My Succubus Harem System In The Reverse World
Chapter 25: Telemetry Lies and Blushing EartechChapter 25: Chapter 25: Telemetry Lies and Blushing Eartech
"Pick it up."
Gianna tossed a wooden practice sword at my chest without giving me a proper warning.
I caught it by the hilt and twirled it once in my grip to get a feel for the weight. It was surprisingly heavy for a practice weapon and balanced to mimic a real blade.
"Are we switching to armed combat already?"
"You need to know how to parry."
She stepped back and dropped into a flawless, disciplined offensive stance.
"A dungeon monster won’t care if you have your core perfectly stabilized if it swings claws the size of your head at you. Defend yourself."
She rushed me again, closing the distance in a blur and swinging the wooden blade in a wide sweeping arc aimed right at my neck.
I didn’t even need to stress about it.
My eyes tracked the rapid movement flawlessly, so I could predict the exact trajectory of the strike before it even came close to my shoulder.
I simply raised my sword and angled it just right to deflect the blow, letting her own momentum carry her right past me.
Tonguing Jenna last night definitely helped.
The stats I siphoned from the guildmaster were practically carrying me through this entire grueling session.
Without that initial boost, Gianna would have easily wiped the floor with me using just her basic footwork.
But right now, even her fastest and most aggressive strikes felt manageable, and I could see the subtle shifts in her shoulders before she even swung.
"Stop smiling and strike back!"
She huffed and pivoted gracefully on her heel to deliver a rapid thrust toward my ribs.
"I’m just enjoying the view, Captain."
I sidestepped the thrust and tapped the flat of my blade against hers to easily redirect the attack into the empty air.
"Take this seriously! You’re going to get yourself killed showing off like that."
"I am perfectly serious. My strategy is to let you exhaust yourself."
"I have enough stamina to keep swinging for hours!"
We kept at it for another two full hours.
The training room echoed with the clack of wood striking wood. Gianna was relentless, pushing me across the bouncy mat with a flurry of high-level techniques I didn’t even know the names of.
She tried sweeping my legs, she tried feinting high to strike low, and she even tried using the mirrored walls to mask her approach.
But I just kept weaving, parrying, and stepping out of her range.
I didn’t have the formal training to launch a coordinated counterattack yet, but my stats guaranteed that she couldn’t land a clean hit on me either.
"You are deliberately holding back."
Gianna accused me as she finally took a step back and wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead with the back of her wrist. Her breathing was getting heavier, and her chest rose and fell rapidly under her combat top.
"I told you, I’m a lover, not a fighter."
"You are an idiot, is what you are."
"An idiot who hasn’t been hit a single time in over two hours."
Gianna gritted her teeth. She was clearly annoyed by my accurate observation. She launched herself forward again into a flurry of overhead strikes that finally forced me to actually use both hands to block.
I could feel her getting frustrated, and her strikes carried more weight than before.
Just as she reared back for an ambitious spinning strike, the door to the training room slid open with a chime.
We both froze and turned our heads toward the entrance while our wooden swords were still locked together in mid-air.
Jenna walked in, looking every bit the high-powered and untouchable guildmaster. Her hair was tied up in a bun, and she was wearing a white overcoat.
In her hand was an advanced tablet, swiping the screen a few times before looking up to acknowledge us.
"How is it going in here?"
Jenna offered a professional smile that didn’t quite reach her calculating eyes.
"Very great."
I replied and lowered my practice sword to lean casually on the pommel like a walking cane.
"Gianna is a wonderful teacher. Very hands-on with her methods."
Gianna shot me a lethal glare and quickly lowered her own weapon so she could step away from me to create a very respectable distance.
"He is undisciplined."
Gianna kept her tone strictly professional for her mother.
"He relies on his raw reaction speed and flatly refuses to commit to a proper offensive strike."
"Is that so?"
Jenna’s smile widened just a fraction, and her eyes flicked over to me with obvious amusement.
"Well, I noticed your results."
I blinked and suddenly felt a tiny spike of confusion cut through my confident mood.
"How?"
I looked around the empty ceiling.
"Did you install hidden cameras in here?"
"Cameras are outdated, Revien."
Jenna tapped her tablet again to bring up a holographic chart that floated right above the screen, displaying two distinct and pulsing digital silhouettes.
"This room keeps track of absolutely everything. It monitors your precise body movement, your fluctuating body heat, and your mana output to give us a proper and comprehensive result of your training progress."
My blood suddenly ran cold.
Body movement. Fluctuating body heat.
I froze as the implication hit me like a speeding truck. I slowly turned my head toward Gianna.
She was already looking away and staring fixedly at a highly uninteresting spot on the far mirrored wall. She wouldn’t meet my eyes at all while she kept her posture stiff and rigid.
But the very tips of her ears and her cheeks were burning a highly visible and undeniable shade of pink.
She knew.
The realization clicked into place and completely reframed what happened earlier during our sparring match.
When we were tangled up on the floor, when my face was hovering mere inches from hers, and the tension was so thick, she knew the room’s sensitive environmental sensors were recording every single spike in our body heat and our rapidly accelerating heart rates.
She knew her mother was likely sitting in a private control room upstairs and watching the telemetry data go crazy on a digital monitor.
That was why she didn’t move forward. That was why she abruptly pushed me away and demanded I get up despite the obvious mutual attraction practically begging us to cross the line.
She wasn’t just being shy or guarded.
Gianna just didn’t want to share our first private moment with everyone watching our vitals.
I swallowed hard and desperately tried to keep my expression neutral as I looked back at Jenna.
The guildmaster was still smiling pleasantly, but there was a knowing glint shining in her eyes that told me she had definitely seen the telemetry spike and she knew exactly what caused it.
