My Skills Can Evolve Infinitely in a Game-Like World
Chapter 144: Demigod’s Divinity[Divine Vessel: A Vessel forged by consuming several high-Ranked extraordinary materials by a powerful Awakener. It can be used to carry Divinity and summon Divine Phantoms to fight.]
[The more times it is used, the quicker the Vessel will break, until finally, it shatters forever.]
...
Divine Vessel. A carrier of Divinity!
The description confirmed Aurelius’ earlier guess.
He finally understood why this golden cube had given rise to such an overwhelming yearning from the depths of his body.
Divinity!
This was the power of the Gods.
More importantly, it was the main advancement material when Aurelius advanced to a Rank 2 Awakener.
The reason he had managed to become a Taboo Arcanist was that he had absorbed a trace of the Lost Sun’s Divinity.
Now, he could tell that he could absorb the Divinity stored within the Divine Vessel to further strengthen himself.
Sensing this, Aurelius couldn’t help but let out a hiss. His expression turned solemn.
It was already terrifying that Divinity could be used as an advancement material, worthy of the title "Taboo."
Now that he had learned that he, a mere Rank 2 Awakener, could absorb the power of Gods to strengthen himself, he finally understood the terrifying nature of Arcanists.
It was no wonder that they had long since disappeared from the course of history.
Most likely, they had been hunted down by every deity and their believers—righteous or not. After all, no being would like a Class that could strengthen itself by devouring their power!
Aurelius subconsciously shuddered at that realization.
For a moment, he had the illusion that he was being watched, with countless eyes focusing on him, ready to strike and punish him for his blasphemy.
Thankfully, he soon recovered.
He understood that the Gods of this world had much more important things to deal with. From Selene, he knew that they and their Churches were investigating the Players and their peculiar abilities.
Compared to Players, he appeared much more normal.
’Of course, even if they weren’t busy and I had already attracted their attention, there would be nothing I could do.’
With that thought, Aurelius felt strangely calm.
He was prepared to put the Divine Vessel away, intending to consume it together with the Mutated Silverheart Lotus once he had taken stock of everything.
But just then, he discovered something.
The Divine Vessel... had disappeared from his hands!
Unknowingly, it had appeared... inside his mouth.
Crunch! Crunch!
Aurelius subconsciously chewed on it, the fragments flowing down his throat.
Moments later, they had reached his stomach.
A formidable power rose from the fragments. A force was born and struck everything around them, seemingly planning to shatter his body from within.
But just as they began to riot, his Spirit moved on its own.
It began to suppress them, enveloping them in a crystalline film.
Another power accompanied it, of a similar level to the Divinity within the Divine Vessel.
It was the Divinity of the Lost Sun!
More precisely, the corrupted Divinity absorbed and assimilated by the Taboo Arcanist Class.
Under the coordination of Aurelius’ Spirit and this corrupted Divinity, the golden cube was unable to offer any resistance.
Soon, the fragments stopped fighting back, falling into eternal silence.
The three powers clashing inside Aurelius slowly faded away.
He had little time to react. Lines of text soon flooded his vision.
...
[You’ve absorbed the Divinity of a Demigod!]
"Gained: 3 Skill Points, 10000 EXP."
"Ding!"
"Due to absorbing Divinity, Divine Intervention has experienced certain changes!"
"Ding!"
"Due to absorbing Divinity, Ocean’s Wrath has experienced certain changes!"
...
A trace of surprise flashed across Aurelius’ face.
He hadn’t expected that absorbing the Divinity would cause such great changes.
He could sense that it was not a matter of mere words.
His abilities had indeed undergone a transformation, whether it was the Ocean’s Wrath Skill or the Divine Intervention Talent. It was similar to when he consumed Skill Points to upgrade his skills, though it also appeared fundamentally different.
Of course, if he wanted to learn what that transformation entailed, he would have to investigate for himself, as their descriptions had remained the same.
For now, Aurelius didn’t choose to do so. He knew it would be quite time-consuming.
His eyes moved toward the very top of the many notifications.
"Demigod..." he muttered this familiar term, which had previously never appeared but had now appeared twice in a short period of time.
He understood that the Divine Phantom that had fought against Ocean’s Wrath had come from this Demigod.
This made him both apprehensive and relieved.
Apprehensive because a Demigod possessed extraordinary power that he could not fathom at the moment, let alone contend with.
Relieved because the other party was not a true God.
’It seems that the Thieves’ Order is different from the Sunless Sect. At the very least, they don’t have the protection of a true deity...’ Aurelius nodded, guessing at some of this organization’s power.
He organized his thoughts.
Several seconds later, his gaze moved toward the final spoil of this whole ordeal.
It was something only he knew about, yet something that appeared to be the greatest opportunity in the entire forest—save for what lay at its core.
With difficult-to-suppress excitement, Aurelius picked up the unknown seed.
It was golden in color, half the size of an ordinary human palm. It very much resembled an ornament, shining brightly like a golden gem while resting inside his palm.
This was something Aurelius had long since noticed and should not have surprised him.
Yet now, under the glow of the golden sun, the seed looked even more extraordinary.
It seemed to embody the concept of beauty itself.
For a moment, Aurelius couldn’t help but become dazed, as though enamored by the seed’s appearance.
Fortunately, his Spirit surged, causing him to snap out of it. His consciousness returned to reality.
His eyes, fixed on the seed, flashed with a trace of curiosity.
This seed... was truly weird. Worthy of being an item that dozens of Rank 2 monsters and a Thief could not detect.
Its ability to make him, a Rank 2 Awakener, lose his composure based solely on its appearance was even more alarming.
’Let’s see what it is...’ Aurelius muttered inwardly, unable to contain his curiosity any longer.
He concentrated on the mysterious item.
Immediately, lines of text materialized in his field of vision.
