My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 370: The Red Sovereign Die [Part 1]

Vlad’s answer was loud and clear.

He would lay down his life if need be, for he would rather die than see the people he loved fight each other to death.

Regardless of the victor, Vlad wouldn’t want to live in that world.

He would rather be dead than experience its outcome.

It wasn’t the answer of someone who blindly swore loyalty without understanding what it meant.

Nor was it the answer of someone who would willingly abandon everything from his past simply out of admiration for a new future.

No.

Vlad’s answer was far more difficult than that.

He had chosen Leone.

Yet, he had also refused to deny the people who had raised him.

And perhaps...

That was exactly why Leone believed that the teenager before him truly deserved to become his vassal.

The young chieftain slowly nodded. "That’s a good answer."

Vlad bit his lip for a few seconds before being able to give his reply.

"...Really?" Vlad asked. "Was that answer good enough for you, Great Chieftain?"

"Yes," Leone replied. "Do not worry, Vlad. The day when the Warclaw Tribe and the Aslan Tribe war with each other will never come. I will never let it happen."

A look of relief flashed on the teenage boy’s face, and soon, his eyes moistened a bit. He felt like crying at that moment, but he knew that if he did, then people might think of him as a child once again.

So, he held it in and looked at Leone with his blurry vision.

And within that cavern, Leone’s voice reached his ears, making him feel like he had made the right decision by pledging his allegiance to him.

"Then let me ask you once more," Leone said with a smile. "Do you swear to devote your strength, your wisdom, and your very life to the dream we shall build together?"

Vlad took a deep breath.

This time, his answer came without hesitation.

"I swear."

And he didn’t stop there.

"I know that I am still young."

"I know that there are many things that I have yet to learn. There are people stronger than me, wiser than me, and far more experienced than me."

"But I don’t intend to remain behind forever."

Vlad smiled at those words, his expression now free of the worry that he felt earlier. He was like a new man who had finally discovered what was truly important to him.

"I will grow stronger," Vlad declared. "Even if I make mistakes, I will learn and rise again. And no matter how difficult the path becomes, I will continue moving forward until I become someone worthy of standing beside you."

Leone smiled as he lifted the sword off the teenager’s shoulder. "No matter what anyone says, to me, you are already worthy, Vlad. That will never change. Not now, not tomorrow, and not forever."

The young chieftain then held the sword firmly in his hand as he called out the name of his new vassal.

"Rise, Vlad of Aslan," Leone said in a tone filled with reverence. "Until the day when we no longer need to hide your identity... Until the day when you can stand proudly by my side without fear...

"You will continue to stand as my vassal, not beneath me, but beside me. Not as one who serves out of obligation, but as one who has chosen this path with his own will."

The banner of the Aslan Tribe then suddenly appeared behind Leone, bathing Vlad in a radiant light.

Leone’s vassals had always gained a special boost in their overall abilities once they completed the ceremony of vassalship.

Even Vlad wasn’t exempted from that rule.

In fact, Leone was already looking forward to what kind of abilities Vlad would gain after he had consolidated his newfound powers.

While that was happening, the warriors of the Aslan Tribe, including Runa and Porkchop, looked at the radiant light that enveloped Vlad with reverence.

They knew that once he emerged from that golden glow, he would never be the same again.

Suddenly, and without warning, the ray of light that wrapped around Vlad’s body intensified.

At that moment, it glowed so brightly that many people were forced to shield their eyes.

Daedalus, on the other hand, was pleasantly surprised by this development.

Even Leone suddenly realized what was happening.

A Sovereign Die had manifested before him!

This only meant one thing.

Vlad’s honesty, sacrifice, and determination were recognized by a higher power.

If Leone hadn’t asked him that difficult question during the vassalship ceremony, shaking his entire being and making him question whether pledging his everything to Leone was truly worth it, the Die of Sovereigns might not have appeared.

"You already know what to do, right?" Daedalus asked.

"Yes," Leone replied. "But why is the color red instead of gold like last time?"

"This is a different kind of Sovereign Die," Daedalus answered. "The golden die you summoned for Brann was straightforward. Whatever number you rolled became the foundation of his power. Roll a six, and all of his stat parameters would go up by six hundred points."

Daedalus paused as he looked at the red die floating before Leone.

"On the other hand, this one doesn’t grant its power equally," Daedalus added.

Leone narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"

"It means that this die favors specialization over balance," Daedalus explained. "Whatever number you roll, two of Vlad’s stat parameters will receive twice that amount while the rest will only receive half."

At those words, the young man glanced at the red die once more. He vaguely understood the grimoire’s explanation, but he wanted to be sure that he got it right before he rolled the die.

"For example?" Leone inquired.

"If you roll a four, then two of Vlad’s stat parameters will receive eight hundred points each," Daedalus replied. "As for his remaining stats, he will only receive two hundred points."

The grimoire’s voice grew more serious, making sure that Leone understood the consequences after rolling the die.

"The golden Sovereign Die creates a balanced vassal," Daedalus stated. "But this one... will bestow someone with two extraordinary stat parameters. In other words, Leone, you should pray that the two stats it chooses to empower are useful."

With that, Leone finally understood that this red Sovereign Die was bonkers.

Nevertheless, it held great possibilities. The only problem was that the two stat parameters that would receive double the value were completely random.

"Well then. Time to take a leap of faith," Leone said before tossing the die.

He then watched as it bounced a few times before rolling on the ground. When it finally came to a stop, Leone and Daedalus almost sucked in a deep breath.

The result of the die roll was something neither of them expected.
