Paris had welcomed them with success after success.

Luxury campaigns and fashion shows lined up for Liliana and Nicolo. While Pulse had been seen in magazine covers and television appearances.

Everything was going according to plan.

Until two days before Pulse’s concert, everything changed.

Chris woke up earlier than everyone else. His throat felt dry. His head was unusually heavy.

He frowned as he slowly sat up.

"Maybe I didn’t sleep enough."

He rubbed his forehead before quietly getting out of bed. As soon as his feet touched the floor, dizziness hit him. He grabbed the bedside table for support.

"Lily..." His voice came out hoarse.

Liliana immediately woke up.

She sat upright and looked at him.

"Chris?"

The moment she saw his face, she knew something was wrong.

She hurried toward him. "What happened?"

"I..."

He cleared his throat. "My head hurts."

Liliana gently placed the back of her hand against his forehead.

Her expression immediately changed.

"...You’re burning."

Chris smiled weakly.

"It’s probably nothing."

She didn’t answer.

Instead, she grabbed the digital thermometer from the bedside drawer.

Ever since the incident with Carl, she had developed the habit of preparing emergency supplies wherever they traveled.

A few seconds later...

38.9°C.

Liliana stared at the screen.

"...Chris."

He sighed.

"I know."

Half an hour later, the hotel’s doctor arrived.

Pulse had gathered inside the suite.

The doctor finished listening to Chris’s lungs before checking his throat.

"He has influenza."

Robin immediately frowned. "Can he perform?"

The doctor remained calm.

"He needs complete rest. Meaning, no rehearsals. No unnecessary talking. And plenty of fluids."

Everyone became quiet.

Nathan looked worried.

"Our concert..."

The doctor looked toward Robin.

"If his fever doesn’t improve, I strongly recommend postponing it or he doesn’t perform at all."

The room fell silent.

Pulse had never postponed a concert before. Nor perform without Chris or any member.

Not because they didn’t want to. But because Leo, as the leader, never allowed it.

Robin immediately informed Matthew.

Within an hour, an emergency meeting was called.

"The venue is already sold out," Robin explained. "Thousands of fans are flying in from neighboring countries."

Matthew folded his hands together.

"What do the doctors say?"

"They want him to rest."

Leo looked toward Chris. "What do you think?"

Chris answered without hesitation. "I’ll perform."

"No." Liliana spoke immediately.

Everyone looked at her.

Her voice remained calm but firm.

"You need rest."

Chris smiled.

"Lily."

"No."

She looked directly into his eyes.

"You’re sick. And your health comes first."

Chris gently held her hand.

"I know. But so do those fans. They’ve waited months."

Silence filled the room.

Even Liliana couldn’t deny that.

The following day, Chris stayed inside the hotel. Liliana decided to cancel every campaign she had and stayed to take care of her husband.

Mary looked surprised. "Lily. You don’t have to."

She smiled softly.

"I want to. I’m his wife. It’s my duty."

Robin frowned.

"But today’s luxury campaign—"

Emily suddenly raised her hand.

"I’ll go."

Everyone turned toward her.

Emily shrugged. "I’m representing our stylist department anyway. They mainly wanted wardrobe consultations. I can handle it."

Liliana smiled gratefully. "Thank you."

Emily waved casually.

"Take care of your husband. I’ll take care of fashion."

For the rest of the day, Liliana barely left Chris’s side.

She prepared warm ginger tea with honey. She cooked light soup and reminded him to drink water every thirty minutes.

Medicine was given exactly on time. When he coughed, she quietly rubbed his back. When his fever rose, she replaced the cold towel on his forehead.

Chris watched her moving around the room.

"You’ve been walking nonstop."

She smiled while preparing another cup of tea.

"So?"

"Aren’t you tired?"

Liliana looked at him.

"When you toured the world and felt exhausted, I wasn’t there. I know you got sick when you were in Dubai. I was worried but I never had the chance to take care of you."

She gently handed him the tea.

"Now that I’m here, I will take care of you."

Chris couldn’t stop smiling.

"I really married an angel."

She laughed.

"No. You married someone who worries too much."

Concert day finally arrived.

Chris woke up feeling better. But, not completely.

The fever had gone down. His voice remained slightly raspy. The cough lingered.

Liliana checked his temperature.

37.8°C.

She sighed in relief. "Better. But still not normal."

Chris smiled. "I told you I’d make it."

She crossed her arms. "You’ll only perform if you listen to everything I say."

He laughed.

"Yes, ma’am."

Inside Chris’ dressing room, the preparation looked completely different from usual.

Instead of only costumes and makeup, Liliana had transformed one dressing room into a temporary medical station.

Chris’ team didn’t question why Liliana was there because Matthew St. Claire informed them that she would be assisting Chris throughout the concert. They immediately agreed, thinking that they were already short on time and people.

Robin blinked.

"...Since when do we travel with this much medicine?"

Emily laughed.

"Since Lily started packing."

A portable first-aid cabinet stood neatly against one wall.

Medicine was organized by schedule. Extra bottled water, electrolyte drinks, fresh ginger juice with honey, vitamin supplements and disposable masks were on the table. Even a humidifier quietly operated in the corner.

A licensed nurse checked Chris’s vital signs before the concert. The doctor remained backstage throughout the entire event.

Matthew quietly looked around. Then smiled proudly. "I think she’s more prepared than some hospitals."

Amanda laughed. "That’s our daughter."

Before Pulse went on stage, Liliana carefully adjusted Chris’s in-ear monitor.

"Any dizziness?"

"A little."

"Difficulty breathing?"

"No."

"Cough?"

"A little."

She handed him another bottle of warm ginger juice.

"Drink."

Chris obediently did.

Nathan quietly whispered to River, "I’ve never seen Chris this obedient."

River grinned. "Marriage changes people."

The concert began.

The audience erupted with excitement.

Despite his illness, Chris stepped onto the stage with his usual confidence.

His voice wasn’t perfect. But it remained beautiful. No fans could tell he was sick.

After every performance, instead of immediately greeting fans backstage, he walked directly toward Liliana.

She already waited with warm water, medicine and a towel.

The nurse quickly checked him.

"Pulse is ready for the next set."

Liliana looked at Chris. "Can you continue?"

He nodded. "I’m okay."

She searched his face carefully before smiling.

"Then go."

He gently squeezed her hand. "I’ll come back."

This routine continued throughout the entire concert.

Every few songs, Chris returned backstage. Liliana would check his temperature and make sure he drank enough fluids.

The doctor monitored his condition closely. Even the members became more protective.

Aaron quietly carried extra towels. River reminded Chris not to speak unnecessarily backstage. Leo shortened several talking segments to let Chris conserve his voice. Nathan handled more audience interactions than usual.

No one complained. Everyone simply worked together. Because Pulse wasn’t just a group anymore. They were a family.

As Chris prepared to return for the final performances, he looked at Liliana.

"You know..."

She looked up.

"What?"

He smiled warmly.

"If I made it through tonight, it wasn’t because of medicine."

She tilted her head.

"Then why?"

He gently kissed her forehead.

"Because I had you taking care of me."

Liliana smiled.

"Then..." She fixed his in-ear monitor one last time. "Go make Paris fall in love with your voice."

Chris laughed softly.

"I already made someone else fall in love with it years ago."

Her cheeks turned pink.

"Chris."

"What?"

"Go."

He smiled.

"Yes, ma’am."

Then, the main vocalist of Pulse walked back onto the stage.

A little weaker than usual.

But stronger where it mattered most.

Because backstage, his wife was waiting for him after every song.
