My Magic Has No Upper Limit

Chapter 254 - 253: The Six Gods

Chapter 254: Chapter 253: The Six Gods

"Oh?"

Zelir’s eyebrow twitched slightly as he looked at the two numbers that had just jumped.

’To think that even after how exhausted I was yesterday, Heart Sleep still managed to give me a boost...’

It had been almost a week since he learned Heart Sleep, and it had already increased his Spirit and Intelligence by two points each, for a total of four Attribute points.

That was equivalent to leveling up.

As a supplementary method for improvement, the efficiency was quite good.

Zelir opened his door, ready to get something to eat, but he was surprised to find a server standing outside.

Seeing the door open, the server showed no sign of impatience from waiting. Instead, he immediately bowed respectfully.

"Good morning, Mr. Zelir. Is there anything you need?"

Zelir paused for a moment, then realized what was happening.

Although this inn was high-end, it wasn’t so luxurious as to provide a personal attendant service right outside one’s door.

Clearly, Instructor Manlin had paid extra to arrange this, worried he might face some inconvenience upon waking up.

He was absolutely starving.

So, Zelir ordered breakfast for two and hot water for washing up before returning to his room.

Before long, a steaming wooden tub was carried into the private washroom of his guest suite, and breakfast was laid out on the table.

Zelir sank his entire body into the perfectly warm water and let out a long, contented sigh.

The warm water flowed over his shoulders, washing away the bloody stench of the previous day.

After washing up and changing into a set of clean clothes, Zelir began to enjoy his breakfast.

There was crispy fried bacon, a large portion of buttered bread, and a creamy mushroom soup.

Zelir polished it all off in no time.

"Hah..."

He let out a long breath. "I finally feel alive again."

A sudden "KNOCK KNOCK" came from the door, followed by Instructor Manlin’s familiar voice.

"Zelir, may I come in?"

"Of course, please come in, Instructor Manlin," Zelir quickly replied.

The door was gently pushed open.

Manlin was in a casual long dress today, with a light-colored wool shawl draped over her shoulders, giving her a very approachable look.

Seeing Zelir looking refreshed and full of spirit after cleaning up, the worry in Instructor Manlin’s eyes finally melted into a gentle smile.

"Feeling better?"

"Much better, Instructor Manlin. Thank you for taking care of me," Zelir said.

"Instructor Marvin and I personally went to the Underground Tomb yesterday to survey the scene."

Manlin casually sat in the chair opposite Zelir.

"How should I put it... It was impressive."

When Manlin and Marvin first arrived at the Underground Tomb, they thought they had gone to the wrong place.

The huge hole blasted into the rock face, the completely collapsed wall, and the signs of a bloody battle everywhere...

It was truly hard to believe that Zelir’s team had walked into such an ambush and still managed to escape alive.

"I need to understand some of the details of the battle. It will help with the follow-up investigation by the Church personnel."

After confirming that Zelir was all right, Manlin took out a pen and a small notebook, looking ready to take notes.

"Don’t worry about holding back. In yesterday’s incident, was there anything you found unusual or worth mentioning?"

"Yes..."

Zelir frowned in thought, his memory pulling him back to that dark, oppressive underground space. "First, there was the array on the ground."

"Mm, I saw that during my investigation. What kind of effect did the array have?" Instructor Manlin asked.

"After the array activated, it first generated a dark red field around us that prevented us from escaping."

Zelir recalled.

"Then, everyone was hit with a spiritual assault, and I heard a prayer echoing in my mind."

"A prayer?"

Instructor Manlin’s gaze sharpened slightly. "Do you still remember it?"

"I do."

Zelir nodded. He had even heard the prayer repeated several times in his dreams last night; he couldn’t forget it even if he tried.

Zelir recited it word for word.

’Besides, the other team members heard it too.’

However, Zelir didn’t mention the vision that had appeared to him afterward.

"The ancient and tyrannical Old Master..."

After writing it down, Manlin’s expression grew solemn.

"Instructor Manlin, does this prayer ring a bell?" Zelir asked tentatively.

"No, but it sounds incredibly sinister,"

Instructor Manlin said.

"I’ve encountered a cult incident before where someone was also sacrificed, but it ended up going nowhere. We couldn’t catch the cultists."

"An incident like this, where the cultists’ plot was exposed and they left behind so many traces, is a very precious source of clues."

"Oh..."

Zelir nodded slightly. "So what does the Church have to say?"

"The people from the Church haven’t arrived yet, so we have to send our own people to investigate first. We’ll hand it over to them when they get here," Instructor Manlin stated.

"Speaking of which..."

Zelir felt a little confused.

"From my hometown all the way to Black Stone Town, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single church, nor have I seen any clergy. Are they... really a religious power?"

’In Zelir’s mind, regardless of the Otherworld, shouldn’t religious organizations be the ones most enthusiastic about building huge buildings, enclosing land, collecting tithes, and recruiting people on every street corner?’

"It’s normal for you to think that, because the Church generally doesn’t build branches in outlying areas."

Instructor Manlin smiled lightly. "Their branches are even rarer than the Mage’s Guild’s. They only have churches in some of the major cities."

"Why?"

Zelir didn’t understand.

"Don’t the clergy proselytize and preach? Wouldn’t it be beneficial for them to get more people to believe?"

"Perhaps they just don’t have those kinds of worldly desires,"

Instructor Manlin said.

"The clergy I’ve met are all very easygoing and steady. Unless a mission requires it, they almost never make public appearances."

"But their presence is very well-established. They came into being at roughly the same time as the major kingdoms and have persisted to this day."

"It’s not just you. There are many people who have never left their villages their whole lives. They don’t even know the Church exists, let alone the names of the Six Gods."

"To be honest, Instructor Manlin, I don’t know who the Six Gods are either..." Zelir scratched his head.

’The original owner of this body had stayed in his village until he was sixteen.’

He had never traveled, so it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call him a country bumpkin.

Even after coming to Black Stone Town, there was no Church presence here, so there was no way for him to learn about the Six Gods.

"Heh..."

Manlin chuckled softly and then began to explain.

"You should commit this to memory. It’ll be useful for you later. This is essential knowledge for confronting cult factions."

"The Six Gods currently officially recognized on the Candia Continent are:

The God of Love.

The God of Judgment and Justice.

The God of War and Courage.

The God of Nature and Fertility.

The God of Wisdom and Craftsmanship.

The God of Destiny and Hope."
