My Profession Can Be Infinitely Upgraded
Chapter 32 - 15: Daoist Wielding a SwordChapter 32: Chapter 15: Daoist Wielding a Sword
"Fortunately, after becoming a Clear Heart Swordsman, the first layer of risk is virtually nonexistent for me, and I already have a solution for the second layer."
With this in mind, Jiang Xuan shifted his gaze forward.
The moment he finished his practice, Nan Zhi slowly stepped forward and handed him a bottle of Elixir Pills and several plates of Spiritual Pastries.
"Mr. Dong asked me to give these to you."
"Please thank Mr. Dong for me."
Jiang Xuan was truly grateful for the resources Dong Hao had sent. However, the thought that he would be able to vent Dong Hao’s frustrations and help him earn a large sum of Spirit Stones in a few days made Jiang Xuan accept the resources without any hesitation, his expression remaining calm and indifferent.
Yet, his polite, composed, and neither humble nor arrogant attitude caused both Nan Zhi and Cheng Cultivator to frown.
As a servant, Nan Zhi was fiercely loyal. She knew that there were certain things Dong Hao was not in a position to say, which required her to step forward and say things that might offend others.
Right now, for instance, she did not want to see Jiang Xuan’s polite thanks, but rather his overwhelming, head-bowing gratitude. She wanted to explicitly tell him just how precious these resources were, and that this opportunity was not something just anyone could beg for.
But as the words reached her lips, she ultimately swallowed them back. Mr. Dong’s parting instructions still echoed in her ears: "Jiang Xuan is a Sword Cultivator, and Sword Cultivators are often full of pride. You don’t need to say anything right now. In a few days, when he loses the bet and his pride is ground away, he will naturally understand."
That single instruction instantly made Nan Zhi realize that the bet Mr. Dong had set up was not merely to bestow a favor upon Jiang Xuan. More than that, it was to grind away his ill-timed pride so he could be taken in as a subordinate in the future.
While Nan Zhi held her tongue, Cheng Cultivator stood beside her with a face full of worry. He had some understanding of the character of a Noble Family’s Descendant. He believed that if Jiang Xuan kept acting this way—refusing to lower his posture and failing to provide even a bit of emotional value—he would sooner or later be discarded like a worn-out shoe.
However, looking at Jiang Xuan’s unfazed and confident demeanor, he opened his mouth but ultimately said nothing.
After taking the Elixir Pills, Jiang Xuan calculated his cultivation progress in his mind, "I have already opened nineteen acupoints. I am still seventeen short of the Thirty-Six Acupoints required for the ’Excellent’ rating."
With only two days left to open seventeen acupoints, it meant that starting tomorrow, he had to open at least nine acupoints each day.
"Although time is tight, it is just enough for me to complete it."
Just as this Heart Thought settled, he looked up and saw that during the evening class on their fifth day of entering the Dao, seven more Noble Family’s Descendants in the front row had successfully opened all thirty-six acupoints, stepping into the ranks of the "Excellent" tier.
At this point, the number of students in the Daoist School who had achieved an Excellent rating had increased from eleven to eighteen. Among these eighteen were his acquaintances Dong Hao and Su Linyin, as well as Zeng Jun, who had previously caused trouble for him.
Seeing so many geniuses instantly dissipated any trace of complacency in Jiang Xuan’s heart.
"The Shenxiao Sect has many geniuses. I must absolutely not be arrogant.
"Moreover, the Daoist School I am in can only be considered average within the Shenxiao Mountain Gate. The true geniuses are all concentrated in Zi’s Daoist School."
The Shenxiao Sect was massive. Its Outer Sect stations were named according to their locations using the twelve Earthly Branches: Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, Rooster, Xu, and Hai.
Among these, every Outer Sect station housed a Daoist School. Although, according to the Sect, the twelve Outer Sects and the Twelve Daoist Schools held equal status with no distinction in rank, everyone knew this was nothing more than superficial politeness.
As the first of the twelve Earthly Branches, Zi’s Daoist School was closely situated to the Inner Sect Mountain Gate. Therefore, it had always been the leader of the Outer Sect, and its overall strength was the highest. Nine times out of ten, the Direct Lineage descendants of the top Noble Families within the Sect, or the Nobles from the Lower Classes discovered in the mortal realm, were placed in Zi’s Daoist School to be cultivated with maximum effort.
Because it was a gathering place for geniuses, Zi’s Daoist School also had the alias of the "Daozi Courtyard" within the Outer Sect.
"I am still far too lacking right now."
After a soft sigh, the evening class officially came to an end. Seeing this, Jiang Xuan swallowed an Elixir Pill, used the Spiritual Pastries to help dissolve its medicinal efficacy, and then got up to head toward Cui Bamboo Town.
As soon as he entered Cui Bamboo Town, Jiang Xuan noticed the town was exceptionally bustling. With lanterns and decorations hung up everywhere, it looked even more festive than a holiday.
With a turn of his Heart Thought, Jiang Xuan immediately understood the reason.
"The Su Family is coming."
For the ordinary Cultivators in town, this was a massive opportunity to cling to an Immortal Sect Family, so they naturally put all their effort into showing off. However, Jiang Xuan had no interest in this whatsoever.
After returning home, he swept the courtyard, offered incense, sprinkled water, and refilled the oil lamps. Once he finished his fundamental duties as a Daoist Acolyte, he took advantage of his remaining energy and spirit to sit cross-legged in the main hall. Word by word, he began to chant the three great Divine Spells: Purifying Heart, Purification of the Mouth, and Purification.
Naturally, during this process, he continuously cradled his Bamboo Sword Cyan Glaze in his arms. His action of holding the sword while chanting the Spell also caused a bizarre scene to unfold upon him.
"Supreme Star, responding to changes without pause; Exorcism and Binding Charm, Life and Body Protection..."
SHING!
The moment he chanted the Purifying Heart Divine Spell, a sword hum suddenly echoed! The profound Spells actually condensed into an invisible Heart Sword within his Sea of Consciousness. Wherever the Sword Light passed, all the distracting thoughts and disturbances in his heart were completely slashed away!
"Hmm?! The Purifying Heart Divine Spell can fuse with the One Qi Sword Technique? Then what about the other Divine Spells?"
These thoughts were not distractions; under his sincere focus, they were Jiang Xuan’s contemplations and expansions on the Sword Dao. The so-called Clear Heart did not mean acting like dead wood and refraining from thinking. Instead, it meant tying all of one’s Heart Spirit entirely to a single sword.
With these thoughts brewing in his mind, he smoothly transitioned into chanting the Purification Body Spell and the Purifying Mouth Spell. The resounding Spells fused deeply with the Sword of the Spirit of the Clear Heart Swordsman. Ultimately, they transformed into a Magic Sword bathed in clear light, silently floating in his Sea of Consciousness.
