My Overpowered Bunny Girls

Chapter 157: The Obsidian Keep (2)

Shiro moved like a golden blur. [Dragon King’s Ascension] carried her through the operatives, leaving behind dragon-shaped afterimages that confused them. She reached a group of operatives and used [Tyrant Dragon Fist]—KRAK-BOOOOOM! A huge dragon head appeared around her fist, and the powerful shockwave sent the grey-robed operatives flying.

"The Young Lord’s enemies will fall before the dragon’s fire!"

Garrett and Red anchored the left flank, Volcan erupting against a Corrupted Rock Hound—KRAK-BOOM—the thermal pulse shattering its rocky hide. Red’s wool hardened to full armor, and the Mad-Sheep charged a second Hound, horns meeting corruption with crimson fury. "Hold the line! Don’t let them flank us!"

Dillon and Cloudy took the air, engaging a pair of Corrupted Giant Hawks. Cloudy’s static discharge arced across the creatures’ wings, forcing them to bank. Dillon’s [Thunder Edge] carved through one, and the other fell to a bolt of lightning from Cloudy’s jaws. "These things are faster than they were at Greyvale! But we’re faster still!"

Elise raised Aurora’s Heart, and [Glacial Lance] materialized at the staff’s tip. She released—CRRRRACK—and the spear of frost punched through three operatives in a row, freezing them solid. The Frost Golem waded into the frozen operatives, crystalline fists shattering them. "The frost is holding. Keep them contained."

Kuro moved through the shadows. [Invisibility] carried her past the main battle, behind the operatives’ front line. She materialized behind a spellcaster who was channeling dark magic and drove Silence and Stillness into his spine—SHINK-SHINK—the paralytic energy locking his body rigid. He collapsed, his spell dying on his lips. She vanished again before the next operative could react.

And Nathan.

Nathan Cross, the F-Rank Archer who had once counted every arrow, stood at the rear of the party and rained hell.

Moonlight sang. [Mana Arrows] flew in rapid succession—THWIP-THWIP-THWIP—each one finding a mark with the ease of his new D-Rank aptitude. The mana flowed freely through his channels, unhindered by the ceiling that had constrained him for so long. He fired until the first wave of operatives was broken, until the mutated summons were thinning, until the floor was littered with grey robes and dissolving corruption.

And then he looked at Clamour.

The Eastern Sector Commander stood at the back of the hall, his expression no longer smug. His Treant was engaged with Mirko and Shiro, its massive limbs sweeping in deadly arcs, its hollow-knot eyes blazing with dark light. But Nathan could see the hesitation in Clamour’s posture. The uncertainty. The beginning of fear.

"Mark the target," Nathan murmured. [Death’s Homing Compass] activated, and a silver sigil appeared over Clamour’s heart.

Clamour saw it. His eyes widened. "What is that? What have you—"

Nathan released the arrow.

The shot curved. Clamour dove behind his throne, but the arrow followed—bending around the obsidian seat, adjusting its trajectory with supernatural precision. It struck him in the shoulder, driving him backward. He screamed, clutching the wound.

"Impossible! This can’t—"

"It can." Nathan nocked another arrow. "And this one." Another. "And this one."

He fired three shots in rapid succession. All three curved. All three found their mark. Clamour collapsed against the throne, his grey robes stained with blood, his smug composure shattered.

The Treant, sensing its master’s fall, went berserk. It slammed its roots into the floor, sending cracks racing through the obsidian. Mirko and Shiro fell back, their barriers flickering under the assault. But Nathan stepped forward, Moonlight raised.

"[Starfall Barrage]."

A single arrow ascended into the air. At the apex of its flight, it split—one arrow becoming ten, twenty, a hundred—a rain of celestial light that descended on the Treant like a meteor shower. Each arrow burned with silver fire, and each impact cratered the creature’s bark, shattering its corrupted form from the outside in.

The Treant screamed and collapsed. Its mutation unraveled, dark energy bleeding into the floor. Within seconds, it was nothing but a mound of inert timber that was dissipating into nothingness and light particles.

Clamour watched from the base of the throne, his eyes wide with horror. His summon was gone. His operatives were broken. His fortress was falling.

"You.. little... shit... what are you?" he whispered.

Nathan walked toward him, Moonlight still in his grip. The silver sigil from [Death’s Homing Compass] still glowed over Clamour’s heart. "I’m the Bunny king. And you’re done."

The battle ended quickly after that.

The remaining operatives surrendered after their commander was defeated and their mutations were reversed. The TCA arrived within the hour. Valerie had been tracking their progress and sent a containment team as soon as Nathan’s party reached the Keep. The grey-robed prisoners were tied up and taken away. The surviving mutated summons were recorded and taken for study.

The Obsidian Keep had once been the center of the Court’s eastern operation. Now, it was silent.

Nathan stood at the broken gate of the fortress, watching the sun set through the smoke. The sky was still red, but it no longer felt as heavy. It felt a little less hopeless.

His party gathered around him—Garrett with Volcan over his shoulder, Dillon with Cloudy coiled around his neck, Elise with Aurora’s Heart planted before her. Mirko, Kuro, and Shiro were in humanoid form, their weapons sheathed, their presences warm through the link.

"Clamour’s in custody," Garrett said. "The TCA’s interrogating him now. He’s singing like a bird, turns out he’s not as devoted as he pretended when his summon’s gone and the Shepherd’s nowhere to be found."

"The eastern sector is broken," Dillon added. "Valerie says the collapses are slowing. The TCA’s getting them under control. It’ll take weeks to fully stabilize, but the worst is over. For now."

Nathan nodded. The Cleansing wasn’t over. The Shepherd was still out there, bound by rules Nathan didn’t understand but determined to consume everything he’d fought for. The Court’s other sectors were still active. The western regions were probably burning even as they stood here.

But he felt something that might have been hope.

"We did good work here," he said quietly. "We saved a lot of people. But the fight’s not over. The Shepherd’s still out there. The other sectors are still active. We should rest tonight. Tomorrow, we keep fighting."

"Hmph! This Knight is ready to keep fighting tonight!" Mirko declared, Dragon’s Fang blazing. "The Court will learn to fear the Bunny Girl Legion! We are three now, and we are unstoppable!"

’There are still only three of us,’ Kuro observed. ’That is not a legion.’

"It is a proto-legion! A legion-in-training! Soon we will be more, and then—"

"Then we’ll deal with it," Nathan cut in, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "But for now, let’s get some rest. We’ve earned it."
