My Second Marriage with the Mafia Kingpin
Chapter 530: Time To Prepare For WarAshley and everyone stayed on the farm for only a few days. After all, she and Lucian had gone straight back to work after Marshal’s downfall. They had spent some time with Liza and Tommy, but it hadn’t been enough for them to truly recharge.
So, even though Ashley was mainly there for work—aside from wanting to check on everyone’s well-being—it still felt almost like a vacation. She enjoyed what she was doing, especially since Liza was also there to check on the seedlings and other plants.
They enjoyed their time with everyone as much as possible until it was finally time to leave.
"Are you sure both of you will be fine?" Ashley stood in front of Tommy and Liza, holding both their hands.
Liza and Tommy smiled at each other before setting their eyes on their daughter.
"We’ll be back," Tommy assured her with a nod. "Your mom and I just need to arrange a few things. We still have things we left behind back home."
Liza, on the other hand, let out a deep breath. "It’ll be very quick. Who knows? We might be catching a flight back tomorrow."
And that wasn’t impossible.
They hadn’t even left yet, but they already wanted to come back and be with their daughter.
If they could, Liza and Tommy would stay with Ashley permanently. They wanted to look after their daughter and grandson. However, the couple had originally come to the country only to celebrate Ashley’s milestone with her.
Even though they had already decided to relocate wherever Ashley lived, they still had important matters to settle back home.
The couple, after all, had businesses. Liza’s plants were there as well, including several important specimens crucial to her research.
"Don’t worry about us," Tommy reassured Ashley. "We’ll be very careful. Julio is going to be with us as well."
Julio, who was standing some distance away, nodded when the three of them turned in his direction.
Ashley smacked her lips before facing her parents again.
"I’ll miss you," she muttered.
That almost earned a sob from Liza.
"Oh, dear." Liza held back her tears as she pulled Ashley into her embrace. "Should I just stay, hmm? I’ll redo all my research. Tom, I don’t want to miss another second of our daughter’s life."
Tommy smiled in defeat and looked at Ashley. "Should we do that?"
"I don’t care anymore," Liza muttered, tightening her embrace around Ashley. "Nothing is more important than our time with her."
Ashley bit her lip. Her eyes grew a little teary while her cheeks flushed. Glancing at Tommy, she could tell the man was just as vulnerable.
Just a little more convincing, and neither of them would leave at all.
Ashley let out a sharp breath. "Just come back as soon as you can."
Liza reluctantly loosened her embrace, allowing Ashley to look at both of them.
Even though Ashley felt like crying, her heart was full.
"Or I’ll come visit as soon as I can," Ashley offered. "I don’t want you throwing everything away or leaving everything behind because of me."
"Why?" Liza tugged on her hand, frowning. "You’re my daughter. I’ll drop everything and leave everything behind for you."
Tommy nodded, resting his hands on his wife’s shoulders. "Your mom is right. We’ll drop everything for you, and you can’t ask us otherwise."
"That’s not what I mean..." Ashley pursed her lips, her heart swelling with happiness. "I mean..."
She trailed off before huffing and smiling at them.
"I don’t want all my parents’ hard work to go to waste. If you’re going to move here, I don’t want you worrying about everything you left back home."
Liza and Tommy sighed as they stared at their thoughtful daughter.
If it were solely up to them, they would’ve stayed.
However, they didn’t want Ashley worrying about them either. Besides, it was better to settle everything now so that once they relocated, there would be nothing left for them to worry about.
They also couldn’t simply abandon their home.
The possibility of the worst happening was still there. If it ever came to that, Tommy and Liza wanted to make sure Ashley, Primo, and Lucian would always have somewhere safe to go.
"I’ll still miss you." Liza hugged Ashley once more before Tommy took his turn, wrapping his daughter in a tight embrace.
Once they were done, Primo jumped in and joined them.
"My boy." Tommy ruffled Primo’s hair while Liza crouched and wrapped the boy in her arms.
"My baby. I’ll miss you even though I’ll only be gone for a few days."
Ashley and Tommy chuckled as they watched Liza practically cradle Primo like an infant.
But when Tommy noticed Lucian from the corner of his eye, he glanced at the man.
Tommy smiled subtly and stepped away from his wife and daughter.
"Take care on your way," Lucian remarked, offering Tommy his hand.
Tommy took it, gripping Lucian’s hand firmly. "We’ll be back once we’ve made all the necessary arrangements."
Lucian nodded, still holding Tommy’s hand.
Even when the older man loosened his grip, Lucian didn’t let go.
Tommy furrowed his brows and met his eyes.
"I made my decision," Lucian said, looking Tommy straight in the eye. "As tempting as leaving sounds, I can’t afford to do that yet."
Tommy studied the determination in Lucian’s eyes before a smile slowly crept onto his face.
"I expected you to say that," he replied with a light chuckle, nodding at Lucian. "If that’s what you’ve decided, let me know how I can help."
Lucian smiled. "Thank you."
"I trust you, son." Tommy raised his other hand and patted Lucian’s shoulder. "I trust you."
With that, the couple lingered with the family of three until it was almost time to board their plane.
Ashley, Primo, and Lucian sent them off with smiles, with the mother and son waving their arms enthusiastically.
Once Tommy, Liza, and Julio disappeared from sight, Lucian, Ashley, and Primo looked at one another.
They smiled.
Then, they turned and walked out of the airport, holding Primo’s hands between them.
Liza and Tommy would come back.
But while they were away...
Ashley and Lucian had to prepare for the war Memphis was starting.
And by that, it meant...
"I’ll see you later?" Lucian asked as their car pulled over in front of Ashley’s office.
Ashley smiled at him and nodded. "Mhm. See you later."
She planted a kiss on Primo’s forehead before climbing out of the car.
Ashley didn’t look back.
She marched into the building and headed straight to where her men were gathered.
As soon as she pushed the door open, everyone inside paused and turned toward her.
"Let’s go, ladies!" She slapped her palm against the door. "Time to prepare for war."
Red and Khan looked at each other.
Everyone exchanged looks except Tank, who was already rising to his feet after Ashley’s first three words.
"Shit—" Red clicked his tongue and quickly jumped to his feet, refusing to let Tank get ahead of him.
Khan did the same.
Then the rest followed.
As always, Ashley didn’t bother telling them where they were headed.
They simply followed her into the lift.
When it finally stopped, the doors slid open, revealing the familiar wall concealing the entrance to her secret office.

As for Lucian, once he arrived at Black Dragon Corporation, he left Primo in his office before heading straight to a conference room where several important figures were already gathered.
He stopped beside the seat at the head of the table, his sharp eyes sweeping across everyone in the room.
His expression remained unreadable.
Then, his voice echoed through the silence.
"Let’s begin."
