Chapter 1335: Chapter 1334: A New Home
Just as they exchanged greetings and took a couple of steps, they saw their family butler, Xu Hou, who approached with a warm smile. Xu Hou was a skilled master who had been secretly following Wu Jian; thanks to him, Wu Jian was well-informed of everything happening in South Sea City, always keeping abreast of Wu Mengting and Chen Tianlong’s affairs without leaving his home.
"Young Miss, you’re finally back. The master has missed you dearly."
"Haha, here I am back, I missed them too."
At that moment, Xu Hou noticed Chen Tianlong behind Wu Mengting and quickly asked, "And who might this gentleman be?"
Wu Mengting calmly replied, "He’s my boyfriend."
"Oh? The young miss’s boyfriend, please do come in!" Xu Hou, hearing that he was the young miss’s boyfriend, was very respectful.
The three of them entered the Leng Family hall together. At that moment, Wu Jian was in the hall enjoying tea; upon hearing footsteps, he looked up to see his daughter Wu Mengting had returned. Overjoyed, he exclaimed, "My daughter, you finally decided to come back to see this old man?"
"Oh, Dad, it’s not like I haven’t been watched over by Master Void, not letting me come back," she said as she rushed over to give him a hug.
The two embraced for a while, and suddenly Wu Jian’s gaze fell on Chen Tianlong, making him become serious.
"Chen Tianlong, you’re here too?"
Wu Jian was clearly a bit surprised, as his daughter’s demonic possession was directly related to him.
"Father-in-law, I’ve returned. I’m sorry to have caused you such trouble," Chen Tianlong said somewhat embarrassedly.
"Ah, let’s not speak of the past. Now that Mengting can stand here safe and sound, it means she’s back to normal. Please, sit down." Wu Jian did not wish to blame Chen Tianlong, especially because he knew who Chen Tianlong was—the son of his good brother, Chen Feng. How could he reproach him?
Saying this, Wu Jian instructed the butler to prepare a welcome feast for Wu Mengting. The butler took the order and informed the head chef, who began to busy himself. Meanwhile, Wu Mengting took Chen Tianlong for a tour around the manor, with Wu Jian tagging along since he had no pressing matters.
The Good Sword Manor was expansive, with mountains and water, a truly magnificent place. Various pavilions and towers had been built, and behind the main hall was a lotus pond with a small arched bridge and willow trees providing shade—a beautiful scene indeed.
"Good Sword Manor certainly has excellent Feng Shui, the buildings are magnificent, and the scenery is beautiful," Chen Tianlong couldn’t help but compliment.
"Haha, Chen Tianlong, you flatter me."
Clearly, Wu Jian was very pleased to hear the praise.
Before long, the three of them arrived at a place called the Hidden Sword Pavilion, the words drew Chen Tianlong’s attention.
Seeing Chen Tianlong’s curiosity, Wu Jian smiled and asked, "Chen Tianlong, it seems you’re someone who understands swords, seeing as you’re wearing one. Since you’re at Good Sword Manor today, I shall take you to tour the manor’s Sword Vault."
The three entered the Hidden Sword Pavilion together, and upon pushing open the door, they were greeted by an array of swords.
Seeing this, Chen Tianlong felt enlightened. He had never seen so many swords, and the variety was countless. Apart from the Hidden Sword Manor, this must be the place with the most swords.
Wu Jian led them around, introducing a few fine swords, and then suddenly said with some regret, "Alas, though Good Sword Manor has countless swords, there is yet one I can call a peerless masterpiece. It’s a bit embarrassing."
"Haha, Wu Jian, you’re being modest. From what I’ve seen, the swords inside are all treasures, their quality is extraordinary." Chen Tianlong spoke truthfully, as the swords inside were indeed exquisite.
"Haha, Chen Tianlong, you flatter me, but I know what I have."
Saying this, the three were about to leave when something strange happened. All the swords inside the pavilion suddenly began to tremble, producing a clinking sound, with the frequency increasing over time.
At this moment, Wu Jian noticed the sword on Chen Tianlong’s back was also moving, with an orange glow emanating from the hilt.
Curiously, Wu Jian swiftly grabbed the Dragon Slayer Sword from Chen Tianlong’s back, and to his astonishment, it was merely a short sword.
The trembling of all the other swords ceased, and Wu Jian knew that this sword was the source. He wondered how powerful such a sword could be.
"Chen Tianlong, could you tell me what sword this is?" Wu Jian asked curiously.
"It’s called the Dragon Slayer Sword," Chen Tianlong replied calmly.
"Ah? The Dragon Slayer Sword? Is this the very sword that’s been causing such chaos in the martial world lately?" Wu Jian was extremely surprised that a peerless sword was in Chen Tianlong’s possession.
"Yes, precisely the Dragon Slayer Sword." Given that Wu Mengting’s family was concerned, Chen Tianlong saw no harm in explaining.
Upon hearing this, Wu Jian observed the Dragon Slayer Sword carefully for a while, completely captivated by it. Wu Mengting noticed his fascination; she knew her father was a sword fool who could go without eating or sleeping when he saw a fine sword, sometimes even willing to pay any price to obtain it.
"Dad, let’s go have dinner."
Wu Mengting snatched the Dragon Slayer Sword and handed it back to Chen Tianlong, then led him out of the pavilion first.
However, Wu Jian’s heart was still unsettled. Living for so many years, he finally saw the peerless Dragon Slayer Sword with his own eyes. How could he not be thrilled? So he was secretly planning something in his mind...
Once out of the pavilion, Wu Mengting quietly said to Chen Tianlong, "Chen Tianlong, protect your sword well. My dad is a sword fool; I’m afraid he might have harmful intentions toward your sword."
"Haha, Mengting, you’re overthinking it. Your dad was just curious; it’s not as serious as you think," Chen Tianlong said, not too concerned, as he believed Wu Jian was a man of high moral character and would not take what belonged to others.
Soon, Wu Jian also caught up, and the three of them made their way to the hall, where the meal had been almost prepared. Wu Jian warmly invited Chen Tianlong to join them for dinner, and Chen Tianlong did not hold back. The three began their meal.
Wu Jian was particularly happy today because of his daughter’s return; he drank large gulps of wine, and although Chen Tianlong usually abstained from alcohol, he was coaxed into having a small cup by Wu Jian.
Since it was his first time drinking, one cup was enough to make Chen Tianlong’s eyes water.
"Chen Tianlong, wine complements heroes and those who practice swords should not avoid it. Come on, have another cup," Wu Jian said heartily.
"Dad, Chen Tianlong really doesn’t like drinking, please don’t force him," Wu Mengting said worriedly.
"Mengting, it’s alright, I can drink this."
Chen Tianlong felt Wu Jian had a point, so he raised his cup and drank it all.
In no time, Wu Jian filled Chen Tianlong’s cup again and laughed heartily, "Come on, you’ll be staying at the manor for the next few days so enjoy the drink. Even if you get drunk, it doesn’t matter."
Chen Tianlong didn’t hold back either, raising his cup for another drink. After a few more cups, he started feeling a bit dizzy. The alcohol was indeed strong but he continued to drink with Wu Jian.
And so, they toasted back and forth, drinking into the afternoon.
