My Girlfriend Is a Demon Queen

Chapter 39: That’s what... it’s called."

"I... I think..."

"You’re hungry. I’ll... I’ll go make something real quick."

The Demon’s red eyes glared at him as if she was actually going to rip him apart for what he just said.

Without wasting a single second, Himanshu jerked around. He started taking long, trembling steps straight toward the kitchen.

But then... he heard the sound of loud, heavy breathing right behind him. The kind of sound someone makes when they’re choking on their spit or panting in absolute rage.

Himanshu’s feet froze to the ground. He didn’t even have the courage to turn around and look. Sweat dripping from his forehead, hands trembling... he felt like he was going to collapse to his knees at any second.

Gathering a lot of courage, he tried to turn his neck.

And the moment his eyes landed on the Demon... she was crouching on that same dining chair with both her feet up. Her eyebrows were furrowed hard, and the loud sound of her grinding teeth filled the room. Her entire posture looked like a wild animal getting ready to pounce straight at him.

Before Himanshu could even get a proper look at her, a panicked voice escaped his mouth.

"Stop...!"

But before he could even raise his hands to protect himself, the Demon leaped off the chair.

Flying through the air, she grabbed Himanshu’s collar tight with both hands and wrapped her legs around his waist, locking him in.

The pot of burnt food in Himanshu’s hands crashed straight into the floor, scattering all the garbage across the tiles with a loud clatter.

Trying to handle the weight of her sudden attack, Himanshu didn’t even realize when he lost his balance.

They both went down, Himanshu crashing flat on his back.

The Demon was now sitting right on top of his chest, taking heavy, rapid breaths. It looked as if a ferocious beast had been struck by hunger and rage at the exact same time.

"Wh-What’re you doing?"

Her tightly knit eyebrows and face flushed with anger clearly showed she was about to let all her rage out right now.

"Stop..."

"I said stop!"

Before Himanshu could yell anything else, the Demon yanked his collar violently with both hands.

Riiip...!

The sound of Himanshu’s shirt tearing echoed through the silent hall. Popped buttons fell to the floor with a tap-tap, rolling away into the distance.

The very next second, Himanshu’s eyes went wide and his pupils started trembling.

The Demon’s mouth opened, revealing her sharp fangs, ready to bite him in the next second. Hearing a vicious, guttural growl coming from her throat, Himanshu threw both his hands up to protect himself.

"No... no... no! Please stop...!"

But the Demon instantly grabbed both his wrists with her hands, slammed them against the floor, and pinned them down.

And like a starving wolf... just slightly above his collarbone, near his neck... she sank her sharp fangs right into his soft skin.

"Aaaaaaaaa...!"

Himanshu screamed so violently that the veins in his neck pulled, triggering a sharp pain. But because he was pinned under the Demon, his scream just remained trapped within the walls of the room.

The Demon kept digging her teeth in until bright red blood started showing on his pale skin.

The pain was so sharp and unbearable that tears leaked from the corners of Himanshu’s eyes, sliding down to hit the floor.

A moment later, he felt those sharp fangs pull out of his flesh.

Along with that, the piercing pain of the bite faded a bit. But the burning sensation over the wound was so intense that Himanshu’s body was still trembling in agony, and his heart was racing way past its limit.

But as the Demon pulled back and sat up straight...

Looking into her red eyes, Himanshu’s heartbeat slowed down just a fraction.

Because the Demon’s breathing had finally returned to normal. Though she was still taking long breaths, like she had just finished running a massive marathon. In all this struggle and thrashing, her tied hair had come undone, and the white horns on her forehead were now clearly visible.

In just a few days, her hair had grown so long that it now touched her waist.

Blinking twice, the Demon loosened her grip and let go of Himanshu’s wrists.

The red marks of the Demon’s fingers were clearly visible on his skin.

Himanshu was feeling a little safer now. He figured her craving for blood had probably settled down. But he had no idea that her anger hadn’t died down at all.

The Demon narrowed her eyes again.

Himanshu couldn’t even understand what she wanted now. Before he could even touch his bleeding neck with his trembling hand, the Demon grabbed his torn shirt tight with both hands again.

"Tell me... Just tell me! Why am I not mad at you? You literally yelled at me! If it were anyone else, I would’ve ripped their tongue out... so why did I just sit there? And instead of killing you... why did I just want to bite you? Tell me! Or I swear I’ll keep biting you until you do!"

Holding onto his torn t-shirt, the Demon started shaking his body.

Himanshu had the feelings to explain this, but how to actually say it... he just couldn’t put the words together.

Now, his pupils weren’t restless out of fear, but because of the Demon’s confused state.

But the Demon’s growing anger and constant shaking finally forced the words out of Himanshu’s mouth.

"Car... Caring..."

"That’s what... it’s called."

Hearing this, the Demon’s hands suddenly stopped. Her intense eyes softened a little, and a very faint, whispering voice escaped her lips.

"Caring..."

Muttering this, the Demon let go of his shirt.

"I... I still don’t know why you bit me though," Himanshu said softly.

The two of them just kept staring into each other’s eyes, searching for an answer.

Dead silence had taken over the hall again. Only their long, heavy breaths could be heard.

But right then... both their bodies flinched in shock.

Ding-Dong!

The sound of the main gate’s bell hit their ears.

Narrowing her eyes, the Demon got off him so fast that Himanshu didn’t even process it.

Putting all his strength into his legs, Himanshu instantly sprinted toward his room, while the Demon jerked her long hair forward to hide her horns... scooped the spilled food into a plate, and dashed straight toward the kitchen.

All of this happened in literally the blink of an eye.

And just as she reached out to drop the dirty pot into the sink... the Demon froze by the sink for a second. She couldn’t believe it herself—out of fear of a normal human walking in... she was actually cleaning up.

...

"What happened to your hair?"

"Are you okay?"

Standing at the door, Mom had perfectly gauged the Demon’s messy state. Though looking at her messy hair, anyone could easily tell they were tied up on top of her head in a huge rush just a few seconds ago.

The Demon just stood there. She kept looking into Mom’s eyes. Like always, she chose to stay quiet.

A few seconds later, letting out a heavy sigh, Mom reminded herself what kind of girl she was.

"Anyway, forget all that."

"We’re stuffing ourselves with pizza tonight!"

Mom laughed, lifting the 4 or 5 pizza boxes stacked in her hands.

Just then, coming down the stairs in a fresh t-shirt, Himanshu ran toward the main gate. He was terrified the Demon might accidentally show her horns.

And right as he stopped in front of Mom, panting heavily...

Mom’s eyes fell straight on Himanshu.

That smile on her face froze for a second, and her eyes slowly narrowed down.

And right then... Himanshu realized his t-shirt collar was folded down, and that fresh, blood-red bite mark on his neck... was fully visible to Mom.
