"Do you want to see them first?"

Silence settled between the two men as they held each other’s gaze. After a moment, Tommy lowered his eyes to the phone and smiled faintly.

"You had a test done based solely on your intuition," he remarked.

"I didn’t want the question to keep bothering me," Lucian answered. "I told her I would let her see the results as soon as I received them, but she’s still asleep. I thought you might want to see them first."

Tommy nodded in understanding, tilting his head back as he released a heavy breath. But instead of answering Lucian’s question, he looked at him again.

"I’ve had the same dream countless times," he began. "Liza never knew, but every time I closed my eyes, I imagined a home where my daughter was still alive. And waking up from those dreams felt like entering a nightmare because it reminded me of the life I could never have."

"It reminded me of what I had done and of the punishment I deserved for the sinful life I had led," he continued. "I’ve always felt sorry for dragging Liza into it and causing her so much pain."

Tommy paused, a tender smile appearing on his face.

"Ashley is my daughter," he declared affectionately. "I know it."

"I don’t need a piece of paper to tell me whether she is my daughter. Blood or not, my heart has already accepted her as mine."

And nothing written on a report would ever change that.

Lucian studied Tommy and released a quiet sigh as Ashley’s determined expression somehow overlapped with his. He had never noticed it until now, but Tommy and Ashley’s eyes were remarkably similar.

"I see." Lucian nodded in understanding. "If that is your wish."

He leaned forward, picked up the phone, and slipped it back into his pocket.

At the same time, Gustav approached them.

"Master," he greeted before glancing at Tommy. "Sir Tom."

"How is the situation, Gustav?" Lucian asked as Gustav returned his attention to him.

"Everything went well. We left just before Interpol arrived," Gustav reported.

According to the reports, Interpol arrived shortly after the cleanup team finished clearing the scene. They had narrowly escaped. Interpol had also suffered heavy casualties after being caught in the explosion.

"Other than that, we’ve received the final count of our casualties. Fortunately, no one on our side died tonight, and everyone who was injured is receiving proper treatment. The Di Carpios suffered severe losses, thanks to Sir Tom’s allies," Gustav continued. "However, several people are still missing."

Tommy nodded. "We anticipated that some of Marshal’s men would try to flee, so I had men stationed at every possible exit."

That was how they had managed to intercept Marshal’s men after they fled the mansion. Initially, Tommy had thought those men had simply abandoned Marshal. It wouldn’t have surprised anyone. Even the men who had driven Carmella to the site had been caught preparing to ditch her after dropping her off.

However, after hearing Gustav’s report, Tommy realized he had been wrong.

"I see. So, they sold Marshal out, huh?" Tommy nodded in understanding. "And we caught them."

"Several people still managed to escape, and most of them were members of the Di Carpios’ top brass," Gustav added, staring at Tommy. "You suffered two casualties, sir."

"I heard." Tommy released a deep breath before shifting his gaze to Lucian. "I was told that some people confronted my men at one of the exits."

A long silence descended upon the cabin.

The weight of it was painfully familiar to both Lucian and Tommy. Leading an organization and commanding people in such a dangerous world was not for the faint of heart. They carried not only the burden of countless responsibilities but also the lives of every person who followed them.

Gustav cleared his throat, breaking the silence.

"Gin also managed to recover footage of the people responsible for their deaths."

As he spoke, he placed a folder on the table. He opened it, pulled out a zoomed-in photograph, and set it between Lucian and Tommy.

Lucian drew the photograph closer with his fingertips. As he studied it, his brows furrowed deeply. Without saying a word, he looked up at Tommy and slid the photograph toward him.

Tommy leaned forward and stared at it.

"This is..."

"Isabella Di Carpio," Gustav explained. "Before this, she was last seen on the mansion’s balcony. However, no one saw her during the raid. She didn’t leave with the Di Carpios’ men."

"We would’ve known if she had." Tommy nodded before pointing at the photograph. "Who are these people with her?"

"We haven’t identified them yet," Gustav explained. The brief footage had captured only Isabella’s face clearly. The men accompanying her were hooded and armed. "Whoever they are, we’re certain they’re not members of the Di Carpio family."

Another silence settled over the cabin as Lucian and Tommy studied the photograph.

"Whoever took her wanted something from her," Lucian murmured, reaching the same conclusion as Tommy and Gustav. "The question is, why would they need Isabella?"

Isabella was nothing more than the pampered princess of the Di Carpio family. She knew about their wealth and the things their money could buy, but when it came to running the business—or the uglier side of their operations—she knew nothing.

Ashley knew far more than she did.

In other words, no one could possibly guess what Isabella had to offer.

"Either way, the Di Carpio family had been rotting from the inside out," Tommy remarked. "And this attack exposed it."

Many of Marshal’s elite soldiers had tried to abandon him, and several had even succeeded in escaping. It only proved that Marshal had never possessed as much control over his own family as he had believed.

"However, we’ve already gotten what we wanted," Tommy added, shifting his gaze between Lucian and Gustav. "It’s over. Allow yourselves to rest."

With that, Tommy pushed himself to his feet and stepped into the aisle. He looked down at Lucian.

"I’ll check on Julio," he said before giving Gustav a nod.

Tommy didn’t linger. Using his cane and the aisle seats for support, he slowly made his way through the cabin.

Lucian watched him leave before turning to Gustav.

"Report to me again after you’ve rested."

After all, it was over.

They still had a long flight ahead of them, and it would be best for everyone to get some rest.

"Yes, Master." Gustav dipped his head slightly before turning around and walking away.

Once Lucian was alone, his gaze returned to the photograph on the table. He studied Isabella’s face, noticing the panic in her expression. She didn’t appear to have been physically forced to accompany them, but she clearly looked unsettled.

"Why would these people need a piece of garbage like her?" he wondered aloud.

Lost in thought, Lucian felt the weight of his phone in his pocket and pulled it out. When he unlocked it, the file Tommy had declined to view was still open.

"She’ll be thrilled," he muttered.

He was about to close the file when his finger accidentally tapped the link.

A sudden sense of unease crawled up his spine as his eyes instinctively darted toward the bottom of the report. His brows drew together when his gaze landed on the result.

"What they need from her..." he repeated under his breath, his eyes glinting as he slowly lifted his gaze. "...isn’t the right question."

The real question was what they could accomplish through Isabella.

And the answer was right there in the result displayed on his phone.

It was... Negative.
