"Not inside my hut."

They carried the iron box beyond the northern wall.

One and Two watched from their tower. Nessa drew an arrow but did not aim it while Blue remained pressed against Carlos’s shoulder.

Brann placed the black stone on bare ground.

Then he struck it.

The impact cracked the soil beneath their feet, but the stone remained unscathed.

Its second eyelid opened another fraction.

"Stop," Carlos said.

If Rare-grade Bearkin strength could not scratch it, another hit would only waste time.

Carlos opened his inventory and searched through everything obtained from the Reverse Conquest.

The Warden Chains reacted first.

All four lengths of dark metal began shaking inside their storage slots, which seemed abnormal.

Carlos removed one, and it wrapped around his arm like a snake without tightening. Every link turned toward the black stone as if it could see.

"Use it," Kaia said. "We are not ready to face any kind of danger directly at Ironroot yet."

Carlos had already confirmed it before she finished speaking. The chain launched from his arm.

It wrapped around the stone again and again before melting into its surface. The second eyelid fought against it.

For several seconds, neither moved.

Then the eye snapped shut.

Carlos stared at the timer.

’7 days...’

He still had three chains.

Twenty-one more days if each remaining chain worked once. But Carlos could not tell whether the requirements would remain the same.

After that, he would either find a permanent solution or discover what happened when another eye opened.

"Move it away from the residences," Carlos said. "Stone platform. No building within twenty meters."

Kaia immediately marked an isolated section inside the northern Military District.

Brann and Garr carried the box there.

Carlos assigned one Veteran Guard to watch it from outside the marked area. The guard’s only responsibility was to report movement. He was not to approach or touch it.

The second eye had been delayed and Ironroot still needed to grow.

Carlos returned to the Trade section and offered one High-quality Razorback Meal for ten Iron Ore.

The request was accepted within seconds.

Every territory needed food each day, no matter how much wood, stone or ore its Lord possessed. Having a surplus did not make Carlos’s meals cheap. It only gave him more power while negotiating.

The Warehouse was constructed beside the Cold Storage before noon.

It formed as a broad stone building with reinforced wooden doors. Empty racks divided the interior into sections for wood, stone, ore, tools and equipment.

Carlos authorized Mira to withdraw cooking materials, Rowan to withdraw farming tools and seeds, and Kaia to manage weapons and defensive supplies.

None of them could access another section without his permission.

For the first time, Carlos did not need to personally hand out every hoe, arrow or piece of ore.

Kaia collected the equipment promised to the guards. Rowan sent Elias for tools without interrupting his work. Mira deposited the packaged meals meant for trade and returned to the kitchen.

The territory moved faster because Carlos was no longer standing in the middle of every small decision. Carlos looked toward the northern platform.

He used the remaining daily summons next.

Another Woodland Archer joined Nessa.

A third Bearkin Guardian emerged from the hall and was sent to Brann.

One Hearthkeeper joined Mira, while two more Shield Militia reported to Kaia for training.

Carlos did not summon more slimes.

The barrack could produce two every day, but numbers without enough Slime Cores would become a burden. One and Two were enough until he secured a stable supply.

Every new resident received food, a bed and an assigned responsibility.

Only then did Carlos return to the Basic Development Chest.

The rewards were useful, but his attention immediately moved to the last one.

Carlos selected the seed immediately, summoning it into his palm.

It was as large as the tip of his thumb, with a hard green shell and two folded leaves already growing from it.

The leaves moved against his palm as if they were alive, creeping Carlos out. That was not how plants normally worked.

Carlos read the description again, and his mouth slowly fell open.

He looked toward the unfinished walls and a place that could be ideal for the seed.

He ran toward Rowan with the seed in hand, too excited to remain idle.

Rowan held out his palm and Carlos placed the seed on it.

The two folded leaves immediately opened and pressed against Rowan’s thumb as if recognizing him and not Carlos.

"It is alive," Rowan said in a light mutter. His eyes were not grumpy when he looked at the seed.

"It is supposed to become a defensive plant. Can you grow it?"

Rowan crouched and examined the green shell.

"I can plant it. I have never grown anything that shoots people," Rowan said, and Carlos saw excitement in his eyes.

"The shooting part is my responsibility," Kaia said as she approached after overhearing their conversation.

Carlos showed both of them the description.

Kaia walked along the unfinished wall while Rowan checked the soil. The land was completely flat and empty. No trees or stones provided cover outside the boundary. Anything approaching from that direction would remain visible.

Kaia stopped beside the southern entrance.

"Here. It can watch the entrance and the open ground beyond it. If it fires inward, the wall will stop most missed shots."

Rowan pressed two fingers into the soil.

"The ground needs preparing," Rowan said. "Plant it now and the seed might be wasted or suffer stunted growth."
