My Hidden Heresy Skill Forged an SSS-Ranked Harem for Infinite Points
Chapter 334: Accelerated Evolution"How cold the snow is, I like it a lot," Delia muttered to herself.
She was lying in the center of the courtyard, right outside the castle walls. Her body lay motionless in that place as the white flakes slowly fell on her face.
"I couldn’t stand the immense heat of Varvylon," the heroine added, closing her eyes to enjoy the low temperature of the northern nation.
Delia brought a hand to her stomach, feeling the severe pain of the impact in her muscles. She spat a bit of blood onto the snow to the side, clearing her mouth.
"That woman... so that is the power of an SS-rank," Delia said with a mix of surprise and pain in her voice.
She remembered the overwhelming speed of Helen’s fist breaking the magical protection barriers that William used. And Helen broke them as if they were sheets of paper.
"I didn’t think she would hit me so hard. Although it was very foolish to try to provoke them. That made me see that they still retain their humanity," Delia reasoned, looking at the gray clouds in the sky.
Delia remained motionless talking to herself in the cold courtyard. Although she had already fully regained her physical senses, she preferred not to go inside the hall yet.
She knew that her impulsive presence would only cause more problems in William’s negotiation with the demon king.
Meanwhile, inside the throne room, the initial tension slowly began to dissipate.
After everyone calmed down from the misunderstanding, Ryan’s girls adjusted their postures. They lowered their weapons, but without losing their strict state of alert regarding the outsiders.
Ryan settled back into his seat. He raised a hand in silence, allowing the humans to finally explain their situation.
It was Iris who took a step forward on the thick carpet. At first, the young adventurer looked somewhat nervous under the heavy and cold gaze of the women surrounding her.
"Lord Demon King Ryan," Iris spoke, giving a slight bow out of respect.
"You probably already know who I am, but I will introduce myself anyway. I was a member of the assassin clan that tried to set a trap for you in the dwarven city," Iris explained with a calm voice, trying not to sound threatening.
"We went our separate ways after you spared my life. Once I took you to the tower where they held the dwarves prisoner, and which was the hideout of the assassin clan members," Iris continued, keeping her gaze fixed on Ryan.
Ryan nodded in silence. He let the adventurer know that he did remember her very well and that she could continue with her story.
Iris seemed to drop a huge weight from her shoulders upon seeing the confirmation. She explained that, after separating from Ryan’s group that night, she decided to change her lifestyle completely. She spent a long time working as a lone mercenary across different regions of the continent.
And on a particular occasion during her work travels, she traveled to the distant elven nation.
Hearing the name of her native home, Irina immediately straightened her back. The elf observed the human with much more curiosity than before.
"There, the spirit beside me appeared to me with great curiosity," Iris revealed.
She raised her hand, pointing to the glowing entity next to William on the carpet.
That strange statement immediately caught Chloe’s attention. The former holy knight took a step forward, reviewing the church’s old lessons about spirits.
"Why would a spirit be interested in approaching a human?" Chloe asked, looking very skeptical.
"They stopped interacting with common humans decades ago, didn’t they?" she questioned, glancing sideways at the luminous entity.
Then, taking a step forward to answer the doubt, the spirit began to change her form.
Her body now looked like that of a short human woman. She had very long, curled green hair falling down her back.
Her entire body was illuminated with a very warm aura of the same green color as her hair.
"Your Majesty, I am a Dryad," the spirit introduced herself with a soft voice, giving a small and elegant bow toward the throne.
"You may address me as Nadira," she said to the king and his escort.
"What this young woman says is true," Nadira assured, validating the mercenary’s story against Chloe’s doubt.
"There is a very special reason why I approached her. Iris has a peculiar energy inside her. Something that should be dormant due to her nature. Strangely, it awakened," the Dryad explained calmly, glancing at the adventurer.
Then Nadira turned her gaze to look Ryan directly in the eyes.
"And I consider that you are the cause of that, Your Majesty," the Dryad accused with much calm in her voice.
Ryan frowned immediately. He didn’t understand what the spirit was talking about, since he had only scared the mercenary to get information out of her in the past.
"What are you talking about?" Ryan asked, feeling that he was missing important pieces in this matter.
The girls around him also found that statement very strange. Lise and Alicia looked at each other in doubt, not understanding how Ryan would awaken magic in someone outside the group.
Then William took a step forward to clarify the confusing situation.
"What she’s trying to say, Ryan, is that your magic acts in unpredictable ways. Even though your power should be simple support buffs, when you interacted with her, you caused her evolutionary capabilities to increase drastically," William assured, pointing at Iris.
"Now they have grown stronger in a short time. Not just Iris," William clarified. "Delia and Alina also experienced this. You’ve probably already realized that with your own people," William finished, glancing sideways at Helen, Beatrice, and the other women escorting the demon king.
’I think that surprises even me. But it’s true. The power progression they all have had has been very fast,’ the human evaluated from his throne.
Ryan moved his eyes slowly and looked at each of his girls. He noticed Mirian’s firm posture, the density of Karol’s mana, Helen’s physical lethality.
All of them had surpassed S-rank in record time. His simple presence and his shared magic forced his allies to break their limits in an accelerated manner.
And then, Ryan looked back at the outsiders in the center of the hall.
"And what does that have to do with this spirit?" Ryan asked, wanting to get to the important point of this visit.
"What is the point of them having gotten a little stronger?" the king questioned impatiently, resting his cheek on his hand.
Then the Dryad sighed. She lowered her hands a little, making her green aura shine with a bit more intensity in the place.
"What is happening, Lord Demon King, is deeper than just gaining physical strength," Nadira explained.
"It’s that, in Iris’s case, she didn’t just get stronger. Her dormant power awakened because of that accelerated evolution," the Dryad clarified patiently.
"The power of a half-spirit," Nadira said in front of the entire attentive room.
"A half-spirit, you say?" Ryan intervened, leaning slightly forward in his stone seat.
The surprise in Ryan’s voice was genuine. That race was something new and unknown to him.
"Yes," the Dryad answered with a firm voice, unfazed by the king’s surprise.
"Iris is a half-spirit," Nadira confirmed.
The Dryad raised a glowing hand and pointed directly toward the high steps where Ryan’s escort was.
"Just like that woman," the Dryad said, pointing at Mirian with a very calm smile.
