The sand began to rise in several directions.

Liam pointed toward the approaching worm.

"Amber!"

Amber turned just as one of the creatures emerged from the sand.

Amber took the attack head-on, and the impact sent her sliding several meters across the sand.

But unlike before, she didn’t seem overwhelmed.

She smiled.

"You’re smaller now."

Amber grabbed one of the worm’s jaws.

With a powerful movement, she twisted its body and slammed it against the ground.

The creature writhed.

Amber struck it again, and this time its flesh split open.

"It works!"

One of the hunters shouted.

The others quickly noticed the same thing.

The individual worms were weaker.

Their bodies were smaller, and their attacks were less destructive.

The hunters could injure them much more easily.

But there were six.

And that was the problem.

One worm attacked from the front.

Another appeared behind the hunters.

A third emerged directly beneath Evan’s platform.

Wayne moved it immediately.

The worm’s jaws snapped shut in the air.

Evan fired as he fell toward another platform.

An arrow pierced one of the worm’s eyes.

"Nice!"

Evan smiled.

Then another worm appeared behind him.

[Lydia: Behind you.]

Liam reacted immediately.

"Evan! Move!"

Evan jumped.

The worm passed beneath him.

A platform created by Wayne appeared just in time for Evan to land on it.

"Thanks!"

Wayne didn’t respond. His eyes remained fixed on the battlefield.

The strategy was working.

The hunters were constantly changing their positions.

The worms were having difficulty predicting where the next attack would come from.

But Liam noticed something else.

One of the worms was hit by Don Rouch.

He drove his new golden spear into the side of one of the worms.

The creature shrieked.

At that exact moment, another worm several dozen meters away turned its body.

Liam narrowed his eyes.

’Why?’

He watched carefully.

Don Rouch attacked again. The worm in front of him recoiled, and the other worms moved.

Not randomly.

Together.

For only a fraction of a second.

But they moved at the same time.

One of the small slimes made a tiny hop.

"Keep watching them."

"Let me know whenever several of them move at the same time."

[Lydia: Okay.]

The battle continued.

Amber destroyed another worm’s eye.

Don Rouch pierced another through the side.

Wayne continued moving his platforms.

The other hunters attacked from constantly changing positions.

Millie used her Taunt.

"HEY!"

One of the worms turned toward her.

Millie immediately began running, and the worm followed her.

Then another one tried to intercept her.

Millie jumped over it.

"Not this time!"

She struck its back with her shield.

But then all six worms stopped.

For a brief moment, they all moved together.

Liam noticed it.

"Wait."

The worms turned, their bodies changing direction almost simultaneously.

Then they all sank beneath the sand.

Liam’s eyes widened.

’Why did they do that?’

The surface became still.

Then he saw something.

A small ripple.

But it wasn’t near any of the worms.

It was in the center of the battlefield.

Liam pointed.

"There!"

Wayne looked down.

"What?"

"The sand."

Nothing happened.

Then another ripple appeared.

’There’s something underneath.’

The worms emerged again.

This time, Liam didn’t focus on their bodies.

He watched the sand beneath them.

Every time the worms took damage almost simultaneously, the sand moved.

Every time they attacked at the same time, something beneath them moved.

’It has to be some kind of core.’

The idea appeared in his mind.

’There has to be something connecting them.’

But he couldn’t see it.

[Lydia: Liam!]

Lydia’s message appeared.

[Lydia: Honey, they’re moving together again.]

"Everyone!"

The hunters turned toward him.

"We need to hit them at the same time!"

Amber immediately understood.

"All six?"

"Yes!"

Don Rouch smiled.

Wayne raised a hand, and the platforms began moving.

"Everyone, follow my positions."

The hunters spread out.

One platform appeared above the first worm.

Another behind the second.

Another beside the third.

The remaining hunters positioned themselves around the others.

Liam watched.

’Come on.’

The worms began to move.

"Wait..."

Their bodies sank into the sand.

Liam watched the surface.

Six ripples.

"NOW!"

Amber charged the first worm.

Don Rouch attacked the second.

Evan fired at the third.

The remaining hunters attacked the other three.

Wayne moved the platforms at the exact moment the attacks landed.

Six strikes.

Six screams.

The worms writhed violently.

The sand beneath them exploded.

Liam’s eyes widened.

"There!"

Something enormous moved beneath the surface.

The sand began collapsing toward the center.

A gigantic structure emerged from the depths.

It wasn’t flesh.

Nor was it bone.

It looked like an enormous crystal buried inside the creature’s body, but it pulsed with a strange energy, surrounded by veins of dark flesh that connected it to each of the worms.

Liam could only see it for a moment.

’The core.’

The worms began shrieking.

Their bodies desperately tried to cover that area.

"Don’t let them hide it!"

Amber attacked again.

Don Rouch pierced one of the worms.

Evan and the other ranged hunters fired relentlessly.

Wayne moved the platforms faster than ever.

The worms tried to protect the core.

But every time one moved, another hunter attacked it.

Liam watched the chaos.

This was his chance.

But there was a problem.

The core was still partially covered.

He needed a clean shot.

His hand slowly moved toward his pistol, loaded with one final bullet made from the gem of the Rank F dungeon.

The same kind of bullet capable of absorbing energy.

The same kind he had used alongside Lydia’s Laser Shot.

Lydia continued moving around the battlefield.

Watching.

Helping.

The worms changed positions.

The core began sinking beneath the sand again.

"No!"

Liam raised his pistol.

"Keep them exposed!"

Amber and Don Rouch attacked at the same time.

Wayne moved two platforms directly above the worms.

Evan fired.

The other hunters did the same.

The six creatures writhed.

The core emerged again.

This time Liam could see more of it.

It was enormous.

A strange crystalline structure pulsing with energy deep within the boss’s body.

Liam steadied his breathing.

’One chance.’

The battlefield was chaos around him.

Amber attacked one worm.

Don Rouch fought another.

Wayne continued moving the platforms.

Evan and the other hunters fired constantly.

The six worms desperately tried to protect the exposed core.

Liam took aim.

The barrel of his pistol lined up directly with the glowing structure beneath the sand.

He took a deep breath.

Lydia sent him one final message.

[Lydia: Honey.]

Liam smiled.

"Use your Laser Shot, straight into my shot, honey."

The worms began to move.

The hunters continued attacking.

The core became completely exposed.

Liam pulled the trigger.
