"For the summer camp paper proposal," Qi Yu replied, popping a piece of beef into her mouth.

Li Dong’s interest was piqued, so he asked.

"What’s the topic?"

Qi Yu put down her chopsticks, considering how to explain it in the simplest terms.

"Simply put, it’s about figuring out what element an atom is on a single-atom level."

She took a napkin, pulled a pen from her bag, and sketched a sharp tip pointing at a row of small circles.

’Okay, I get that,’ he thought.

"For example, they’d deliberately spread a certain element very sparsely, then work backward and say, ’Hey, that bump in the image must be it.’"

Qi Yu shook her head.

"That method is neither rigorous nor universally applicable."

She added a diagonal line to the napkin, representing an X-ray.
