My Succubus Harem System In The Reverse World

Chapter 48: Sucking the Apex Predator’s Core

Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Sucking the Apex Predator’s Core

Rei was panting hard.

The twin axes had already dissolved back into her blood and returned to the sealed cuts on her palms, but the echo of their weight still lingered in her arms. The chamber smelled of pulverized stone, iron, and the faint mineral tang of the green water. Her body felt too light and too heavy at the same time.

This whole situation with the guy standing in front of her was something she had never expected to experience.

Rei Lawless was one of the few whose mother had been partnered with a support ever since she was born.

In Sector 7, that alone carried terrifying privilege.

The man who stood beside her mother, Sonia Lawless, and a handful of other women was never as strong as someone like Draven, but he had been useful enough to train her.

With the weight of his reputation, her mother had brought many supporters to the guild over the years so Rei could practice against them.

Every single one of them drained too fast.

Her skill, Blood Manipulation, was never only about forming weapons.

Years ago, she had discovered that tasting the blood of others let her pull a small fraction of their power into herself.

From that day forward, every support her mother arranged followed the same pattern.

She would demand a duel. She would hurt them badly enough to draw blood. Then she would take what she needed.

The borrowed strength always ran out. Their cores were simply too small. The power they could give her was never enough to match the expectations the guild and her family had placed on her since childhood.

Rei had shown great potential when she was young.

Too much potential, some whispered.

Both the guild and the Lawless name had waited for her to become something exceptional.

But without anyone who could truly keep up with her training, the fire had slowly died.

The academy had started to look pointless.

What was the use of sitting in classrooms and running scripted simulations when no partner could push her past the wall she had already hit?

That was what she thought.

Until the kiss with Revien.

His support was different.

Other men possessed large cores they used to share mana like pouring water from one cup into another.

Revien’s intimacy did something else.

When he kissed her, she felt her own core expand. The potential itself moved. It wasn’t a temporary loan. It was growth.

A translucent window only she could see flickered at the edge of her vision.

[Level: 60 → 64]

[Blood Manipulation: Lv. 10]

[Duration of Enhanced State: 10 minutes remaining]

And when she had taken his blood from his lips, when the iron taste mixed with the refined mana, he had given her both pleasure and power in the same breath.

The surge had been incredible. Clean. Addictive in a way the others never were.

Revien stood still, watching her with those yellow eyes that gave almost nothing away.

"I kept you in check," he said at last. His voice was calm, almost flat.

"Don’t expect that again."

He turned away from her as if the conversation was already finished.

A few minutes remained on the simulation timer.

Rei stared at his back.

She had never wanted a support in her life.

The idea of relying on one had always felt like admitting weakness.

But now, looking at the man who had just forced power down her throat and then walked away as if it cost him nothing, a different hunger settled in her chest.

She didn’t want to rely on him. She wanted to ruin him.

Rei wanted to drain every drop of that strange, expanding power from his body and see how much he had left when she was done.

Other supports collapsed after a few exchanges.

This one had raised her four full levels, triggered a class mutation, and still stood there breathing normally, wiping her blood from his mouth like it was an inconvenience.

That was unacceptable.

Ruby’s voice cut through the silence, cautious.

"Rei... your mana signature is still climbing. You need to ease off before the overload flips into backlash."

Rei didn’t look at her.

"...I’m fine."

"You’re not," Saber said quietly. The blind woman’s head was tilted, white eyes unfocused as she read the air.

"The density is higher, but the edges are fraying. Whatever he did bought you time, not a permanent solution."

Rei’s jaw tightened.

She hated that they were right. She hated that she could already feel the borrowed clarity beginning to thin at the edges.

Ten minutes.

The system had been precise.

Revien spoke without turning around.

"We move. There’s no need to fight the boss. We killed enough to score decent in the boards."

Rei took one step after him, then another.

The residual strength still sang in her veins, but the edges were already beginning to fray the way Saber had warned.

Ten minutes wasn’t a long time.

She moved closer until she was walking parallel to him. For a moment she simply studied his face in the greenish cave light, the yellow eyes, the calm expression, the faint smear of her own blood still on his lower lip.

Then her gaze dropped to his mouth.

"Give me the chain."

Revien glanced at her, clearly confused.

"No need. We’re done."

"I need to test something."

He didn’t argue. He didn’t even look particularly interested. He simply formed the Appraisal chain again and held the glowing end out toward her like it was the most ordinary request in the world.

Rei took it.

The moment her fingers closed around the cool energy, her vision extended.

The shared senses flooded in, not the overwhelming expansion of the kiss, but a clean, precise overlay.

She could feel the exact position of Ruby’s healing mana, the way Saber mapped the air currents, the faint residual heat signatures of the monsters they had already killed. It was like her body had been lightly merged with his for perception.

It was useful.

It was also nowhere near as satisfying as the kiss had been.
