The fire alarm echoed relentlessly throughout St. Claire Entertainment.
BEEEEEEP!
BEEEEEEP!
BEEEEEEP!
For a split second, everyone thought it was another drill.
Then the smell of smoke reached the modeling department.
The instructors immediately reacted.
"Everyone remain calm!"
"Leave your belongings!"
"Proceed to the nearest emergency exit!"
The entire floor erupted into controlled chaos. Models hurried toward the exits. The employees guided visitors outside.
Security officers spread across every hallway, making sure no one was left behind.
The company’s emergency response team immediately activated evacuation procedures.
Several floors below, Matthew St. Claire looked up from the security monitor.
"What happened?"
A security officer rushed inside.
"Chairman! A fire was reported on the second floor."
Matthew immediately stood.
"How big?"
"Very small, sir. But the fire alarm activated automatically."
Robin’s expression changed.
"Where exactly?"
"The storage room beside the modeling department."
Chris froze.
The modeling department.
Liliana.
Without another word, he ran.
Meanwhile, inside the modeling department, people continued pouring into the emergency stairwell.
Liliana tried to follow them..She really did. But Carl’s words refused to leave her mind.
"The idol and the model... A former housewife..."
"For five years."
"Everyone will eventually find out."
Her breathing became uneven..Her heartbeat accelerated. The hallway around her suddenly felt distant. The voices blurred together.
Smoke wasn’t filling the corridor. The fire was still contained. Yet panic gripped her chest.
She couldn’t think. She couldn’t breathe properly.
Her vision blurred.
"Liliana!"
Someone called her name. She couldn’t tell who.
She took another step. Then another.
The floor beneath her suddenly felt unstable. Her knees gave way. And everything went black.
Outside the building, hundreds of employees gathered at the designated evacuation area.
Department managers counted personnel. The security officers checked attendance.
While the firefighters quickly entered the building.
Within minutes, they confirmed the fire had been contained. It had burned only a small storage room. The damage was minimal.
It was so minimal that it was almost intentional.
Chris pushed through the crowd.
"Lily!"
He searched desperately among the employees. Everyone was there.
One by one, familiar faces appeared. Her cousins, Pulse members, Robin. Everyone, but not hers.
His breathing became heavier. Then he spotted Nicolo.
Chris immediately grabbed his shoulder.
"Where’s Liliana?"
Nicolo’s smile disappeared.
"I..." His face turned pale. "I thought she was with everyone."
Chris stared at him.
"You left her?"
"I was called to the chairman’s office! I came back after the alarm!"
"I couldn’t find her!"
For one terrifying second, neither man spoke.
Chris slowly turned toward the building.
"No..."
His voice barely came out.
"No."
Then he ran.
"Chris!" Robin shouted.
But Chris didn’t stop. Neither did Nicolo.
The two sprinted toward the entrance despite security trying to stop them.
"I’m going back inside!"
"The fire is already under control!"
"She’s still in there!"
The firefighters immediately understood.
One of them nodded.
"We’ll search together."
Inside the building, smoke lingered lightly in several hallways.
Emergency lights flashed across the ceiling.
Chris ignored everything.
"Lily!"
His voice echoed throughout the corridor.
"Lily!"
Nothing.
Every empty hallway made his heart pound harder.
His thoughts became chaotic.
Please...
Please be okay...
Please answer me...
He reached the modeling studio. Empty.
Changing rooms. Nothing.
Practice hall. No one was there.
Then, near the emergency exit, he saw someone lying on the floor.
White sweater. Long brown hair.
His world stopped.
"Lily!"
Chris dropped to his knees beside her.
"Lily!"
She didn’t respond. Her face looked pale. Peaceful. In fact, far too peaceful.
Chris gently supported her shoulders. His hands trembled.
"Please..."
He whispered.
"Please wake up."
Nothing. He had faced screaming stadiums, world tours and millions of fans.
None of it frightened him.
But seeing his wife lying unconscious, terrified him more than anything he had ever experienced.
A firefighter immediately knelt beside them.
"Sir."
"We have to move her."
Chris nodded numbly.
He carefully lifted Liliana into his arms. As though she might break. As though letting go would make her disappear.
Outside, everyone watched in stunned silence as Chris emerged carrying Liliana.
Emily covered her mouth. Nicole burst into tears. Rose clung tightly to Mary.
Amanda’s face turned pale.
Matthew immediately walked toward them.
"Ambulance."
"It’ll be here in less than a minute."
Chris never took his eyes off Liliana.
Not once.
The ambulance doors closed.
Chris climbed inside without hesitation. Nicolo followed. While Robin remained outside coordinating with security.
The sirens echoed through the city.
Inside the ambulance, a paramedic checked Liliana’s vital signs.
"Her pulse is stable."
"Breathing is normal."
Chris finally managed to breathe. Just a little. He gently held her hand throughout the ride. Never letting go.
Back at St. Claire Entertainment, Matthew, Victor Reyes and Sarah Clifford entered the security control room.
Every available CCTV recording had already been collected and dozens of screens surrounded them.
Sarah immediately took control.
"Replay the modeling department."
The footage appeared. Everyone watched carefully.
It showed Nicolo leaving after receiving the message.
Then Carl approached Liliana as soon as Nicolo left.
The fire alarm echoed. And then the evacuation.
Sarah paused the footage.
"There."
She pointed toward another screen.
A man wearing a maintenance uniform entered the storage room carrying a toolbox.
Victor frowned.
"I don’t recognize him."
Robin checked the employee database.
"He isn’t maintenance."
The footage continued. The man disappeared inside the storage room.
Thirty seconds later, smoke began rising beneath the door.
Then, the fire alarm activated.
Sarah’s expression hardened. "It was planned."
Victor nodded slowly. "It wasn’t an accident."
Matthew folded his arms. "What about Carl?"
Another camera appeared.
Carl calmly walked away before the alarm sounded.
No panic. No confusion.
As though, he already knew what was about to happen.
Then another camera revealed something even worse. Carl briefly nodded toward the fake maintenance worker while passing the hallway.
The exchange lasted less than two seconds. But it was enough.
The room became silent.
Victor slowly exhaled. "He wasn’t acting alone."
"No." Sarah replied quietly. "This wasn’t the work of one stalker."
She looked toward Matthew. "I think the company has been compromised."
Matthew’s face darkened.
Immediately, he issued an order.
"Effective immediately..."
He looked around the room.
"Every employee, every trainee, every contractor, every supplier and temporary workers will all undergo a complete background investigation."
Robin quickly began writing.
Matthew continued.
"I don’t care how long it takes. I don’t care how much it costs."
His voice became cold. "Start from the beginning. No exceptions."
Sarah closed the laptop.
"For the first time..."
She looked toward Victor.
"We’re no longer hunting one man."
Victor nodded.
"We’re hunting two. Or worse, more."
And somewhere beyond the reach of the security cameras, someone smiled.
Because the fire had never been meant to hurt the building. It had only one purpose.
To prove one terrifying message.
They could reach Liliana anytime they wanted.
