A strange, vibrating force traveled up the saber’s blade. Liang Cheng, relying on the Hard Skills of his Golden Armor Realm, didn’t move an inch. His opponent, however, was sent stumbling back three steps before crashing into the rock wall.
The other two men simultaneously pulled back, retreating cautiously. Their pupils contracted as they got a clear look at Liang Cheng and the Zhenxian Saber in his hand.
"The Martial Arts Academy’s True Inheritor, Liang Cheng?"
Liang Cheng didn’t answer, remaining cautious. The three men exchanged a look. Liang Cheng’s arrival had disrupted their plan. They hadn’t expected that after all the distractions they had deliberately created, he would still find his way directly here.
The three men attacked simultaneously. Their moves were bizarre and cunning, each strike aimed at a vital point. The corrosive power within their True Qi continuously wore away at Liang Cheng’s Protective True Qi.
Liang Cheng pushed his Wandering Dragon Step to its limits, weaving and dodging within the narrow stone cavern. A curtain of saber light shielded his body. All three were masters of the True Qi Realm, and their coordinated attack technique was exquisite, their auras linked. For the moment, Liang Cheng could only test their strength and defend himself.
In less than ten exchanges, the robe on Liang Cheng’s left shoulder was torn. The three opponents fought with increasing ferocity, their eyes gleaming.
The True Inheritor of the Martial Arts Academy, the very same Liang Cheng the Left Envoy had praised as peerless among the younger generation after the battle at Wuyin Reef, would likely meet his end at their hands today.
"How does my Blood-Eroding Claw Force feel?"
One of them sounded smug. Liang Cheng remained silent. Although his three opponents were all in the True Qi Realm and had the advantage of numbers, he knew that if he fought them head-on, he still stood a chance.
’It seems I’ve underestimated the power of my Perfect Dao Foundation and its nine True Qi Seeds.’
Just then, his gaze swept over the floating ores on the stone platform. The bloody light from the altar was intensifying, and he noticed his three opponents kept glancing at it out of the corners of their eyes.
’If that’s the case...’ Liang Cheng feigned exhaustion, letting his Saber Momentum falter. His opponents were incredibly experienced. They immediately shot their claws out like lightning, aiming straight for his heart!
The instant the Claw Wind reached him, Liang Cheng suddenly dropped low. He swept the Zhenxian Saber close to the ground, not at his enemies, but at a groove beneath the stone platform!
CRASH!
The groove shattered, and the dark red liquid collected within splashed out, showering the floating ores!
The Grey Robe Guardian’s face contorted with panicked rage. "You dare?!"
They actually abandoned their attack on Liang Cheng, whirling around to protect the altar’s ores. Liang Cheng shot to his feet. Instead of retreating, he advanced, thrusting his saber straight at one of the men’s backs.
The thrust was simple and direct, carrying the force of wind and thunder. The faint blue Sword Aura condensed into a razor-thin line. The three men roared and spun back around, but the blade was already just three inches from one of their backs!
The man violently twisted his body, narrowly avoiding a fatal blow. Still, the blade sliced under his ribs, drawing a trail of blood. For a moment, he was out of immediate danger.
He clutched his wound, his crimson eyes locked on Liang Cheng. He could no longer worry about the altar; he had to eliminate Liang Cheng first.
But Liang Cheng was already in rapid retreat.
"Don’t let him escape!"
The Grey Robe Guardian was utterly enraged. A black-and-red Qi Force surged from his sleeves. The three men pounced like phantoms, unleashing their full power. Layers upon layers of claw shadows appeared, sealing off all of Liang Cheng’s escape routes.
This time, they were holding nothing back.
The pressure on Liang Cheng intensified, but his curtain of saber light, still crackling with the force of wind and thunder, clashed against the claw shadows. Though he was temporarily on the back foot, his movements remained perfectly steady.
Just then, one of the men’s claw attacks slipped past the saber curtain and struck him squarely in the chest. Liang Cheng grunted and stumbled back a step.
’Now!’
With a low roar, Liang Cheng unleashed a frenzied slash with his Zhenxian Saber. The strike was terrifyingly fast, its power multiplied several times over!
Broken Wave Technique—Triple Slash.
Caught off guard, the Grey Robe Guardian blocked the attack with both claws. The impact sent him staggering backward, and the force of the slash blew his hood off, revealing a ghastly, pale face.
"You were still hiding your strength?!"
He was both shocked and furious. ’As expected of the prodigy the Left Envoy praised; his strength is astonishing.’ The three men exchanged a look, then simultaneously bit the tips of their tongues and spat out a mist of Essence Blood.
The auras around their bodies surged violently. Their eyes filled with a network of red veins, and their attacks instantly became even faster. They had adopted a frenzied, all-or-nothing approach, ready to trade their lives for his!
Seeing things had taken a bad turn, Liang Cheng quickly fell back.
Just then, a violent blast of True Qi shot toward them. One of the men whipped his claw around to block. Halberd met claw, erupting in a deafening clang of metal on metal.
A figure stepped in front of Liang Cheng, holding a Double Halberd at the ready. It was Lin Yue.
The Grey Robe Guardian stared at him and let out a low chuckle. "Lin Yue, oh, Lin Yue. After playing dead for eight years, you finally decide to act tough? Aren’t you afraid of your clan being annihilated?"
Lin Yue didn’t answer. He simply took a deep breath as a grey-black True Qi flared to life around him. He glanced back at Liang Cheng and asked in a low voice, "Town Guardian, can you still fight?"
Liang Cheng propped himself up with his saber.
"Then let’s do this together."
Lin Yue turned back, slowly raising his Double Halberd.
Inside the cavern, killing intent flared once more.
...
Halberd and claw clashed again, sending sparks flying!
Lin Yue’s Double Halberd moved like a furious dragon emerging from the sea, each strike immensely powerful. The grey-black True Qi condensed on the weapon’s edge, carving deep gashes into the cavern walls.
He was going all out, attacking with no thought for defense in a desperate, reckless style. One of the Grey Robe Guardians was a fraction too slow, and the halberd’s edge tore through his left shoulder. The ripped robe revealed ghastly pale skin beneath, which was covered in the same dark red veins as the ore.
"Lin Yue! You’re courting death!"
The wounded Guardian shrieked. The trio’s attacks grew even more frantic. With the pressure on him greatly reduced, Liang Cheng took a deep breath, suppressed the churning Qi Blood within him, and raised his Zhenxian Saber once more. This time, his Saber Momentum changed. Though it still held the fury of wind and thunder, it now also possessed the stability of a mountain.
Combined with the tidal surge of True Qi from his Broken Wave Technique, each of his moves carried a relentless follow-through. He engaged two of the Guardians at once, holding them off to buy Lin Yue time.
Meanwhile, Lin Yue’s attacks grew even more ferocious. He was trading blow for blow, injury for injury, fighting as if his life depended on it!
As Lin Yue brandished his Double Halberd, his Black Mountain Force erupted in continuous bursts. Catching this out of the corner of his eye, Liang Cheng was shocked. ’When we sparred before, Lin Yue wasn’t using his full strength.’
