My Kingdom Building Done Right!

Chapter 378: Lord Azar’s Conditions

Inside Leone’s home within Grimjaw Mountain...

"I can agree to your request, but with some conditions attached," Lord Azar said.

Earlier, Leone had shared his plan to ask the Helion Family, which was based in the Radiant Empire, for help in facing off against the Britannian Army.

To Leone’s gratitude, the dragon wasn’t narrow-minded and understood that the Borderlands truly needed the help for this unprecedented danger.

If they were only facing one opponent, asking for assistance wouldn’t have been necessary.

But against two?

The challenge was beyond difficult.

Sure, the barbarians might hold out for half a year when besieged by two major powers.

However, defeat would be inevitable.

There was simply no way to overturn the outcome. Facts remained that what awaited them at the end of the gruesome battle was either death or slavery.

That being so, Lord Azar would rather agree to Leone’s proposal than see the Borderlands fall into the hands of either the Kingdom of Britannia or the Aurelion Empire.

"And those conditions are?" Leone inquired.

"I will allow only up to six people to cross over from the Helion Family," Lord Azar stated. "So only choose absolute powerhouses."

There were unique individuals out there who had the power to turn the tides of war in their favor when mobilized properly.

The perfect example of this was Otto.

Even when alone, he could kill hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of soldiers a day simply by sniping them from a safe distance.

Another one was Gundar.

His mere existence served as a deterrent.

Once he unleashed his true strength, even the Monster King that had once tried to conquer the Borderlands would find itself pushed into a corner.

Hassan was another example. If they were only dealing with an army that specialized in pure physical attacks, he could perfectly counter them.

Physical weapons posed no threat to the assassin. Only those imbued with magic or spiritual powers could really harm him.

If the Helion Family could bring more of such specialists into the battle, they might be able to control the flow of war to their favor.

"Six people," Leone muttered. "Is this the limit, Lord Azar?"

"Yes," Lord Azar answered without hesitation. "No more than six."

"Understood." Leone nodded. "I accept the condition. With that out of the way, can you please accompany me to your original Dragon Nest so I can talk to my grandfather and great grandfather about this matter?"

Truth be told, Leone had already formed another plan with the Helion Family. The fewer people who knew about it, the less he had to worry about information leaks.

However, he had no intention of telling Lord Azar about this lest he change his mind about allowing the Helion Family’s elites to cross over to the Borderlands.

"Very well." Lord Azar smiled faintly in return.

The two then headed to the Forgotten Temple, where they activated the portal leading to the Helion Family’s territory.

Inside the Helion Family residence...

Andreas was currently having an important talk with his father, Lugh.

Their discussion was about the plan that Leone had proposed to them, which they found quite daring.

Suddenly, they sensed a magical fluctuation that informed them that someone had entered the Dragon’s Nest.

"That must be Leone," Lugh said.

"He must have something to tell us." Andreas clicked his tongue in response. "I swear. Helen had spoiled her son rotten."

Lugh chuckled as he followed his son to the secret passage leading to the treasury of the Helion Family.

Several minutes later, they arrived at the entrance of the cave, only to see Leone and a middle-aged man ‌waiting for them.

The moment Lugh and Lord Azar laid eyes on each other, the two immediately understood that they were looking at someone very powerful.

In fact, although the dragon looked calm on the surface, deep inside, he was quite startled.

Beads of sweat were even starting to form on his forehead as Leone’s great grandfather walked closer toward them.

Soon, an invisible pressure descended upon Lord Azar, bearing down on him with the weight of a mountain.

Of course, there was only one reason why a Dragon like him would instinctively feel such overwhelming pressure.

The man standing before him was a Dragon Slayer.

And judging by the aura Lugh exuded, he hadn’t slain ordinary Dragons.

He must have killed Elder Dragons.

Perhaps even Ancient Dragons.

Lord Azar was an Elder Dragon himself. However, his instincts were telling him that if he and the man before him fought, he would have no chance of winning.

None at all.

"So you’re back, my no-good grandson," Andreas greeted Leone. "Tell me. Why did you visit unannounced like you always do?"

"Hello, no-good Grandpa," Leone returned Andreas’ greeting with a smile. "I came here with Lord Azar. He is the original owner of this Dragon Nest, and I have a proposal to make with the Helion Family."

As soon as the word "owner" reached their ears, Andreas and Lugh immediately paid extra attention to the middle-aged man.

"It is an honor to meet you, Lord Azar." Andreas bowed respectfully towards the Dragon in human form.

Lord Azar gave Andreas a brief nod of acknowledgement before crossing his arms over his chest.

He had to keep calm during this situation, so he decided to let Leone do most of the talking.

"I asked Lord Azar to give Helion Family access to the cave so they could get the treasures inside," Leone stated. "He agreed to my request, which is one of the reasons why we came here to talk today."

The Helion Family had faced many hardships in the past thanks to the formidable magical formation that protected the nest.

But now that the possibility of gaining access to it was presented to them, Andreas couldn’t hide the relief on his face.

"Really?" Andreas asked. "If that’s the case, then we will be forever grateful to you, Lord Azar."

"You don’t have to thank me," Lord Azar replied. "I already gave Leone ownership over the Dragon’s Nest. He can do whatever he wants with the treasures inside it."

At those words, Andreas looked at his no-good grandson and decided to be a little nicer to him from this moment onward.

"There is one more thing that I wish to discuss," Leone said. "Actually, this is the real reason why I asked Lord Azar to accompany me today. I think I will need the help of the Helion Family in the upcoming war against the Britannian Army."

"What kind of help do you need?" Andreas was in a very good mood, so he didn’t mind giving his no-good grandson a bit of help.

"I will need strong people who will help me fight against the Britannian Army," Leone replied. "Lord Azar agreed to let six people cross over to the Borderlands. If possible, please give me specialists who could help deter or push the enemy forces back."

Andreas glanced at his father in response, who currently seemed to be deep in thought.

"Six people are doable," Lugh replied after a while. "And you want specialists, right?"

"Yes, Great Grandpa," Leone answered. "The strongest, if possible!"

Lugh couldn’t help but laugh after hearing his great grandson’s request. He liked Leone’s boldness and shamelessness.

Since they were family, he didn’t mind giving him some help. Though now that he was asking for manpower, the Helion Family would need to adjust their personnel lineup to accommodate Leone’s request.

"When do you need them?" Lugh asked.

"Two weeks from now," Leone answered.

By then, Malik, Tianna, Elias, and the other warriors that belonged to the other tribes would travel with his body double to Eden.

This would allow Leone to receive his reinforcements from the Helion Family without anyone knowing.

"Very well. Come back in two weeks." Lugh nodded in agreement. "I’ll personally pick out the people who will assist you."

"Thank you, Great Grandfather!" Leone said gratefully. "You’re the best!"

Lugh and Andreas glanced at each other.

If they were able to play their cards right, they would be able to deal great damage to the Kingdom of Britannia, which had been coveting the lands of the Helion Family for a very long time.

It was now time for them to make this greedy kingdom understand that they shouldn’t bite off more than they could chew.

After doing a bit more small talk, Leone and Lord Azar finally returned to Grimjaw Mountain.

The moment they returned to the Forgotten Temple, the Dragon was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.

Being in the presence of Lugh wasn’t easy. But he still had to keep his dignity intact, so he endured it.

Still, after personally witnessing the strength of Leone’s great grandfather, Lord Azar finally understood why the young chieftain had been so confident in asking the Helion Family for help.

The Borderlands might be facing two powerful enemies, but perhaps the situation wasn’t as hopeless as he originally thought it was.

He then glanced at Leone, who was walking beside him with a calm expression on his face.

’Perhaps this boy truly has a chance of changing the fate of the Borderlands,’ Lord Azar thought. ’I just hope he will change it for the better.’

Knowing Leone’s personality, Lord Azar believed that the changes would be a good thing.

He just hoped that when the young man truly became the king of a great kingdom, his personality wouldn’t change.

He had seen many people, good people, who changed after gaining access to power, authority, wealth, and influence beyond their wildest dreams.

Yet, even after gaining more, their greed only grew larger.

Their appetite became bottomless, and soon... they became the very existences that they once hated in the past.

And Lord Azar couldn’t help but wonder if Leone would walk down the same path once he finally obtained everything he desired.

For now, however, the young chieftain was still walking the path he had chosen.

A path where he cared about his people and those working with him to build the kingdom of his dreams.
