Up ahead, when Scarface saw Chu Feng closing in behind him, his legs went weak with fear.

He had run onto the main road hoping to flag down a car. It was the only way he could make a quick getaway; otherwise, on his own two feet, he could run himself to death and still not escape.

But unfortunately for him, his luck was terrible. He ran for hundreds of meters without seeing a single car.

Just as Chu Feng was about to catch him, Scarface knew he couldn’t get away. He spun around and scrambled toward a house by the side of the road.

He shattered the window with a single kick.

"Stop chasing me! One more step and I’ll take them down with me!" Scarface snarled, his hands wrapped around the necks of two people.

"Let them go and come down. I can spare your life," Chu Feng said.

But Scarface was unmoved, shouting, "You let me go, and I won’t kill them."

Chu Feng tried to reason with him. "Come down. I won’t touch you. I’ll just hand you over to the Inspection Bureau. You might still be able to keep your life."

"Let me go first, or there’s nothing to talk about!" Scarface yelled arrogantly. He was extremely agitated, looking like he could snap the necks of the two people in his grasp at any second.

"Don’t push your luck. You want me to let you go? In your dreams. If you so much as harm a single hair on their heads, I’ll show you what true misery is," Chu Feng said menacingly.

"Go on, try me! If I go back to the Inspection Bureau with you, it’s a death sentence anyway. I might as well take someone down with me," Scarface said, furious, killing intent swirling in his eyes.

In truth, he knew that after everything he’d done over the years, he wouldn’t be allowed to live, no matter who caught him.

"Then give it a try," Chu Feng said, unafraid. ’This guy wants to escape; he can’t afford to actually kill anyone.’

’If he dares to kill, he’ll never get away.’

At that moment, the couple inside the room were terrified.

The husband and wife had been sleeping in their own home when, out of nowhere, this scarred man had burst in and dragged them out of bed.

It scared them half to death, and they both started sobbing.

"What are you crying for?! Cry again and I’ll choke you to death," Scarface said viciously. With his ferocious expression, he was terrifying.

Just then, Wan Jie caught up. Her speed was much slower than Chu Feng’s.

After all, Chu Feng was an expert at the Peak of the Foundation Establishment Realm, far stronger than any ordinary person.

"Scarface, release the hostages now!" Wan Jie commanded.

"You bitch, what are you yelling about?! Go get me a car, now! Otherwise, I’ll choke them both to death," Scarface yelled arrogantly.

"Don’t move!" Wan Jie ordered.

"Don’t move? I’ll do whatever I want! Five minutes! If the car isn’t here in five minutes, they can both die!" Scarface squeezed their necks, and the couple’s faces turned pale.

Wan Jie was about to speak again, but Chu Feng stopped her.

"Go call for a car," Chu Feng said.

Wan Jie hesitated for a moment, then nodded. She dialed a colleague’s number and arranged for a car.

"What do we do now?" Wan Jie was at a loss, clearly worried by the situation.

"I told you over and over to tie them up. Why didn’t you listen?" Chu Feng said, exasperated. If she had just listened to him, none of this would be happening.

Now the situation was a mess for everyone.

"Just wait. Listen to me. I’ll handle this," Chu Feng said.

Wan Jie neither nodded nor refused. She was, in fact, very proud and unwilling to yield to others.

This was especially true with Chu Feng. He had indeed advised her several times before, but she had dismissed him as incompetent and paid him no mind.

In just two or three minutes, Wan Jie’s colleagues arrived with several cars.

"The cars you wanted are here. Come down and release the hostages," Wan Jie said to Scarface.

Chu Feng knew he could definitely catch Scarface if he made a move, but he wasn’t confident he could save the couple in time.

After all, Scarface had his hands around their necks. The slightest move from Chu Feng, and Scarface could snap them both in an instant—it would only take a second.

"All of you, back up! Retreat three hundred meters, or I’ll kill them!" Scarface snarled.

"Alright." Wan Jie didn’t hesitate and immediately began to fall back with her subordinates.

When the group had retreated more than a hundred meters, Scarface leaped from the second-story window, still holding the two hostages, and slowly walked toward the cars.

"You, Chu! I’ll remember you! I’ll get you back for this someday. I’ll definitely make you regret it," Scarface said arrogantly.

But just then, Wan Jie suddenly spoke up.

"Wait," Wan Jie called out.

"What are you trying to pull? If you make a wrong move, they die," Scarface said, annoyed and wary of a trick.

"I’ll be your hostage. Let them go. They’re innocent," Wan Jie said suddenly.
