My Skills Can Evolve Infinitely in a Game-Like World
Chapter 119: Questioning AnnaAurelius wandered through the city, his gaze subconsciously falling on his now empty wallet.
He had never expected this.
A mere lunch and a cup of coffee had emptied the amount of money an ordinary family would earn in a year. Even for him, it was a substantial amount.
Mia... was truly capable.
Recalling the look she had given him before they parted, as though she still hadn’t had enough but was too embarrassed to ask for more, Aurelius let out a sigh.
’I must search for a suitable Class for her in the future. Perhaps I can present it to her as a gift for her father’s previous help.’
Cook? No.
Aurelius felt that such a Class was unworthy of Mia.
The World-Swallowing Serpent would be far more suitable for her.
Although countless thoughts raced through his mind, Aurelius’ footsteps did not slow down.
Only a few minutes after separating from Mia, he found himself at the entrance of a large complex of buildings.
Ernst Academy.
It was evening.
The Academy looked desolate.
Most of the students had already returned to their homes. Only some staff could be seen weaving in and out of the buildings.
Yet from the traces of black mist flowing out from the library’s top floor, Aurelius knew that the person he had come to see had yet to leave.
Realizing this, his footsteps subconsciously quickened.
--
"I thought you had forgotten about me. You haven’t even paid me a visit since the last time."
"Tsk. Tsk." Anna clicked her tongue, shaking her head.
"You’re truly a heartless man. You’re ready to throw me away after you’re done using me."
"You... Sigh..."
Accompanying these complaints was a cloud of smoke rushing toward Aurelius’ face.
He instinctively reached out to clear the air, while cursing inwardly.
These words... were too suggestive. Almost explicit.
If anyone didn’t know any better, they would greatly misunderstand the relationship between the two.
Especially if they saw Anna’s state, with the upper part of her white shirt unbuttoned and her feet resting on the table, leaving her thighs for all to see, Aurelius’ reputation would be ruined forever!
Countless female Players would go crazy!
"Professor, please keep things professional." Aurelius couldn’t help but complain as he continued waving the gray smoke away.
Unfortunately, Anna did not seem to hear his words.
She took another puff of her cigarette, exhaling in his direction once again.
"Alright. How come you have the time to visit me?"
"Kid. I know what you’re thinking. You must have run into some kind of trouble and wish to ask for my help."
"However, you’re unfortunate. If you want me to help you, you’ll have to pay a heavy price. Especially after you betrayed me like that."
Professor Anna’s expression screamed, "I know you wouldn’t come to me without a reason."
Her face and words left Aurelius embarrassed.
Mostly because her words contained a trace of truth.
Although Anna had not shown any malice toward him and had even helped him several times, Aurelius had rarely taken the initiative to interact with her.
Even the Potions he refined were handed over to her through World_Builder, without Aurelius ever visiting the academy.
The reason was simple.
Anna was a Rank 3 Witch and a suspected high-level member of the Sun Church.
If possible, Aurelius didn’t want to have any dealings with such a powerful person. That was true even after he obtained the Sea God’s Trident.
Unfortunately, given the recent events, he had no choice but to come here today.
Steadying himself, Aurelius ignored her teasing.
He smiled faintly.
"Professor. If I’m not wrong, you should be a member of some extraordinary organization, right?" he asked, though he gave her no time to answer.
"Those Potions I refined must have been handed over to your superiors. After all, I doubt you have any use for them."
Aurelius did not specifically mention the Sun Church, choosing to keep things simple.
Even so, Professor Anna’s eyes narrowed. She took a closer look at Aurelius, her gaze becoming more piercing.
After a moment, she replied.
"You’re right."
She didn’t deny it.
"But what does this have to do with your visit?" she asked, returning back to her usual casual attitude.
As if that was not enough, she deliberately exhaled once more, sending another cloud of smoke toward his face.
"Cough, cough."
Aurelius nearly choked. He had the urge to hurl a Fireball at Anna’s face.
Thankfully, he managed to regain his composure in time.
"Since that’s the case, you must have made great contributions through the Potions I refined."
Anna nodded again.
Seeing this, Aurelius struck while the iron was hot.
"Since that’s the case, you can be considered to owe me a favor..."
"I don’t ask you to help me or give me any treasures. All I ask is that you answer some of my questions."
Anna gave an "as expected" look.
She had been wondering why Aurelius had suddenly decided to visit her at this time, and why he had gone to such lengths with his words.
Now, it seemed that this had been his purpose from the beginning.
Anna grumbled inwardly.
She knew that whatever information Aurelius needed was bound to be troublesome.
Unfortunately, she also knew that he was right.
The Potions he had refined had greatly helped her. They were not only large in number but also high in quality.
Several Awakeners had used them to make significant progress.
She and the organization behind her truly owed Aurelius a favor.
More importantly, Anna wanted him to get him to keep refining Potions for her! Refusing such a "simple" request went against that plan.
Silence shrouded the room.
Only the sound of Professor Anna inhaling on her cigarette echoed throughout the room.
It was several seconds later that she finally broke the silence.
"Go ahead. Ask."
"However, don’t expect me to answer all your questions."
"At most, I’ll tell you what you’re qualified to know."
Aurelius completely ignored the latter part of her words.
With shining eyes, he went straight to the point.
"I’ve recently learned that something is going to happen in the Imperial City. Several Awakeners have already gathered."
"Professor, do you know why that is?"
