The argument left behind more than hurt feelings.

It created silence.

Not the peaceful silence Chris and Liliana had shared countless times during their five years together.

This silence was cold.

Heavy.

Painful.

The following morning, the St. Claire delegation continued their schedule as if nothing had happened. Meetings with luxury brands, rehearsals for the charity concert, interviews, and campaign discussions filled every hour.

To outsiders, everything appeared perfectly normal. Only the people closest to them noticed the change.

At breakfast, Chris arrived several minutes after everyone else.

He quietly greeted the table.

"Good morning."

A few people returned the greeting. Liliana simply continued eating. She didn’t even lift her head.

Chris noticed immediately. Usually, she would ask whether he had slept well. She would remind him to drink coffee before it became cold. Sometimes she would even place extra fruit onto his plate without saying a word.

Today, nothing. She acted as though he wasn’t even sitting there.

Chris slowly sat down. The silence between them spread across the entire table.

Nathan awkwardly cleared his throat.

Nicole kept her eyes on her food.

Even Aaron, who usually joked during meals, remained unusually quiet.

"Did we miss something?" Audrey whispered to Emily.

"Why is everyone so awkward?" Helena asked Catherine.

Catherine and Hailey looked so confused.

Emily quietly sighed. It had never been like this before.

Their first fight as husband and wife had changed the atmosphere around everyone.

After breakfast came meetings.

Chris discussed endorsements with Matthew and several executives.

Liliana attended planning sessions for Cartier’s upcoming campaign with Raphael Moretti and the creative team.

Although they occasionally entered the same conference room, neither spoke to the other.

When documents needed to be passed across the table, Emily became the middle person. When lunch arrived, they sat at opposite ends. When rehearsals were discussed, they addressed the coordinator instead of each other.

The distance between them became impossible to ignore.

Leo quietly leaned toward Aaron. "I hate this."

Aaron nodded. "So do I. They’ve never ignored each other before."

Even River, who rarely commented on personal matters, frowned. "The room feels suffocating."

Everyone felt it. No shouting. No insults.

No dramatic scenes. Just... Silence.

And somehow, that silence hurt far more than angry words.

That afternoon, Pulse gathered inside one of Paris’s largest rehearsal studios.

The concert stage had already been constructed, while technicians adjusted lighting, cameras, and sound systems.

Chris stood in front of the mirrors, rehearsing choreography with his members. Despite maintaining his usual professionalism, his concentration repeatedly drifted elsewhere.

He found himself searching the studio without realizing it, looking for Liliana.

She was seated near the production team on the opposite side of the room, reviewing campaign schedules with Emily.

She never looked back.

Chris quietly lowered his eyes.

"Again."

The choreographer clapped.

"From the beginning."

Music echoed through the studio. And the rehearsal continued for nearly an hour before someone entered unexpectedly.

A graceful woman wearing a tailored ivory pantsuit smiled as she stepped inside.

"Good afternoon."

Everyone turned. It was Ruby Grey.

The room became noticeably quieter.

Chris looked surprised. "Miss Grey?"

Ruby smiled warmly. "I hope I’m not interrupting."

"I brought the finalized sketches for your fitting tomorrow."

Matthew, who happened to be speaking with the production staff nearby, nodded politely.

"Perfect timing."

Ruby thanked him before walking toward Chris.

She handed him a leather portfolio.

"I made a few adjustments. I think they’ll suit you better."

Chris accepted it politely. "Thank you."

Nearby, several members of Rhythm quietly watched the interaction.

Liliana remained seated. Her expression didn’t change. She simply continued reading the documents in front of her. At least, that was how it appeared.

Ruby glanced around the rehearsal studio before smiling.

"I suppose everyone already knows about the rumors."

No one answered.

Ruby laughed softly. "I honestly didn’t expect such attention."

She looked directly at Chris.

"But, I can’t really complain."

The room became even quieter.

Chris frowned slightly. "What do you mean?"

Ruby met his eyes without hesitation. "I’ve admired you for years." She smiled openly. "And after meeting you, I realized I’ve fallen in love with you."

Complete silence.

Aaron nearly dropped the water bottle in his hand. Nathan blinked repeatedly. River’s eyes widened. Even Matthew St. Claire looked genuinely surprised.

Leo stared at Ruby. "...You just confessed?"

Ruby nodded confidently. "Why should I hide it? I’ve never believed feelings are something to be ashamed of."

She continued looking at Chris. "I know we’ve only recently met. But I’d like the opportunity to get to know you better."

No one knew what to say.

On the opposite side of the studio, Liliana heard every single word. Her fingers paused above the papers she had been pretending to read.

Emily slowly turned toward her cousin. Liliana’s face remained calm. Almost emotionless. She didn’t interrupt and didn’t react. She simply lowered her eyes again. As though none of it mattered.

Only Emily noticed the slight whitening of Liliana’s knuckles as she gripped the folder a little too tightly.

Chris finally found his voice. "Miss Grey..."

Before he could continue, several photographers invited by the production company entered the rehearsal hall to document preparations for the concert. Camera lenses immediately turned toward Chris and Ruby.

Matthew subtly noticed them. So did Chris.

If he rejected Ruby too harshly now, the headlines would explode again.

CHRIS ST. CLAIRE HUMILIATES FAMOUS DESIGNER IN FRANCE.

If he accepted her feelings, the consequences would be even worse.

For a brief moment, he was trapped.

So Chris chose the safest response.

He offered a polite smile. "I appreciate your honesty."

Ruby smiled brightly. "I expected nothing less from you."

She seemed completely satisfied with his answer.

To everyone else, it sounded respectful and professional.

To Liliana, it sounded like he hadn’t rejected her at all. Something inside her chest tightened.

Emily immediately looked at Chris.

Say something else... Please... She thought.

But Chris couldn’t.

There were too many cameras. Too many executives. Too many reporters. And one careless sentence could create another international scandal.

Ruby happily continued discussing tomorrow’s fitting with Matthew before excusing herself.

As she left the rehearsal studio, she glanced back once. Her eyes lingered on Chris. She smiled then disappeared through the door.

The room remained silent long after she was gone.

Chris instinctively looked toward Liliana. For a split second, their eyes met.

There was no anger. No tears. No accusation. Only distance.

Then Liliana calmly looked away, gathered her documents, and quietly walked out of the rehearsal studio without saying a single word.

Chris watched her leave.

For the first time since their marriage, he realized that silence could wound far more deeply than any confession.

And the silent war between husband and wife had only grown colder.
