"A request, you say? What interest could that human have with us? Did assassinating a demon king with Ophelia’s help make him arrogant enough to believe he can impose a request on our kingdom?"

Flare said with a voice dripping with venom and absolute contempt.

"A supposed human hero who now calls himself a demon king? Are you aware of how stupid that sounds, dragon of the north?"

Lighter intervened from his position near his father’s throne. The second son stepped forward with a frown and a mocking smile.

"Enough."

Demon King Rohan ordered in a deep voice. His single word was enough for silence to rule the hall before any more complaints could be voiced.

"Stand up."

The monarch added, fixing his dark eyes on the two women kneeling in the center of the room.

Irnina was the first to obey the order. The fire dragon rose gracefully and stood there facing her feared king.

Lise clenched her fists tightly, controlling her own dragon pride. She slowly stood up from the floor and looked directly at the demon king with a serious expression.

"Tell me what you really came for, wind dragon."

Rohan said, completely ignoring the hostility of his wife and children.

Lise adjusted her clothes slightly, brushing off some imaginary ash. She kept her gaze fixed on the monarch and replied in a direct and sharp tone.

"That was what I intended to do from the beginning. I have not the slightest intention of staying long in this suffocating place."

At that arrogant response, just as Lise was going to continue speaking, a furious voice suddenly interrupted her.

"Address the demon king properly, you stupid woman."

Lighter intervened, irritated by the enemy emissary’s highly informal and haughty way of speaking. The young infernal pointed his finger at her, releasing a bit of his murderous aura.

"I don’t care how your new master allows you to speak to him in your castle. Here, you will show better manners in front of the demon kings."

"Silence, brat."

Lise replied immediately, glaring at him with a look full of fury.

Without moving a single muscle in her body, the white dragon sent a massive shockwave of compressed wind straight toward the prince. The invisible impact struck Lighter’s shoulders with the force of a hurricane, forcing him down to his knees on the stone floor.

"What the hell happened?"

Solaris muttered, his eyes widening at the absurd display of power. Ash, the youngest son, grew very restless seeing his strong older brother kneeling and humiliated like that.

Aedan and Flare kept their gazes forward, showing not the slightest compassion for the prince.

"You brought that upon yourself for talking too much."

Aedan said very coldly, looking at his younger brother on the floor as if he were a total disappointment to the bloodline.

Irnina touched her forehead with immense annoyance and let out a long sigh. The fire dragon seemed to have foreseen a similar situation from the moment Lise landed in the city.

Demon King Rohan said absolutely nothing about the aggression toward his own son. Seeing that the monarch accepted her strength, Lise immediately turned back to him to continue.

"The former demon king Rigal had kidnapped your son with the intention of handing him over to the church. And my master Ryan, after killing that demon king, immediately took the little one under his protection."

Lise spoke in a loud voice so that everyone could hear the truth of the events that had occurred in the north.

The silence in the throne room grew heavy upon hearing about the missing prince’s whereabouts.

"Right now, he is in our castle in Kowarre, completely healthy and uninjured. That is the only reason I am here. My master wants to return your son to you."

Before the demon king could process the news and respond, the atmosphere in the throne room heated up to an extreme degree. The suffocating energy came directly from Flare.

The empress frowned and crossed her arms, squeezing her own pale skin very tightly. She took a long step forward, looking completely furious about the child’s survival.

"That damn brat is still alive. I knew perfectly well that it was best to kill him from the beginning."

Flare said with immense annoyance and hatred in her tone of voice. She made not the slightest attempt to hide her immense contempt for that particular son.

Rohan’s sons also seemed bothered by that sudden revelation about their half-brother. However, none of the princes dared to voice an opinion in the face of the empress’s wrath and waited for the demon king’s response.

After a few long, tense seconds of silence, Rohan finally spoke. He directly asked Lise what exactly her master wanted in exchange for returning the boy alive.

But Flare intervened immediately, raising her voice again. The queen tried by all means to prevent an official negotiation from taking place, arguing that it was most likely some sort of trap.

But the demon king completely ignored her complaining comment. He knew that, more than worrying about a trap in the north, what Flare truly wanted was to prevent that son from returning to the castle at all costs.

However, the demon king added a very sharp analysis of the situation.

"If the church wants him so desperately, it is because he possesses something inside him that we right now cannot understand or control."

The demon king deduced out loud that Ryan probably did know the child’s true value. Rohan stared at Lise, searching for confirmation on her expressionless face.

Lise did not deny it, but she did not confirm it at any point either. The dragon remained in complete silence, protecting any valuable secrets of her master.

Then the demon king shifted his focus and asked Irnina what she really thought of Ryan. Out of everyone present in the castle, she was the only one who had seen him up close and faced him.

Irnina took a step forward and said with complete sincerity that Ryan was someone highly interesting to study.

"When I met him in the Varvylon dungeon, because of the strange scent his body emitted, I deeply doubted that he was truly human."

Irnina looked at her rulers and then corrected herself, refining her theory about the new king of the north.

"No. Even now, I think he is not truly a normal human being. At the very least, I can safely say that his energy is neither human nor from the deity."

Then Irnina raised her hand and pointed directly at Lise, who looked back at her with indifference.

"The clearest proof of his power is this very woman. If the wind dragon is completely crazy about him, he must be someone truly exceptional."

Irnina concluded her report with a very clear warning for the royal family.

"Without a doubt, what I believe is that we must not take this supposed human lightly."

After those strong statements from Irnina, the demon king remained processing the information in silence. Flare clicked her tongue but did not continue questioning her husband’s authority.

Then Lise took the floor and explained the terms of the negotiation. She said that what Ryan wanted was large amounts of mineral and magical resources that are naturally found in the scorching Ignis nation.

And in exchange for all of that, Demon King Ryan would agree to return his son safely.

To Demon King Rohan, that was a vastly audacious demand. But after considering it for a few minutes, he decided to accept the deal to get his son back.

Rohan told Lise to return to the north and inform her master that he would soon send someone official to make the exchange.

"I understand perfectly. Then I will inform my master immediately and leave here as soon as possible. I hate disgustingly hot weather like this." The dragon added with a grimace of disgust on her face, complaining about the fortress’s heat.

"Will you send Igniel to carry out this bothersome task?"

Flare asked, looking at her husband with doubt.

"Yes, it is the most prudent thing to do. We just have to wait for him to return from his current assignment."

Demon King Rohan commented, bringing the diplomatic audience to an end.

Then Aedan, the first son, stepped forward with immense determination.

"Father, you depend too much on Igniel’s strength for everything. I can perfectly handle these trivial matters."

Aedan said with confidence and arrogance in his voice, seeking his king’s approval.

"Huh..." The demon king looked back at his eldest son, evaluating his true potential for the mission. "Are you sure about that? If it really were a trap, you wouldn’t fare well against that man at all."

"If it really were a trap, then it doesn’t suit you at all to send and risk Igniel."

Aedan replied, using excellent military logic to convince his father to change his mind.

"Let me handle this personally. Send me to Kowarre."

Noting that great confidence and the impeccable logic in his words, the demon king nodded his head. Rohan made a new decision.

"Alright, you will go north along with Irnina to ensure the success of the exchange."

"Father. Allow me to go with them as well."

Solaris said, taking a quick step forward. The fourth son wanted to take the opportunity to leave the castle and observe the situation for himself.

"Alright, the three of you will go together to the cold nation of Kowarre."

As the monarch said this, the three chosen demons stood extremely firm in the center of the hall. The demon king directed his piercing gaze exclusively at Solaris.

"And you, listen to me well. Do absolutely nothing to provoke Demon King Ryan’s wrath."

Rohan warned his fourth son in a stern voice.

"I know very well that you ran into his group once in the past, and it didn’t go well for you at all."

"Yes, Father. I assure you I will not cause any trouble."

Solaris said with a rather bitter smile on his face. He was probably remembering the day he faced the savage human Helen.

Lise, who was already walking down the long outer corridor, reconnected to her magical bond.

’Young master. Mission accomplished. I will return to you right now.’
