Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Sweet and Swollen Boundary

Our kiss didn’t stop.

I was holding her against the mirror, her legs locked around my waist. A chime echoed in my head, isolated from the outside world.

[Energy Transfer Initiated...]

[Minor permanent stat gain: Strength +1, Vitality +1]

This wasn’t my active skill.

I hadn’t triggered any specific ability or deliberately pulled at her mana. It was just my inherent Succubus nature working in the background, siphoning the heated energy we were generating and converting it into permanent growth.

It was like what happened with Jenna, just a steady trickle of power flowing into us both from simple physical contact.

My mouth trailed away from her lips, moving down her jawline to press open-mouthed kisses along her neck.

I felt her pulse racing against my tongue and found a sensitive spot right below her ear that made her whole body twitch in my arms.

"Ngh..."

"Tell me to stop."

"Stop," she moaned, her fingers digging tighter into my shoulders.

"No, don’t."

Instead of pushing me away, she leaned down, opening her mouth against my shoulder.

Then, she bit my neck.

Not hard enough to draw blood, and it wasn’t harsh enough to leave a mark, but there was an undeniable possessiveness to the action that showed in it.

A sudden shudder ripped right through my body, sending a fresh wave of heat straight down my spine.

She pulled my head back up so our mouths could meet again.

We kissed hard. Very hard. It was a messy, frantic exchange of breath and heat that blurred the lines of who was leading who. Her hands framed my face, her thumbs tracing my jawline until her left thumb slipped right between my parted lips.

It was meant to hold me away.

I didn’t hesitate. I sucked on it.

Gianna gasped, her eyes snapping wide open in shock. The intimate sensation sent a flush straight across her face, though she wasn’t blushing out of simple modesty anymore.

"We should stop," she breathed out.

I slowly released her thumb, letting my eyes meet hers, and then I leaned in to give her one final kiss.

She met my mouth with the same frantic energy, holding on for just a second longer before we finally separated.

A glistening line of saliva connected our lips for a brief moment before it broke.

I gently lowered her down, making sure her foot hit the bouncy mat safely before I let go of her waist.

She immediately took a step back, her hands flying up to frantically arrange her combat dress and fix the messy strands of her blue-tipped ponytail. She wiped the back of her hand across her swollen mouth, avoiding my gaze.

I did the same, running a hand through my messy violet hair to push it out of my eyes.

My heart was still beating fast, and I could still taste the sweet on my tongue.

"I have work," she announced abruptly, walking over to the bench to grab her duffel bag.

"A dungeon?"

"Support."

Gianna stopped near the door, hesitating for a long second before she turned around and walked right back to me.

She didn’t say anything at first. She just reached out and started adjusting my shirt, straightening the collar that she had ruined just a few minutes ago.

Her fingers brushed lightly against my collarbone, and I could feel the heat radiating from her skin.

"We haven’t established anything," Gianna stated firmly.

"I know."

"I don’t bind you with any rules," she continued, her voice taking on that professional tone again, even though her hands were trembling very slightly.

"Your class is what it is. I am perfectly aware of the mechanics, and I know exactly what you need to do to grow your potential. So, you don’t owe me any explanations, and I don’t expect you to change your progression path."

I looked down at her, hearing the unspoken words hiding right beneath her tough speech.

She didn’t want to admit what just happened actually meant something to her. She didn’t want to control me by making it official, because trying to claim her with my skill set was a guaranteed way to get her heart broken.

She was trying to build a protective wall before I even had the chance to leave.

"Are you trying to convince me, or are you trying to convince yourself?"

She finally looked up, her red eyes flashing with a mix of stubborn pride and genuine vulnerability.

"I’m being realistic, Revien."

"You didn’t bind me with anything," I pointed out, letting my hands rest loosely on my hips.

"You are just pretending this was a casual sparring accident so you don’t have to admit you actually liked it."

"I’m not just another number for your power."

"I never said you were."

"We shouldn’t have done this."

"Don’t say that."

"Then what am I?"

"You are the first person who made me feel like I actually belong in this crazy place," I answered, the words slipping out before I could even filter them.

"I don’t know all the rules yet. I don’t know how my class is going to evolve. But know this. I’m not throwing you to the side just because I want to level up."

Gianna stared at me for a long moment, searching my face to see if I was lying.

Whatever she found there must have satisfied her, because her tense shoulders finally relaxed just a fraction.

"I want to take it slow."

I reached up, gently pressing my hand against her cheek one last time.

"Slow it is then."

She nodded once, leaning into my palm for a split second before she pulled away, turned on her heel, and quickly left the training room.

I stood there for a long time, just breathing in the lingering scent of her perfume.

The taste of her didn’t leave me one bit, and my blood was still rushing with a highly addictive energy.

I tilted my head back, looking around the empty room and staring at the small, concealed environmental sensors embedded in the ceiling.

Jenna is probably up there watching me make out with her daughter.

How long had she been monitoring the feed?

Did she see the entire thing from the moment I pushed her against the wall, or did she only tune in when the room’s temperature spiked?

I really didn’t know, and honestly, I don’t really care.

Before I could dwell on it any further, an amplified voice echoed straight through the room’s hidden speakers, cutting through the silence.

"Rev. We need to take some tests. Please come to the observation room."
