My father sold me to the Mafia King
Chapter 408/Prepping for the VIP ClientChapter 408
Julie’s POV
Robert’s face hardened like stone as he listened to my words, total shock dawning over his usually icy features. If he was trying to torture and humiliate me in this sick, twisted way, he didn’t deserve to hear an ounce of truth from me. Not a single word.
My own bitter whispers echoed in my chest: *"I left the moment I realized you were selling me out for nothing, Robert... but since you dragged me back here against my will, I’m going to make sure I get my revenge on you in my own way."*
I stared straight at his rock-hard, unreadable face, letting out a sharp, mocking sneer.
"What the hell is the matter with you? Are you really that shocked that you’re just an idiot mafioso who swallowed the bait like a complete naive fool?"
He didn’t utter a word. He didn’t even make a move. Instead, he just turned toward the door with silent steps, opened it, and walked right out of the room with an unsettling coldness, acting as if I hadn’t said a damn thing. I darted a quick glance at Sarah, who was still unconscious and sprawling on the carpet, before I bolted out the door myself, racing down the hall toward my room.
I slammed the door shut behind me and collapsed onto the mattress in absolute exhaustion. My mind was spinning out of control, desperately searching for a way to save my brother, Steve, and hurl Robert’s humiliation right back in his face a way that suited my bleeding, shattered pride.
Burning tears spilled down my cheeks against my will. My wretched heart ached with a furious curse every time I remembered how easily he had given up on me, and how utterly stupid I had been to fall for him that deeply. Now he was holding my brother’s life over my head like a knife, forcing me to live in this living hell just to keep Steve alive.
Suddenly, the door burst open with a deafening slam that echoed straight down the hallway.
I jolted upright in terror, only to see that bastard Thomas rolling into the room in his wheelchair. He leveled a sly, predatory glare at me, his voice coming out dry and raspy.
"Ah, Julie... so my son actually found you after all?"
I met his gaze with pure sarcasm. "Did you tell him where the hell I was?"
His lips curled into a bitter, condescending laugh. "Do I look like an idiot who would throw the snake back into my son’s arms?"
I locked my eyes onto his, frowning in genuine confusion. "I really do wonder why the hell you hate me so utterly much, Uncle Thomas."
He let out a crude, arrogant laugh that shattered the quiet room, sneering, "And finally, that sharp tongue of yours is working again!"
"It only works with scumbags, Uncle," I snapped with finality.
His wheelchair ground to a halt right in the middle of the room. He stared at me with an unsettlingly deadpan expression. "Have you thought about what I asked of you?"
I lifted my head high, solid determination setting into my features. "I am never donating my liver. Period."
His brows furrowed as a veiled threat dripped into his tone. "I can take your liver, Julie, even without your damn consent."
I stood up, stepping forward in sheer defiance, giving him a icy glare. "Are you going to rip it out by force, then?"
He snapped his head away, annoyed. "There are plenty of ways to do it... but I don’t want to resort to them right now."
I pressed my lips into a tight line, my voice razor-sharp. "If I kill myself, you won’t be able to take my liver or use a single piece of it!"
His face instantly stiffened, darkening into a heavy gloom. "I know you’re crazy enough to actually do it."
I dragged a deep, heavy breath into my lungs, my mind racing as an idea caught fire. "I have a deal for you... If you agree to it, I’ll agree to the donation without hesitation."
He tilted his head forward, his eyes narrowing. "And what the hell is your deal?"
"I want you to save my brother from Robert’s hands," I said, my breathing heavy and rapid.
He shook his head in absolute refusal. "I can’t interfere in my son’s business. Absolutely not."
"Then I don’t have a liver to give to your grandson," I shot back coldly.
His broad jaw clenched hard, his eyes clouding over as he pondered it for a few tense seconds. Finally, with a sigh of defeat, he muttered, "I’ll see what I can do about it."
"And I want out of here, too," I added quickly.
He cut me off sternly, grabbing the wheels of his chair to turn himself back toward the door. "That’s completely impossible... I can save your brother, but you? Robert would kill me for your sake if you ran away."
I let out a soft, mocking laugh. "You’re his father, for God’s sake... While I’m just a nobody to him!"
He didn’t turn back to look at me, heading out into the hall as he spoke. "I will save your brother as soon as possible."
I sank down onto the edge of the bed, letting a calm, deep breath filter into my chest. A surge of relief washed through my veins; at long last, I was going to pull my brother Steve from Robert’s grip. Robert wouldn’t be able to hold that cruel, wicked bargaining chip over my throat any longer.
Then, out of nowhere... I heard a few soft, hesitant knocks against the wooden door.
My brows drew together in confusion. The staff here never knocked on doors with that kind of politeness. I pushed myself up, taking slow, measured steps to open the door. Standing on the other side were Natasha and Sam the duo in charge of styling and makeup over at the club.
I smiled instinctively, greeting them warmly. Sam offered a warm, friendly grin, speaking in his usual cheerful tone.
"Julie, darling! How are you doing, sweetie?"
"I’m okay, Sam," I answered, feeling a brief sense of comfort.
Natasha stepped forward, her eyes scanning my face with admiration. "Oh, Julie... I missed glamming up this beautiful face of yours!"
I let out a quiet laugh. "Thank you, Natasha."
Sam motioned toward the inside of the room with his hand, rushing his words. "Make way and let us in... We don’t have much time."
I backed away to let them inside, watching as they stepped through with their heavy tool bags. I asked curiously, "What the hell is going on? Who even told you two I was here?"
Natasha placed her bag down on the table, turning around to face me with a dead-serious look in her eyes.
"Oh, sweetie... We’re here to get you ready. A very important client is arriving today... and you’re the one going to him."
