'He's probably at the Late-stage Foundation Establishment at most. Reaching the Peak of Foundation Establishment would be a huge accomplishment,' Chu Feng thought to himself.
Chu Feng wasn't the least bit worried about someone at this level, but he was a little curious. In fact, his interest was piqued.
After all, it was hard to find anyone whose strength was comparable to his own.
Of course, while few people could reach the pinnacle of human strength, that didn't mean they didn't exist.
After all, the world was a vast and wondrous place. It was entirely possible that some peerless masters were hidden away somewhere.
And so, Chu Feng started to grow interested in this so-called old ancestor of the Chu Family.
"Alright, enough of that. Once we're done with my uncle's affairs, we'll head back together," Chu Feng said.
Afterward, Chu Feng, Su Miaoke, and Chu Hao offered incense and bowed to his uncle.
Though they had never met, he was, after all, his own flesh-and-blood uncle.
Seeing the sorrow on his father's face, Chu Feng couldn't help but sigh. 'The bond between the two brothers must have been very deep.'
Over the next few days, the Chu Family arranged for the funeral, which went off without a hitch. Chu Feng's uncle was buried on a mountain beside the Chu Family estate.
Essentially all members of the Chu Family were buried here after they passed away.
However, Chu Feng wasn't in a hurry to leave. He hadn't visited the Scripture Pavilion yet and wanted to check it out before he departed.
So for the time being, Chu Feng's family stayed at the estate.
Unlike Chu Feng, his parents and younger brother were quite curious about the Chu Family and wanted to look around.
After all, every morning, countless Chu Family disciples would be practicing their martial arts, their shouts shaking the heavens. It was a unique and fascinating spectacle.
Chu Feng headed toward the rear mountains of the Chu Family estate. According to the family's customs, only the stronger and older members were qualified to live back here; the farther back one lived, the higher their seniority.
As he passed, many people greeted him.
After all, everyone in the Chu Family now knew of his fameāand that he was the future Patriarch.
As things stood, Chu Feng was now the Chu Family's Young Master.
Chu Feng couldn't be bothered to acknowledge most of their greetings, having no interest in dealing with them.
Just then, a voice came from behind him. "Young Master, are you heading to the Scripture Pavilion?"
Hearing this, Chu Feng frowned. "I'm not your Chu Family's Young Master. Don't go calling me that, Elder."
"Young Master, whether you acknowledge it or not, the Patriarch has already made his decision. It is an established fact," the Chu Family Elder said with a smile, not at all angered. "The future Patriarch will be you, so naturally, you are the Chu Family's Young Master now."
"That's what he said. I never agreed to it," Chu Feng replied, continuing on his way.
'Bullshit future Patriarch.' Chu Feng didn't have the slightest interest.
"Young Master, no matter how much you may resist now, what the Chu Family has decided cannot be changed. You are destined to be our Young Master, and the future Patriarch.
Since you wish to go to the Scripture Pavilion, please go ahead. You have been granted full access!"
The Elder, of course, knew that Chu Feng still had major reservations about the Chu Family, but he believed that one day, he would come to accept his role.
The farther he walked into the rear mountains, the older the men he encountered became.
However, none of these old-timers were arrogant like the people he'd met before. On the contrary, they greeted Chu Feng one after another with polite and enthusiastic smiles.
This alone showed that the Chu Family unconditionally supported and approved of the Patriarch's decision.
As a result, everyone's attitude toward him had done a complete one-eighty.
After walking for another half an hour or so, Chu Feng felt he was nearing the summit.
He was surrounded by lush, green trees, with a small path leading directly to the summit.
Just then, two people came walking down from above.
"Are you Chu Feng?" they asked.
"Yes. Why?" Chu Feng asked.
"Is the Young Master heading to the Scripture Pavilion?" they asked.
"Yes. Your Patriarch said I'm allowed to enter the Scripture Pavilion as I please," Chu Feng replied.
"Yes, the Patriarch has given the order. Please continue up the path, Young Master. The Scripture Pavilion is at the summit," they said.
Hearing this, Chu Feng nodded. "Thanks."
Chu Feng then continued up the mountain, while the two men headed down.
After walking for a few more minutes, Chu Feng encountered another two people.
These must be the guards for the rear mountain. Their strength was decent; they weren't weak by any means.
This just went to show how important this place was. If you weren't of the Direct Lineage or of high seniority, you couldn't even come here.
The reason Direct Lineage members were allowed in was that there were very few Direct Lineage Disciples in the entire Chu Family to begin with.
Anyone who qualified for the Direct Lineage was exceptionally strong and incredibly talented.
Therefore, they were naturally qualified to enter the Scripture Pavilion, as the Direct Lineage represented the hope and pillar of the Chu Family's future.
But Direct Lineage Disciples were exceedingly rare. The Chu Family had several hundred disciples under the age of thirty, but the number who qualified for the Direct Lineage could be counted on one hand.
