The moment Chris and Liliana finished answering the last question, the internet erupted.

Every social media platform crashed under the overwhelming surge of activity.

Clips from the press conference spread like wildfire. Hashtags climbed to the top of worldwide trends within minutes.

Fans who had expected another celebrity scandal found themselves watching something entirely different.

Instead of rumors and accusations, they had witnessed two people speaking honestly about five years of unwavering trust, sacrifice, and quiet support.

Some laughed.

Many cried.

Others replayed the conference from the beginning, convinced they had missed something.

Even so, one question continued to dominate every discussion.

Who exactly was Carl De Vera?

Inside the conference hall, another reporter quickly stood.

"Chairman Matthew."

Matthew looked toward her.

"Go ahead."

The reporter adjusted her microphone before asking the question that had been circulating online since Liliana’s testimony.

"Based on everything you’ve discovered... is it possible Mr. Carl De Vera targeted Miss Liliana because he believed there was something more between her and Mr. Chris St. Claire?"

The conference hall fell silent once again.

Every camera immediately shifted toward Matthew.

Even Chris unconsciously tightened his grip beneath the table.

Matthew remained composed.

He folded his hands together before answering.

"That is one of the possibilities currently being considered."

A murmur spread throughout the room.

"Our investigators have carefully reviewed Mr. De Vera’s behavior over the past several months."

Behind him, the giant screen displayed several surveillance photographs.

Carl watching Liliana from a distance.

Carl volunteering whenever she needed assistance.

Carl appearing near locations she frequently visited.

Carl studying Chris during company events.

Matthew continued calmly.

"The evidence suggests that Mr. De Vera developed an unhealthy fixation on Miss Sterling."

He paused, choosing his next words carefully.

"This was not ordinary admiration."

"It was obsessive."

Another slide appeared.

Carl wearing clothing nearly identical to Chris’s.

The same hairstyle.

The same accessories.

Even the same posture.

Matthew continued.

"He attempted to imitate Mr. St. Claire in almost every observable way."

"He altered his appearance."

"He copied his mannerisms."

"He even learned Miss Sterling’s personal preferences."

The room grew increasingly uneasy.

Sarah Clifford leaned toward her microphone.

"Mr. De Vera knew Miss Sterling’s favorite drink despite never being told."

"He addressed her using the nickname ’Lily,’ a name reserved for people closest to her."

"He repeatedly inserted himself into situations where he could interact with her."

She looked directly at the reporters.

"These behaviors are consistent with obsessive stalking."

A ripple of discomfort swept across the audience.

Matthew nodded.

"Our current theory is that after discovering the close relationship between Mr. St. Claire and Miss Sterling, Carl believed he had found something he could exploit."

He glanced briefly toward Liliana.

"He may have intended to use that information as leverage."

Another reporter immediately raised his hand.

"You mean blackmail?"

Matthew did not answer immediately.

"We cannot confirm that at this stage."

He paused.

"However..."

"If an individual believes they possess information capable of manipulating another person, there is a real possibility that they may attempt to use it for personal gain."

Victor Reyes continued where Matthew left off.

"Based on our investigation, we believe Carl’s behavior toward Miss Sterling became increasingly possessive."

"He repeatedly attempted to isolate her."

"He monitored her movements."

"He positioned himself wherever she happened to be."

Victor’s expression hardened.

"It is entirely possible that he intended to pressure Miss Sterling into remaining close to him..."

He allowed the implication to settle over the room.

"...or even force a personal relationship by threatening to reveal what he believed was her secret."

A wave of horrified gasps echoed throughout the conference hall.

Many reporters instinctively looked toward Liliana.

She remained composed, but Chris could feel her fingers trembling beneath the table.

Without drawing attention, he quietly covered her hand with his own.

His silent reassurance steadied her.

Another reporter stood.

"Chairman Matthew..."

"What is St. Claire Entertainment’s next step?"

"How do you intend to find Carl De Vera?"

Matthew’s expression grew resolute.

"We are no longer treating this as an internal company matter."

His words carried unmistakable authority.

"Mr. Carl De Vera is now the subject of a coordinated investigation involving law enforcement, private investigators, cybersecurity specialists, and international partners."

The giant screen changed once again.

Carl’s employee profile disappeared.

In its place appeared a single sentence.

IDENTITY: FRAUDULENT

Matthew continued.

"We have confirmed that Carl De Vera does not legally exist."

A stunned silence swept through the hall.

"The identity used to enter our company was built using forged documents, fabricated employment records, and falsified educational credentials."

Sarah spoke next.

"Every address associated with him led to dead ends."

"The references listed on his application were either fictitious or impersonated."

"The digital records supporting his identity had been deliberately manufactured."

Robin added,

"This required planning, technical expertise, and considerable resources."

He looked toward the cameras.

"This was not the work of one man acting on impulse."

Victor nodded.

"We believe Carl was receiving assistance."

The reporters immediately erupted with questions.

"An organization?"

"Does he have accomplices?"

"Is St. Claire Entertainment under attack?"

Matthew raised his hand, and silence gradually returned.

"We cannot disclose every detail of the ongoing investigation."

His gaze swept across the room.

"But I can promise you this."

His voice became firm.

"We will find Carl."

"He endangered innocent lives."

"He infiltrated this company."

"He threatened one of our own."

Matthew’s eyes hardened with determination.

"And whether he is hiding in this country..."

"...or somewhere on the other side of the world..."

"We will not stop looking until he is brought to justice."

The conference hall erupted into applause.

For the first time since the fire, the public no longer saw St. Claire Entertainment as a company struggling to contain a scandal.

They saw a family refusing to abandon one of their own.

And somewhere beyond the cameras, hidden from the eyes of the nation...

A man watching the livestream slowly smiled.

Carl De Vera leaned back in his chair, his blue contact lenses resting on the table beside him.

His blond wig had already been discarded.

On the screen before him, Chris was still holding Liliana’s hand beneath the conference table.

Carl’s smile slowly disappeared.

"They’re getting closer," he murmured.

A shadow stepped out from the darkness behind him.

"What now?"

Carl’s eyes never left the screen.

"They still don’t know who I really am."

His lips curved into a chilling smile.

"And that’s exactly why..."

"...I’m still winning."
