the Recovery Potion restored his body. Rowan woke him when the first wheat crop was ready.
Carlos walked outside and stopped at the edge of the field.
Golden wheat covered the entire plot.
--
Common Wheat
Common Grade
Status: Mature
Quality: High
--
"It has not even been an hour," Carlos said.
"The soil makes crops grow ten times faster," Rowan replied. "My ability helped a little too."
Carlos looked toward the Spirit Farmland beside it.
If the ordinary fertile plot was already this fast, he wanted to see what the Epic soil could do.
Rowan harvested the wheat carefully.
[Common Wheat x42 harvested]
[Common Wheat Seeds x31 obtained]
[Farmer’s Lodge upgrade condition fulfilled: 20 crops harvested]
[Territory Experience x5]
Carlos took one piece of wheat from his inventory and inspected it.
--
Common Wheat
High Quality
Can be processed into flour or used as basic food.
Market Value: Locked
--
It was the first resource his territory had produced on its own.
He had not conquered anything.
The system had not handed it to him as a reward.
Instead, something had been created inside his territory.
It sounded like the same thing, but it felt different.
Carlos held the wheat for a moment before returning it to his inventory.
"Plant another twenty seeds."
"Already planned, my lord."
Rowan started preparing the field again.
By the time the Resource Hunt drew close, Carlos’s health had returned to full.
He stretched beside the Lord’s hut while checking everyone who would enter with him.
Rowan carried no tools because the event would provide them.
Blue sat on Carlos’s shoulder.
One bounced beside his leg.
"We have ten minutes," Carlos said. "Take anything useful. Don’t waste time, and don’t go so far that we lose each other."
Rowan nodded.
Blue raised both hands.
One bounced.
Carlos decided that meant everyone understood.
A notification appeared across the territory.
[Resource Hunt will begin in 10 seconds]
[Select participating troops and residents]
Carlos selected all three.
[Participants registered: Lord Carlos Goldwin, Farmer Rowan, Mana Water Sprite Blue, Blue Water Slime One]

White light covered them.
The next second, they were gone.
