My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 372: New Roles, New Beginnings

Vlad slept soundly in one of the vacant houses inside the cavern.

His infiltration mission, immediately followed by his vassalship ceremony, had thoroughly depleted his energy.

Half an hour after Daedalus had finished his introduction, the young man began to feel sleepy, so Leone invited him to stay for the night.

With that, Blitz decided to sleep beside the teenager, while Runa took Porkchop back to the Hidden Valley.

Leone and Aria returned to their home, and soon, the Aslan Tribe settled into the quiet of the night. The excitement kept others awake for a little while longer, chatting merrily about the great future of their tribe.

When morning came, Vlad woke up to an unfamiliar ceiling. Memories of what happened the night before started to flow inside his mind, calming his heart.

At first, he thought that everything he saw in his memories was just a dream. However, the moment he clenched his fists, he felt his newfound power surge inside his body once more.

Realizing this, a smile appeared on the teenager’s lips before he became aware that Blitz was sleeping peacefully on the pillow right beside his own.

Blitz had played a significant role in Vlad’s success in clearing his mission, so he was very thankful to the flying squirrel.

With this in mind, he carefully left the bed, making sure that he didn’t disturb the little one’s sleep.

He then walked toward the table and poured himself a cup of water. After that, he left the house so that he could return to the villa where his sister Natalia was waiting for him.

Since she had encouraged him to do his best, it was only natural for him to tell her everything that happened.

Of course, he planned to keep this a secret from everyone else, including his beloved sister, Tianna.

Though if he knew that Natalia and her real sister were actually the one and the same, Vlad might have acted differently during his stay in the Aslan Tribe.

Everyone he met along the way greeted him with smiles on their faces.

They had been briefed that Vlad’s vassalship should be kept as a well-guarded secret until the day the teenage boy could tell his family about his decision.

When he left the cave, he climbed up the mountain and arrived at the first floor where the special guests stayed.

He didn’t hesitate and knocked on the door where Natalia was staying.

A few seconds later, the door opened. However, before Vlad could even say anything, the young lady pulled him close to a tight hug, holding him firmly with both hands.

"Congratulations, Vlad," Tianna said. "You did well."

"Thank you, sister," Vlad replied, returning the hug.

They stayed like that for nearly a minute before Natalia asked him to come in.

"Wait for a while," Natalia said. "I’ll make some breakfast for us."

"Okay." Vlad smiled as he watched the young lady head to the kitchen to do what she needed to do.

While he was waiting for breakfast, Vlad recalled the words Leone had told him before he went to sleep.

"Vlad, I need your help facing off the Britannian Army a month from now," Leone said in a serious tone. "If you agree, you will not be able to go to the Tribal Gathering in Eden. As an excuse, I will ask Kael, Jason, and Ulric to tell your father that you’ve decided to stay in the Aslan Tribe for a little longer."

Since this battle was meant to protect the Borderlands from an invasion coming from the north, Vlad readily agreed to Leone’s request.

He was even happy that his Liege Lord needed his help. His appointment was recent, yet Leone was already treating him as an important member of his inner circle.

’I wonder, though. What kind of ability will Brent get after becoming Leone’s vassal?’ Vlad mused.

The funny thing was that Vlad didn’t really know just how strong he was.

In fact, his current stats made him far stronger than the elite warriors in the Borderlands.

Having seen his incredible Dexterity stat, Leone even planned to have Vlad learn how to use the bow and the dagger.

He might still be young, but that fact would only allow him to take his enemies by surprise.

The two stats that were boosted by the Red Sovereign Die were Dexterity and Intelligence.

High Intelligence gave Vlad more mana, allowing him to activate the power of his Dreamweaver’s Brush repeatedly.

On the other hand, high Dexterity boosted his ability to become more proficient with almost any weapon that required finesse and technique rather than brute strength.

This also allowed him to paint faster, allowing him to manifest his creation in the fastest time possible even in the midst of a battle.

Daedalus had shown Vlad his Status Page. Though, in the teenage boy’s eyes, those were nothing but numbers. It was more interesting to look at the information on his skills.

The descriptions gave him a better understanding of what he was capable of, making him very excited about his future.

’It’s quite unfortunate that my strength hadn’t been the one doubled,’ Vlad mused. ’I wonder what kind of reaction my brothers will have if they suddenly see me lift a boulder with one hand.’

Of course, the teenager was still unaware that he had already surpassed his brothers’ strength in battle. In fact, if any of his brothers would challenge Vlad to a duel, his first blow might even break their bones!

That was how strong he had gotten after becoming Leone’s vassal.

While he was still fantasizing about being treated like an adult by his family and the Warclaw Tribe, Tianna returned to the table holding a tray filled with food.

The meal she prepared was very simple.

It was scrambled eggs with herbs and tomatoes, accompanied by freshly baked bread that was delivered to her earlier by one of the ladies of the Aslan Tribe.

Tianna also took a few small jars of fruit jams from the pantry and placed them on the table.

Vlad had a sweet tooth and always ate his bread with jams.

Tianna then pressed her hands together in prayer and said "Grace" to honor the food in front of her.

Vlad did the same, and then the two finally ate together.

"This scrambled egg is well-made," Vlad praised. "It’s delicious, sister."

"Really?" Tianna grinned.

"Yes."

"Eat a lot. There’s more if you want seconds."

"Okay!"

Inside Grimjaw Mountain...

While Vlad and Natalia were happily eating together, Leone finally woke up from his sleep.

He had a good dream. Yet, for some reason, he couldn’t remember what it was.

The image of the lady that had been with him in his slumber slowly vanished from his memory.

No matter how much Leone tried to prevent it from happening, it was futile.

In the end, he had no choice but to sigh internally. Once again, that sweet dream escaped his grasp.

’There will be more opportunities,’ Leone thought.

After all, this wasn’t the first time that he had that kind of dream.

Specifically, a dream he couldn’t remember after waking up. Even so, he sincerely believed that the lady he saw in that dream was always the same person.

It was then that he heard the soft mumbling sound of the lady by his side.

"Mhng..."

Aria stirred from Leone’s embrace, which made him think that she was about to wake up. But soon, her breathing once again became steady, and her faint sleeping breaths reached his ears.

Compared to Yuni, Aria’s body was more delicate and softer than that of his warrior lover.

Even so, Leone loved holding this delicate lady, who had now grown closer to him.

Last night, after Vlad finished his vassalship, Aria spoke to him as they lay on the bed together.

"Leone, I want to be more useful to you," Aria said to him. "If possible, I want to do something that will also help the Aslan Tribe as a whole."

After thinking long and hard about it, Leone suddenly got an idea.

They now had a temple. Two temples, in fact.

One of them was the Temple of the Earth Goddess that was located in the city at the base of the mountain.

The second one was the Forgotten Temple that was inside the mountain.

And yet, these two temples had yet to appoint a priest or priestess to manage them closely.

With that in mind, Leone believed that Aria was the perfect girl for the position of High Priestess.

After all, she had always been kind, lovely, and caring.

He knew that better than anyone. Those traits benefited him more than anyone, for she had never failed to take care of his needs.

In fact, she was more proactive than Yuni, allowing Leone to sleep more soundly at night whenever it was Aria’s turn to sleep by his side.

Now that he had made a decision, he decided to make Aria the High Priestess who oversaw the Forgotten Temple.

Since this temple worshipped the Trinity of the Aslan Tribe, namely the Earth Mother, Eostre, and the Goddess of Light, Aine, not having a priestess might offend these three deities.

With his mind made up, Leone pulled the sleeping beauty to him closer and planted a kiss on her forehead before closing his eyes.

He hoped that, even for a brief moment, he would see that lady in his dreams again who loved to hold him in an embrace, just like what he was doing to Aria right now.
