My Online Girlfriend Has a Twin Sister
Chapter 433 - 287: Private Jiangg Yao, Fall OutUnlike Chen Yuan, who felt a little wistful, the two sisters were filled with boundless joy on top of their nervousness. They didn’t even know how to celebrate.
Regardless of how meeting his parents went, at least Chen Yuan had finally moved back from that cramped apartment. It proved the emotional rift caused by their deception had vanished, and he had accepted the fact that he was in a relationship with both of them.
It had been a long, hard road to get to this point.
After all their efforts, wasn’t all they wanted to enjoy a normal, simple romance?
You could call it a fortunate coincidence.
Or you could say their hard work had finally paid off.
From now on, they could finally stop worrying and get a good night’s sleep every night.
So when the sisters went with Chen Yuan to move his things from the apartment, their faces were wreathed in smiles. Even as the sweltering heat made sweat stream down their faces and brought a fiery blush to their cheeks, they didn’t feel tired at all.
Chen Yuan suggested a break, but Jiang Ning, with fine beads of sweat on her upper lip, just shook her head. She handed him a bottle of water and turned to get back to work.
A few playful strands of her hair danced into view around the corner, then vanished.
...
"Private Jiang Yao!"
"!" Hearing her sister’s shout, Jiang Yao put down her iced coke. After half a second of stunned silence, she shot to her feet. "Present! Your orders, Commander Ningning."
"Chest out, head up, butt out!"
"?"
"Just do it."
Jiang Yao’s mouth twitched. She took a deep breath and puffed out her full, round chest, not forgetting to shoot a glare at a snickering Chen Yuan, baring her white teeth at him.
A clear threat.
After a full day of work, they had moved almost everything from his apartment. Now, Unit 1302 no longer felt so empty and had returned to the way it was before.
The scene just now had happened because Jiang Ning had gone out to buy some chestnuts and fruit. She planned to arrange some on the table tomorrow to make a nice display. It had to be said, Ningning was incredibly thoughtful.
Exhausted, the three of them sat around the coffee table, talking and eating fruit.
As Ningning peeled an orange to feed Chen Yuan, Yaoyao kept pestering her about cooking together the next day. She didn’t want to just stand around in the kitchen, completely useless, and leave a bad impression.
Jiang Ning was speechless.
She had tried to teach Yaoyao countless times, hoping she would learn so she wouldn’t starve when she was home alone. But Yaoyao had refused, insisting that as long as her sister was around, she’d never starve—even if it meant eating takeout.
She only started setting foot in the kitchen after meeting Chen Yuan.
By now, she had acquired rudimentary skills. She could boil noodles or scramble an egg, but anything more complicated and her brain would just freeze up.
So Jiang Ning scolded her, asking why she hadn’t learned sooner.
But Yaoyao wouldn’t give up. She used all her tricks—pouting, wheedling, and even nudging Chen Yuan to put in a good word for her with Ningning.
That hit Jiang Ning’s weak spot.
After a moment’s hesitation, Jiang Ning had to relent for Chen Yuan’s sake, but she laid down some conditions.
"Don’t get in the way! Don’t disobey orders! And don’t just pretend to work!"
"When the time comes, you will do exactly as I say. If you mess up this meal, I will never forgive you, and I won’t ever budge on anything again."
Jiang Yao nodded vigorously.
"Sis, if you tell me to go east, I’ll never go west. Tomorrow, you’re my commander, and I’m your private. Just give the order, and I’ll follow it to the letter... no, wait, I already am your private."
Having pledged her loyalty, Yaoyao found that Jiang Ning wasn’t so easily convinced. She started the "training" immediately.
She knew her sister too well. For Yaoyao, paying lip service was as natural as breathing.
"Sis, I’ll definitely listen to you..." Jiang Yao said in a soft, wheedling tone, pouting slightly.
"Don’t call me ’Sis’! On the battlefield, there are no sisters, only a commander and her subordinate!" Jiang Ning slammed her hand on the table.
"Yes, sir! Commander Ningning!"
Chen Yuan was the first to lose it. His mouth twitched a few times before he clutched his stomach and burst out laughing. "Hahaha!" He toppled sideways, hugging a throw pillow as his shoulders shook uncontrollably.
His laughter was the last straw.
Jiang Yao’s cheeks instantly flushed crimson with a mix of humiliation and indignation. She bit her lip resentfully, her eyes filled with the mournful look of a bullied puppy.
"What are you laughing at?" Ningning smacked Chen Yuan’s leg, though not hard enough to hurt.
"I just think it’s... it’s fun," Chen Yuan said, waving a hand, unable to contain his amusement. "Go on, you two, continue."
"This is a serious matter. The consequences will be dire if we mess this up. You should think about that."
"I know, Commander Ningning," Chen Yuan replied, nodding.
"Alright, tomorrow, everyone follows my orders! No one is to be a liability, or else..." Jiang Ning’s long, narrow eyes narrowed. She snatched Chen Yuan’s belt from nearby and slapped it on the table with a CRACK. "It’s severe punishment for you!"
Chen Yuan and Jiang Yao exchanged a glance, then lowered their heads in unison.
He was the head of the household in name only, and Yaoyao was at the very bottom of the food chain. It was self-evident who the true master of the house was.
The evening they spent together was filled with warmth. The three of them together created a surprisingly harmonious picture—something that would have been unimaginable before. If you had asked the once-combative Ningning and Yaoyao, neither of whom would ever back down, they would never have dreamed of such a cozy moment.
It was as if all their sharp edges had been softened by the rare warmth of sharing the same space.
Together, they looked forward to tomorrow, and to the future.
Nothing could be better than this.
Jiang Ning listened as Chen Yuan described his parents’ personalities, how they got together, and how they raised him, gradually forming a picture in her mind of the two elders she had yet to meet.
Jiang Yao was also listening intently, but her soft little hands never stopped peeling oranges. The moment she even thought of taking a breather, Ningning’s scrutinizing gaze would land on her.
"Keep peeling!"
"Yes... Commander Ningning."
...
「The next morning.」
Chen Yuan was woken by the hurried patter of footsteps. He sat dazedly on his bed for a long time, rubbing his sleepy eyes until he felt reasonably conscious. He then stood up, his hair a total mess, and looked around.
It suddenly hit him that he had moved back in last night.
’No wonder I slept so soundly,’ he thought to himself.
It was like staying in a hotel; he had never gotten used to that cramped apartment. Now, he was finally back "home."
That place wasn’t warm. This place was.
Listening to the footsteps outside, Chen Yuan remembered how he’d hoped last night that Jiang Ning and Jiang Yao might sleep with him, or at least one of them would sneak in. But that was just wishful thinking.
With Ningning back, that kind of behavior would be strictly regulated. Unless there was an exceptional circumstance, like the rainstorm that had prevented them from going home, or they were in that unspoken, ambiguous phase of their relationship, they wouldn’t sleep in the same bed. Jiang Yao couldn’t come even if she wanted to.
He’d played on his phone for a while before naturally falling asleep.
CLICK. Chen Yuan opened his door and walked shirtless into the living room, only for Jiang Yao to come barreling right into him, her arms full of kitchen supplies.
"Oof..." The impact hurt, and he clutched his stomach.
"Young Master, I’m sorry! I was running too fast. Are you okay?" Jiang Yao asked worriedly, hastily rubbing his stomach.
"I’m fine. What are you two up to?"
From behind the glass door to the kitchen, a busy Jiang Ning called out softly, "Yaoyao? Where’d you go?"
"Coming!" Jiang Yao shot back up, ready to dash off like a gust of wind. But after a few steps, she suddenly seemed to remember something and hurried back. She gave Chen Yuan’s stomach another pat. "Nice abs, Young Master. Mwah! Good morning~"
She delivered the tease, the kiss, and the good morning greeting, then bolted.
The whole sequence left Chen Yuan dumbfounded.
He looked toward the kitchen and saw that the doorway was already piled high with all sorts of fresh ingredients. Most of the pots and pans had been brought over. The two sisters must have woken up at the crack of dawn to start their preparations.
It looked like they were gearing up for a major battle.
