My Farming Domain Is Broken

Chapter 52. A Territory Worth Naming

The production side grew with it. Rowan used the Purified Soil to repair the worst sections of the Common Farmland. He replanted one hundred and sixty wheat seeds and divided a smaller undamaged area for vegetables.

Carlos opened all three Basic Crop Seed Selection Chests.

[Rice Seeds x30]

[Corn Seeds x30]

[Bean Seeds x30]

[Carrot Seeds x30]

[Onion Seeds x30]

[Cabbage Seeds x30]

[Tomato Seeds x30]

[Green Herb Seeds x30]

Rowan selected carrots, onions, cabbage and beans for the first vegetable rows.

He explained where each crop should be planted and how much space it needed. Blue helped him irrigate while Carlos and the guards carried tools and removed burned soil.

Mira moved between the kitchen and field with a smile that did not disappear for the entire morning.

"Vegetable stew," she said while looking at the new rows. "Meat with onions. Cabbage soup. Roasted carrots."

"They have not grown yet."

"I am planning."

Mira used the first processed Razorback Meat to prepare one hundred Roasted Meat Meals.

Stamina recovery increased.

Twenty-three meals fed everyone in the territory.

The remaining meals fulfilled the daily trade agreements and the first part of the Hearthkeeper Lodge contract.

Carlos received wood, stone, iron and Copper Coins in return.

Part of those resources went into a second Basic Residence for the new troops.

Another part upgraded the Cold Storage.

Freshness loss reduced by 98%.

The fourteen remaining Razorback Boars were processed throughout the day. Mira handled the meat while the Tool Workshop produced additional knives, hooks and cutting tables.

Carlos helped whenever he was not working on another building. By sunset, the territory no longer looked like a ruined farm.

Iron-reinforced walls surrounded the inner land.

Four towers watched over the fields.

Bearkin trained near their hall. Veteran Guards drilled new Militia at the western gate. Nessa practiced from the eastern tower while One and Two fired Water Shots from the northern wall.

Smoke rose peacefully from the Territory Kitchen.

Rows of wheat and vegetables covered the repaired soil.

The Tidal Silverwood stood above them all, its blue-veined leaves moving in the evening air. Carlos opened the Territory panel.

There were still unfinished walls, empty towers and buildings waiting for upgrades.

But for one full day, nothing attacked them.

No portal opened and no raid began. The territory simply grew by the minute as Carlos had no plans to stop.

Carlos stood on the northern wall with everyone working below him.

For the first time since entering the World of Lords, the land looked less like a temporary starting area and more like the beginning of a town.

Carlos remained on the northern wall until the sun began disappearing.

Below him, the final construction teams stopped working.

Kaia changed the guard rotation. Two Veterans remained at the controlled entrances, Nessa watched from the eastern tower and One occupied the northern platform.

Two bounced below the tower because it had not yet learned how to use the sloped path properly.

Brann and Garr returned to the Bearkin Hall while Rowan finished checking the newly planted vegetables.

Blue floated above the Mana Spring, moving small streams of water between the repaired fields.

Smoke rose from the Territory Kitchen. Carlos felt PTSD from the smoke but it did not smell like burning wheat or wet Greenleaf this time.

It smelled like roasted meat.

Mira appeared at the kitchen door.

"Dinner is ready!"

Everyone heard her. Brann came back out of his hall immediately and Garr followed closely.

The guards left their positions one at a time so the territory was never unwatched. Rowan washed the soil from his hands before joining them.

Carlos climbed down from the wall.

Several tables had been placed between the kitchen and Lord’s hut. They did not match. Some came from the residences, while others had been made quickly inside the Tool Workshop.

Mira had covered all of them with food.

"You made all of this?" Carlos asked.

"We have so many ingredients now, it’s exciting to cook" Mira replied. "And Tarin learned how to turn the meat without burning it."

The southern tower archer lifted one hand from among the guards.

"I burned the first four pieces. Sorry, my lord."

"Only four," Mira said cheerfully. "That is good for a first attempt."

Carlos nodded with a smile while he looked over the tables.

The first meal inside the territory had been plain wheat boiled in water.

Now there was enough food for every resident and troop that could eat cooked meals.

One and Two consumed Slime Cores inside their barrack. Blue absorbed a small amount of Mana Water mixed with berry juice.

Everyone else took a seat.

Brann and Garr each received five full portions.

Mira had prepared for that.

Carlos sat between her and Kaia.

"Before we eat," he said, "I want a report from every part of the territory."

Mira placed a wheat cake on his plate.

"After the first bite."

"Why?"

"Because you skipped the last meal while building walls."

Carlos looked at the wheat cake.

Then at Mira.

She continued smiling, but she did not move.

Carlos took a bite.

"Good. Reports."

Mira laughed softly.

Rowan spoke first.

"The surviving wheat is healthy. The Common Farmland needs more work before all the burned soil can be used. Carrots, onions, cabbage and beans have been planted."

"What do you need?"

"Another Farmer."

Carlos nodded.

The Level 2 Farmer’s Lodge could summon two every day. He had avoided adding residents faster than the food supply could support them, but that was no longer a problem.

"Tomorrow, you get two. You choose where they work."

Rowan looked satisfied.

[Rowan Favorability increased by 5]

Mira went next.

"The kitchen can complete all current agreements and still feed the territory. The Cold Storage has enough room for the remaining boars, but I need more people if we want to use the full meal capacity every day."
