The ticket disappeared from Alicia’s hand.
[Extra Life Ticket has been activated.]
[If you die, you will not suffer complete death.]
[All current progress will be lost upon death.]
[Your level will regress to Level 1.]
Alicia read through the notifications and nodded.
"Good. At least I have a second chance if something goes wrong."
With that taken care of, Alicia summoned her bonded beast.
A small Thunder Bird appeared beside her. It was still young and weak, especially compared to the powerful beasts she hoped to obtain in the future.
Alicia looked at it.
"Scout ahead and check the village."
The Thunder Bird nodded before taking flight.
It flew toward the nearby settlement and circled around the village several times, carefully observing the surroundings. Alicia remained where she was and waited patiently.
Several minutes later, the Thunder Bird returned and landed on her shoulder.
"It’s safe?"
The Thunder Bird nodded.
Alicia relaxed slightly.
"Good."
She dismissed the Thunder Bird and started walking toward the village.
The settlement was only a few minutes away, and everything around it seemed peaceful. There were no signs of monsters or other dangers nearby.
When Alicia reached the entrance, she noticed several guards standing beside the gate. One of them looked at her curiously.
"Are you an adventurer, miss?"
Alicia shook her head.
"No, I’m not. I’m planning to become one, though."
She paused before asking,
"Could you tell me where the nearest city with an Adventurer Association is?"
The guard thought for a moment before answering.
"You’re actually pretty lucky. The nearest city is only about half a day’s journey from here by carriage."
He pointed toward the road.
"There should be a carriage leaving soon as well. If you wait here, you should be able to get a ride."
Alicia’s expression brightened.
"Really?"
The guard nodded.
"Yes. It usually leaves around this time. Just wait near the entrance and it should arrive soon."
Alicia smiled.
"Thank you for the information."
"No problem."
She entered the village and briefly looked around.
It was a small and peaceful settlement with only a few dozen houses. Several small shops lined the main road, and the villagers seemed to be going about their daily lives.
Alicia had no reason to stay.
Her priority was reaching the nearest city, registering with the Adventurer Association, and learning more about the Cosmic World.
After looking around for a short while, she returned to the village entrance and waited.
A few minutes later, a carriage appeared in the distance.
The guard pointed toward it.
"That’s the carriage."
Alicia nodded.
"Thank you."
She walked toward the carriage as it approached the village gate.
The driver noticed her waiting and slowed down.
"Heading to the city?"
"Yes."
"Then get in. There’s still some room."
Alicia nodded and climbed into the carriage.
She found an empty seat and settled down.
A moment later, the carriage started moving again.
Alicia looked through the window as the village gradually disappeared behind her.
"At least I didn’t end up somewhere completely isolated."
She leaned back in her seat.
"Now I just need to reach the city, register as an adventurer, and figure out where I am."
Her thoughts soon turned toward her guild members.
"Hopefully, I’m somewhere near the others from my guild."
The Cosmic World had placed everyone in random starting locations. However, there were rare cases where several people would appear relatively close to one another.
Alicia could only hope that she was one of the lucky ones.
"Hopefully, I’m not too far away from everyone."
The journey continued for several hours.
Eventually, the carriage arrived at its destination.
Alicia stepped out and looked toward the city in front of her.
A large sign near the entrance read:
Silver Ore City
The city had been built near a massive mountain range rich in silver ore. Numerous mines surrounded the area, producing large quantities of silver that were processed and sold throughout the region.
Mining had become the city’s main source of income, and many of its residents worked as miners, blacksmiths, merchants, or craftsmen.
Even the city lord came from a family that had been involved in mining and metalworking for generations.
Alicia entered the city and looked around with interest.
The streets were considerably busier than the small village she had passed through earlier. Miners covered in dust walked alongside merchants, blacksmiths carried equipment between workshops, and adventurers moved through the streets with weapons and armor.
Alicia decided to deal with the most important matter first.
She needed to register as an adventurer.
After asking several people for directions, she eventually found the Adventurer Association.
The building was large and easy to recognize, with numerous adventurers entering and leaving throughout the day.
Alicia walked inside and approached the registration counter.
The registration process was relatively simple.
After providing the necessary information and completing the required procedures, she received her adventurer card.
[Adventurer Rank: F]
Alicia looked at the card for a moment before putting it away.
She sighed.
"Looks like I’m really starting from the bottom."
She glanced around the Adventurer Association.
There were quite a few adventurers inside, but she did not recognize a single one of them.
Alicia had hoped that she might encounter someone from her guild after reaching the city, but there was no sign of anyone familiar.
"So I really don’t know where the others started."
She had expected the Cosmic World to scatter them across different locations, but she had still hoped that she would at least end up somewhere close to one of them.
Alicia sighed again.
"I guess it’s just me and Mimi for now."
She summoned her bonded beast.
A small Thunder Bird appeared beside her.
The young bird was still little more than a cub, with soft feathers covering its small body.
"Mimi."
The Thunder Bird happily chirped before flying onto Alicia’s shoulder.
Alicia smiled and gently hugged its fluffy body.
"Don’t worry, Mimi."
"We’ll grow stronger together."
Mimi chirped happily in response.
Alicia smiled.
"That’s right. We’ll get stronger one step at a time."
She released Mimi and looked around the Adventurer Association once more.
Now that she had reached a human city, she had several things to take care of.
First, she needed to gather information about the surrounding region. She also needed to learn about nearby hunting grounds where she and Mimi could gain experience.
Most importantly, she needed to find out where Silver Ore City was located and determine how far away she might be from the other members of her guild.
For now, however, she would have to rely on herself and Mimi.
Alicia took a deep breath and prepared to begin her new life in the Cosmic World.
