My Husband Is An International Idol

Chapter 90: An Unexpected Confession

The elevator incident haunted Chris for the rest of the day.

In every rehearsal, interview and every meeting, his body moved on instinct. But his mind remained trapped inside that elevator.

He could still remember the way Liliana had looked at him.

The way she hadn’t pulled away, the way everything had almost changed until the elevator doors opened.

He kissed her once before. Once. Just once. For five years of their marriage, it happened only once.

Earlier, he wanted to kiss her so badly. It was his chance, but he was too slow. And again, he had let the moment slip away.

Pulse’s rehearsal ended earlier than expected that afternoon.

The members collapsed onto the practice room floor, drenched in sweat after repeating the choreography for nearly six hours.

Their concert in Paris was only a few days away.

Normally, Chris would be the first to joke around after rehearsal.

Today, he simply sat against the mirrored wall, staring blankly at the floor.

Aaron tossed him a bottle of water. "You’ve missed three cues today."

Chris caught it without looking up. "I know."

Leo sat beside him. "You’ve never lost focus before a concert."

River crossed his arms. "Your body is here. Your mind isn’t."

Chris sighed deeply. "I can’t stop thinking about her."

The three members exchanged knowing glances.

Nathan finally spoke. "You’ve apologized."

Chris nodded. More than once."

"And?"

"Nothing changed."

Leo smiled faintly. "That’s because you’re apologizing for the wrong thing."

Chris looked at him. "What do you mean?"

Leo leaned forward. "You’re treating this like you made a simple mistake. But Lily isn’t waiting for another apology."

River quietly continued, "She’s waiting for certainty."

Chris frowned.

Aaron nodded. "Emily already told you. You keep saying sorry. But you’ve never actually told her why you’re fighting so hard."

Chris lowered his eyes. "I..."

Leo didn’t let him finish. "Chris. Do you love her?"

The question required no thought.

"Yes."

"When did you realize it?"

Chris smiled bitterly. "Years ago. From the very beginning. When we were kids."

Aaron laughed softly. "Exactly. So why are you hiding it? It’s fine if the public doesn’t know. But Liliana should know."

Chris remained silent.

River answered for him. "Because he’s afraid."

Chris slowly nodded. "I’m afraid. What if she doesn’t feel the same?"

Leo nearly rolled his eyes. "She publicly rejected two amazing men because she already had someone special."

Aaron chuckled. "And she cried because she thought you might love someone else."

River added calmly, "She’s already given you every answer. You’re the only one who hasn’t spoken."

Chris sat quietly.

Every word echoed inside his mind.

Then Leo stood. "You have two choices. You can keep apologizing."

"Or..."

"You can finally tell your wife that you love her."

Aaron smiled.

"If you don’t..." He paused. "Someone else eventually will."

Chris immediately thought of Raphael then Alexandre. His heart tightened.

Leo patted his shoulder. "It’s now or never."

An hour later, Chris finally made his decision.

He changed into casual clothes before leaving the rehearsal studio.

He searched every hallway. Every conference room. Every lounge.

Finally, a hotel employee pointed toward the main entrance.

"Miss Liliana just went outside."

Chris hurried toward the lobby.

His heartbeat grew louder with every step.

He no longer cared about interviews or the rumors. He no longer cared about headlines.

He only cared about one person.

His wife.

Outside the luxury hotel, reporters had already gathered behind security barriers.

Several tourists stood nearby, hoping to catch a glimpse of Pulse.

Liliana had just stepped through the revolving doors.

She carried a folder against her chest while Emily remained several steps behind, answering a phone call.

Chris spotted her immediately.

"Lily!"

She paused. Then slowly she turned around.

Their eyes met.

Chris took a deep breath. He started walking toward her.

This time, he wouldn’t run away. He wouldn’t hesitate. He wouldn’t let fear decide for him again.

But before he could reach her—

"Chris!"

A cheerful voice suddenly rang through the entrance plaza.

Ruby Grey appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Smiling brightly, she hurried toward him and instinctively slipped her arm around his.

"I’ve been looking everywhere for you!"

The movement happened so quickly that Chris didn’t even have time to react.

Across the entrance, Liliana’s expression subtly changed. Her eyes fell on Ruby’s hand around Chris’s arm.

Ruby noticed Liliana. "Hello, Miss Sterling."

Liliana politely smiled. But Chris knew, that smile wasn’t sincere.

Then without saying a word, she turned to leave.

Chris’s heart nearly stopped. Not again. Never.

"Lily!"

He immediately reached forward. This time, he caught her hand.

The sudden movement caused everyone nearby to freeze.

Liliana stopped walking.

Chris held onto her hand firmly.

Not painfully. But desperately.

The reporters immediately sensed something unusual.

"Cameras!"

"Hurry!"

"Something’s happening!"

Photographers rushed closer.

Within seconds, flashes erupted from every direction.

Chris suddenly found himself standing between two women.

Ruby remained beside him. Her hands wrapped around his arm. While he was holding on to Liliana’s hand.

The entire hotel entrance had fallen completely silent.

Even Emily lowered her phone.

Matthew, Amanda, Aaron, Leo, River, Nathan, Mary, and the others had just exited the lobby.

Every pair of eyes focused on Chris.

Ruby smiled uncertainly. "Chris?"

Chris slowly turned toward her. His expression was gentle. Respectful.

"I’m sorry, Miss Grey."

Ruby blinked.

"I truly appreciate your sincerity. And I’m grateful for your kindness."

He offered her a polite smile. "But I need to make something clear."

The reporters leaned forward.

Chris’s voice remained calm. "The only woman I’ve ever been interested in..."

He tightened his hold on Liliana’s hand.

"...is Liliana."

A collective gasp swept through the crowd.

Ruby stood frozen.

Chris continued. "I never wanted to misunderstand your feelings. I never intended to give you false hope. I respect you. But I can’t accept your confession."

He took a slow breath.

"Because..." He paused. "I’ve loved someone for a very long time."

His eyes never left Liliana.

"And that person..."

"...has always been her."

The world seemed to stop.

Chris smiled softly. "I don’t want there to be any more misunderstandings. I don’t want anyone believing that my silence meant uncertainty. It didn’t. I was simply too afraid."

His voice trembled slightly. "I spent years hiding behind excuses. Behind timing. Behind my career."

He took a deep breath then continued. "I always consider what other people might think. But I can’t do that anymore."

He looked directly into Liliana’s tear-filled eyes.

"Lily..."

"I love you."

"I’ve loved you for years. I want to be with you. It has always been you. And it will always be you."

The plaza became eerily quiet.

Only camera shutters could be heard.

Click.

Click.

Click.

No one moved.

No one spoke.

Emily slowly covered her mouth as tears gathered in her eyes.

Aaron smiled in relief.

Leo quietly laughed. "Finally."

Even Matthew closed his eyes briefly before smiling with unmistakable pride.

Ruby looked at Chris for several long seconds.

Then, she smiled sadly. "I understand."

She bowed politely toward Liliana.

"It seems..."

"I lost before I even had a chance."

Without another word, she quietly stepped back, leaving the two of them standing together.

Chris never released Liliana’s hand.

Not this time. Not in front of cameras. Not in front of the world.

For the first time in five long years, he had chosen her over his fear.

And the entire world had witnessed his unexpected confession.
