My Superpower Is Piloting Magical Girl Corpses?
Chapter 24: This Chapter Has a Huge ForeshadowingAirwen nodded. "Then I’ll see you off here."
She glanced at Su Fang, who seemed to want to say more.
"Before I left, the Association already handled the commotion at your school for you and suppressed the disappearance for the day, so your mother still doesn’t know."
"Besides, after everything you’ve been through today, you both must be exhausted. So when it comes to becoming a magical girl, find the right opportunity to confess. Don’t worry her tonight."
"Also, don’t forget, as the 'Prophecy Maiden,' you still need to report to the Magical Girl Association tomorrow."
Su Fang paused, then nodded gently.
Prophecy Maiden?
Lin Guang blinked, his gaze quietly sweeping across Airwen’s face and then Su Fang’s.
But Airwen clearly had no intention of explaining.
"Get a good night’s sleep. Let everything that happened today sink in."With that, before Su Fang could respond, she put on her helmet and twisted the throttle.
Accompanied by the low growl of the engine, the wild heavy-duty motorcycle sped off, leaving only a cool silhouette in its wake.
"Sister Airwen is so cool…"
Su Fang watched her leave with an admiring look, then immediately turned around. Her emerald-green eyes sparkled as she gazed at the cherry-haired girl beside her, naturally taking her hand.
"Let’s go, Senior! Mom’s definitely already made dinner by now!"
"I’m home——!"
On the seventh floor of the apartment building, Lin Guang let himself be pulled along as this energetic girl pushed open the door.
Through the front door, there was a sunken entryway with a step-down. The air was filled with a faint lemon scent, and two pairs of sports shoes were neatly arranged on the step.
At the same time, a rich, tempting aroma of spices wafted from inside.
"I brought a friend home today too!"
As Su Fang deftly pulled a pair of pink guest slippers printed with rabbits from the shoe cabinet, she called out.
Lin Guang’s gaze naturally fell on an exquisite photo frame placed atop the shoe cabinet. Inside was a picture of a young Su Fang with a red-haired woman.
Though there was no third person, they were both smiling brightly.
"That’s Mom and me."
Following her gaze, Su Fang explained casually as she changed her shoes. "As for my dad… he disappeared without a trace when I was really young!"
Even mentioning this, her tone seemed unconcerned as she laughed. "It’s just me and Mom in the house now, but we got used to it long ago. The two of us have an awesome time together!"
"Oh, you’re back?"
Accompanied by hurried footsteps, a woman in an apron walked out from the living room.
She had a sharp, neat short hairstyle in a wine-red color, her features about seventy percent similar to Su Fang’s but more mature and spirited.
Though she still held a ladle, her fiery energy made it obvious at a glance that she was the type who kept a good home and had a cheerful personality.
"I’m Mogong Ma, Su Fang’s mother."
"You must be the Mengmengxiang that little Su Fang mentioned in her text? You’re really pretty!"
Su Fang’s mother looked Lin Guang up and down, and upon seeing his expressionless yet incredibly striking face, she immediately broke into a warm smile.
"I heard from Su Fang that you had an accident and temporarily can’t remember things, with nowhere to go? Don’t worry, Auntie’s place might not be big, but there’s always room for one more set of chopsticks! Make yourself at home!"
Faced with this overwhelming warmth, Lin Guang’s pre-prepared cold facade softened slightly.
"…"
He gave an almost imperceptible nod. "Sorry for the trouble."
"No trouble at all! I happened to make something delicious today!"
Su Fang’s mother waved her ladle generously. "Go wash your hands! To welcome a new friend, I specially made hamburger steak curry!"
After washing up, the two soon found themselves at the dinner table.
On the steaming plates, beside a mound of rice drenched in rich, dark brown curry sauce, lay a thick hamburger steak the size of a palm, seared to a golden, fragrant perfection.
Su Fang’s mother was clearly a woman of action. Not only were the portions generous, but she had also specially added a soft-boiled egg to Mengmengxiang’s plate.
"Come on, eat up! Look how skinny you are, you’re at the age where you need to grow."
"Thank you."
She picked up her spoon, cut a piece of hamburger steak, and brought it to her mouth.
The meat was firm and juicy, mixing with the slightly spicy, rich curry and rice. The hearty satisfaction exploded in her mouth instantly. This kind of home cooking, full of the warmth of everyday life, was enough to soothe a stomach that had just survived life and death.
"Delicious!"
Beside her, Su Fang was already eating with puffed-out cheeks, a blissful look on her face. "Mom’s curry is definitely the best in the world!"
"Oh, you and your sweet talk."
Though Su Fang’s mother said it with mock disdain, the smile in her eyes was impossible to hide.
Seeming to notice the deep exhaustion hidden in Mengmengxiang, she didn’t pry too much into the details of her "amnesia." Instead, she just kept urging her to eat more, warm yet considerate.
Dinner ended in a warm and lively atmosphere.
After they had eaten their fill, Su Fang’s mother quickly cleared the dishes and urged them to go wash up and rest.
"Follow me! My room is upstairs!"
Su Fang naturally took Lin Guang’s hand and led him up the wooden stairs to the second floor of the duplex apartment.
"There’s a separate bathroom up here too, so you don’t have to run downstairs if you need to go at night."
Su Fang pointed at the stairwell, then gestured to the three doors along the hallway. "The one on the left is the guest room, but it’s not set up yet. And the one on the right—that’s mine!"
She twisted open the outermost door and reached in to hit the light switch.
Click.
The soft ceiling light came on.
What greeted them was a pink world full of girlish dreams.
Pink floral wallpaper, pink curtains, and a fluffy light-pink rug covering the floor.
In the middle of the rug sat a low, white round table, while the bedside, the cabinet, and even the corners of the rug were filled with all kinds of plush toys.
One side of the room featured a full wall of bookshelves, holding art collections, fairy tale books, extracurricular study guides, and… a large number of photography technique books and albums.
"Whoa!!!"
Su Fang suddenly let out an adorable shriek. Letting go of her senior’s hand, she sprinted like a hundred-meter dash toward the low round table.
There, draped over the back of a chair, was a very childish pair of underwear printed with little cats.
Grabbing it with one hand, Su Fang’s face flushed bright red as she frantically stuffed it into a drawer. She turned around, a bit awkwardly, her eyes darting as she tried to change the subject.
"Um, Senior! Look! This is a photo I took!"
She pointed at a corkboard by the desk, covered in pinned photos, showing it off like a prized possession.
