And so, Chu Feng’s mother-in-law spent several hours chatting with Su Jun’s girlfriend, Jiang Qingyao, in the coffee shop.

Before she left, she made sure to get Jiang Qingyao’s contact information and instructed her, "Qingyao, don’t let Su Jun know we met this afternoon. Let him focus on finishing up his work this month. When I have some free time, I’ll call you, and we can go shopping together."

Not only that, but she also walked Jiang Qingyao all the way to the factory gate, watching reluctantly as she went inside for her shift.

This made Su Miaoke, who had been watching from the side all afternoon, start to get jealous.

"Tsk. Sure enough, a future daughter-in-law and an actual daughter are treated differently. I’ve never received this kind of treatment," Su Miaoke said, a little unhappy as she watched her mother.

"You’re the one who never wanted it. You’ve been strong-willed since you were little, always insisting on doing everything yourself. And now you have Xiao Feng to take care of you, so why would I need to worry?" Chu Feng’s mother-in-law said placidly.

"Alright, your Aunt Zhou and I have other plans, so you two have fun. We’ll be on our way." With that, Chu Feng’s mother-in-law and Sister Zhou left the factory gate.

"Hmph! So the daughter-in-law is important, but the daughter isn’t, is that it?" Su Miaoke fumed, stomping her foot.

"Alright, don’t be mad. Let’s head back," Chu Feng said with a smile as he got into the car. "You can finally stop worrying about Su Jun. Now that he has a girlfriend, he’s sure to stay out of trouble."

"I’m her daughter, for crying out loud, but she’s never doted on me like that! It’s so unfair!" Su Miaoke said, still looking indignant. She couldn’t help but feel like something was off balance.

Back at the Bright Moon Mountain Villa, the two of them made dinner. After they ate, they began their Cultivation.

Two days passed in the blink of an eye. The custom-made Alchemy Furnace had been delivered to the warehouse. Early that morning, Chu Feng brought Su Miaoke to the warehouse.

In a corner of the warehouse, Chu Feng had someone build a dedicated Alchemy Room.

Inside, several Pill Furnaces were set up. Chu Feng was currently adding various medicinal herbs into one of them.

A fierce flame burned beneath the Pill Furnace.

Suddenly, one of the Pill Furnaces let out a loud BOOM, as if it had exploded. The lid was nearly blown right off.

"Sigh, another failure," Chu Feng lamented.

Hearing the noise, Su Miaoke walked in from the doorway, but she immediately covered her nose with a delicate hand, her brow furrowed.

"Are you practicing Alchemy or brewing poison? The smell is going to kill me! You’ve already failed several times," Su Miaoke said with a frown.

"This is the eighth time," Chu Feng said helplessly. "It’s my first time trying Alchemy. The main problem is the fire. I can only keep experimenting until I find the right heat."

Refining a proper Medicinal Liquid was no easy task. The timing, the heat, and the quantities all had to be controlled with extreme precision; otherwise, failure was almost certain.

A single failure meant a considerable loss of materials.

However, Chu Feng wasn’t concerned about that. He had more than enough medicinal herbs. All that mattered now was getting a feel for the process.

He emptied the dregs from the Pill Furnace, cleaned it thoroughly, and threw in another batch of herbs to begin refining the Medicinal Liquid once more.

This time, Chu Feng was completely focused, not daring to make the slightest error. This level of concentration made him tense and tired him out quickly, but he had to do it to successfully refine the Medicinal Liquid.

He might spend the better part of a day on a single batch of Elixir Pills, only for a moment of carelessness to ruin the entire thing.

If Chu Feng weren’t a Foundation Establishment Realm Cultivator, attempting continuous Alchemy would be incredibly difficult. After all, how many ordinary people could endure staring intently at a furnace for several hours straight, let alone more than ten?

BANG!

As he was in the middle of refining, the entire furnace suddenly shattered.

Shards flew everywhere, along with the dregs of the herbs and splatters of liquid.

The entire Alchemy Room was filled with an acrid, nauseating stench.

Thankfully, Su Miaoke was standing far enough away that she wasn’t hit by any of the debris, but the loud bang still gave her a serious fright.

"Forget it, I’m done for today," Chu Feng said dejectedly. "By the way, isn’t that jade auction coming up soon?"

"Yeah, it’s tomorrow," Su Miaoke nodded, her face a mask of disgust.

The room was just too foul; the stench was overwhelming.

"Then just take a good rest today. Alchemy isn’t something you can master in a day or two. Get some rest first, and you can try again later," Su Miaoke said, hastily exiting the Alchemy Room.

Chu Feng nodded. "You’re right. I was too impatient."

When Chu Feng came out, Su Miaoke glanced at him. "Go take a shower, quick. You stink. After you’re done, let’s go get something to eat. It’s already dinnertime."

"That’s just how Alchemy is," Chu Feng said. "Alright, give me a minute. I’ll go take a shower."

After his shower, Chu Feng and Su Miaoke had a simple meal at a nearby restaurant.

That evening, instead of attempting Alchemy, Chu Feng meditated to continue his Cultivation, occasionally practicing his Palm Skill.

These days, Chu Feng rarely slept at night, spending most of his time on Cultivation.

After a full night of Cultivation, Chu Feng felt completely refreshed, and his power had grown a little stronger.

At first light, Chu Feng opened his eyes. He woke Su Miaoke, telling her to begin her Cultivation facing the rising sun.

They cultivated until the sky was fully lit, then went for breakfast before heading straight to the venue for the jade auction.

It was called a jade auction, but it was really an auction for raw, uncut stones.

They’d present a raw jade stone, completely uncut or with just a tiny corner showing, and let everyone bid on it. It was an age-old gimmick.

A few extremely lucky people might stumble upon a hidden treasure, but most bidders ended up losing money. The truly valuable raw stones were usually snapped up long before they could ever reach an auction.

After all, there was a saying in the trade: "One cut to rags, one cut to riches." This business was more ruthless than any casino.

With good luck, a single cut could make you a millionaire. With bad luck, a single cut could wipe out your entire fortune.

Not long after they arrived at the venue, Zhao Liu came over.

"Brother Chu! You’re here so early. Why didn’t you call me? I would’ve sent someone to pick you up," Zhao Liu said with a jovial laugh as soon as he arrived.

"We have our own car; we couldn’t possibly trouble Sixth Master every time," Chu Feng replied with a smile.

"Seen anything good yet, brother?" Zhao Liu asked.

"No, we just got here ourselves," Chu Feng said.

"That’s normal," Zhao Liu said with a smile. "There’s no point looking around here; it’s all junk. The main auction later might have some decent items. Although the final prices are anyone’s guess, the quality will be far superior to what you’ll find at these little stalls."

He was also a big fan of jade, so he knew all the ins and outs of the business.
